Emily: You should stop being so wonderful, by the way. I don't have the energy to show you proper appreciation.

Nikolas: Oh, you just did.

Emily: Yeah?

Nikolas: Yeah.

Emily: You promise you won't onnd face first in these crab cakes? Huh.

Nikolas: Which would just prove what I've been trying to tell you all along in my not-so-subtle way -- that you're working too hard.

Emily: Comes with the territory.

Nikolas: It's insane. In that hospital 12 hours a day, where's the time for you?

Emily: You mean for us? Nikolas, you're being so sweet. But I can tell that you're disappointed that I can't go to Italy with you.

Nikolas: Yeah, I am. But I keep telling myself that you won't be an intern forever. When it's finally over, you can give some serious thought to our own future.

Singer: Love for you

Nikolas: Either that food is so good you're speechless, or you really don't want to talk about our future.

Emily: Honestly? Yeah? Okay, a little bit of both.

Nikolas: Uh-oh.

Emily: No, no, no. No. Nikolas, things are really good with us. But if there's one thing that I've learned from recent experience, it is stay in the moment, enjoy it. Don't get ahead of yourself with lots of plans and promises.

Nikolas: Well, what -- I mean, what does that -- what's the alternative? Don't -- don't make any plans, don't do anything, don't expect anything because you're afraid of what mighhappen next?

Emily: No, no. No, no. I'm not afraid. Not afraid, just cautious. There's so much pressure with expectations.

Nikolas: Do -- do I make you feel pressured?

Emily: No, not at all -- that's my point. Look, Nikolas, when Lucky and Elizabeth remarried, she was like a symbol of his redemption. If they got remarried, then the drugs and the sleeping with Maxie just wouldn't matter anymore.

Nikolas: Is that -- I mean, is that how you feel about us? Do you think that I'm back with you because I'm trying to, you know, obliterate all the mistakes that I made in the past?

Emily: No, no. It is only a mistake if you don't learn from it. And I learned so much when we were apart, Nikolas -- about myself, about the difference between fantasy and reality. We broke up, you fell in love with Courtney, made Spencer -- I couldn't love him any more if he were my own. How can I be sorry for that, huh? I learned to see you as a man, and not as the prince, you know, in my personal little fairy tale. I can't be sorry for that, either. But, honestly, I'm not in a hurry to get to the future, because I've learned that there's no such thing as happily ever after.
