Emily: You'll take me anywhere in the world I want to go?
Nikolas: Yeah, we can leave as -- as soon as the doctors diagnose me.
Emily: Nikolas, that sounds wonderful --
Nikolas: Yeah, it can be kind of like a way to mark the beginning of the rest of our lives. I -- I know I can't ask you to put your career on hold, and I'm sorry if it's selfish to ask that. I really want us to go.
Emily: You're not allowed to take it back. I'd love to go.
Nikolas: Okay.
Carly: Oh, my -- Jason, I am just trying to do something nice for you, that's all.
Jason: How is it nice to drag me to some stupid ball?
Carly: Come on, Jason.
Jason: Can you -- can you please just get to the point?
Carly: Nikolas is giving an endowment to the hospital in Alan’s name. I just thought you'd want to be there to honor your father.
Jason: Don't even go there.
Carly: You're making me crazy, do you know that?
Jason: Me? This isn't about me!
Carly: It's about Emily! You know? Maybe you should be there!
Jason: Well, she has Nikolas.
Carly: Who's still having those freaky mood swings, he's having blackouts, but yet he's still having this party for her. You should be there to support her -- you know, just in case.
Jason: In case what?
Carly: In case something went wrong?
Jason: Like what? What are you afraid might go wrong?
Nikolas: Are you sure you can take the time off? I know you've worked really hard to get where you're at right now.
Emily: Yeah, I'm still going to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor. I'm just going to take an extended vacation along the way.
Nikolas: Okay. Just -- just know if you change your mind, that's okay.
Emily: Nikolas, this is our life, okay, and it's thrown us a curveball, but we're going to deal with it. And meanwhile, I think it's just reminding us to count our blessings, beginning with each other. You're so wonderful to offer this trip. I'm going to take you up on it, so stop arguing.
Nikolas: Okay. Okay. So, where shall we go?
Emily: Hmm, I don't know. Why I don't I spin the globe and see where my finger lands?
Nikolas: Ooh, I don't know. What if it lands on, say, the arctic or the wilds of Borneo?
Emily: Ooh, I don't know. Pygmies with shooting darts might not be very romantic.
Nikolas: No, no, it won’t. What about Europe?
Emily: Any place but Russia. That trip to rescue Spencer from Helena is still a little too fresh in my mind.
Nikolas: Okay.
Emily: But, um -- I don't know, maybe Egypt? I mean, Jason used to always tell me stories about the pyramids. It could be fun.
Nikolas: Yeah.
Emily: It's going to be hard to decide.
Nikolas: I know. I just want you to be happy wherever we go.
Emily: I'll be happy wherever we go, as long as I'm with you.
Jason: What do you think's going to go wrong at this party?
Carly: Nikolas still hasn't been diagnosed yet. I mean, he could fly off into a fit of rage.
Jason: Oh, so you -- you think he might hurt you?
Carly: No, I don't, but I think Emily will have a better time if she's not worrying about Nikolas, and you can be there to reassure her.
Jason: You're covering something, Carly.
Carly: Oh, my God. I cannot believe how suspicious you are of me!
Jason: This is what you do!
Carly: What do I do, Jason?
Jason: Well, you come up with some crazy scheme in your head; you keep it a secret till it blows up on your face. Why don't you just tell me now so I know what to expect?
Carly: You know, trust me, okay? My instincts are good.
Jason: Yeah, but they get you in trouble.
Carly: Well, how much trouble can I be in if you were there with me?
Jason: Oh, so that's it -- you want me to be there as backup? Is that what --
Jax: Jason. So, you taking Carly to the ball?
Jason: Can't -- business.
Jax: Would this business have anything to do with Sonny's disappearance?
Jax: Look, I have two stepsons that love their father, and they want to know when Sonny's coming home. So if there's anything that we should know, would you please tell us?
Jason: I'm handling it. I got to get back to work.
Carly: We're not done talking about the ball, Jason.
Jason: Carly, I'm not going, okay?
Jax: Well, there's your answer.
Carly: I'm still going.
Jax: What? Why are you so determined to go to this ball? I mean, you know Nikolas is a loose cannon. You know how dangerous he is.
Carly: He wouldn't have hurt me, Jax!
Jax: Okay, maybe, or maybe not. But he went after my brother and stabbed him, and he doesn't even remember doing it, okay, and it's very possible that he strangled Leticia.
Carly: He didn't kill Leticia.
Jax: Really? What makes you so sure?
Jax: What makes you so sure that Nikolas didn't kill Leticia?
Carly: Because Nikolas isn't capable of murder.
Jax: In his condition, he's capable of anything. He blacks out, and then he can't remember what he's done.
Carly: I was there; I know what it's like. When Nikolas came after me, I knew he wasn't going to actually hurt me.
Jax: Because Max jumped on him!
Carly: I was talking Nikolas down before Max got there.
Jax: You know what, Carly? You're fooling yourself, and you're forgetting something. Nikolas attacked Jerry and put a knife through his ribs.
Carly: Jerry?
Jax: Yes.
Carly: Jerry, who gets a twisted char out of provoking Nikolas, and you know that's what he did that night.
Jax: You're just making excuses.
Carly: I am not making excuses.
Jax: Yes, you are.
Carly: No, I'm not. I am going to be fine at the ball; you don't have to worry about me.
Jax: Of course I worry about you. You're my wife, I love you.
Carly: I love you, too. But, look, Emily is giving this ball with Nikolas. If she thought something bad was going to happen, don't you think she would postpone it?
Jax: You know, maybe the doctors haven't diagnosed him yet.
Carly: And maybe they're afraid they don't have much time for it -- even more of a reason for me to go.
Jax: All right, fine. I give in. You should go to the ball.
Carly: Thank you.
Jax: But not alone.
Carly: We've been through that, okay? Jason flat out said no, you're going to be in Paris, so I have no one to go with.
Jax: I'm not going to be in Paris. If you're so determined to go to this ball, I'm going to cancel my meetings, okay? We will go to the black-and-white ball together.
Nikolas: Hey.
Emily: Hi.
Thunder.
Nikolas: How you doing?
Emily: Good.
Nikolas: See? There's a storm coming.
Emily: Hmm.
Nikolas: Hopefully, it'll end before tomorrow night.
Emily: Yeah. I can't imagine our guests wanting to ride across the harbor in the pouring rain.
Nikolas: Right -- staggering off the docks in soaking-wet clothes. So much for formal elegance, huh?
Emily: Hmm.
Nikolas: I really shouldn’t joke about it. The party would be ruined if it storms tomorrow night.
Emily: Hey, if people come, it's going to be wonderful, and if they don't, then we're going to have the entire ballroom to ourselves.
Nikolas: No, no, it's your dream and I want it to be perfect for you.
Emily: It's going to be perfect -- as long as you're with me.
Emily chuckles.
Nikolas: You know how happy you make me?
Emily: Mm-hmm. We're going to be happy for years to come.
Thunder.
