Jax: Okay, I need the truth about who stabbed you.

Jerry: I told you -- Nikolas Cassadine.

Jax: And I'm supposed to believe you because you've been so honest with me in the past?

Jerry: Jax, what would be my incentive for lying, honestly?

Jax: I don't know -- maybe some misguided effort to keep the peace with these Zacchara people. Look, I need the facts. If you were stabbed by someone in Zacchara's organization, that means the truce that I brokered isn't holding.

Jerry: Zacchara will honor the truce as long as he finds you useful, and then all bets are off, and then there's really no way to find out where he stands, is there? In any event, if Zacchara wanted to plant a knife in my chest, his word to you or anyone else wouldn't matter. I already told you the truth -- Nikolas stabbed me, and here's the kicker -- he doesn't even remember.

Nikolas: Have Rubicon saddled and ready to go in about 10 minutes, thanks. Hey.

Emily: Hey. You going riding?

Nikolas: Uh-huh.

Emily: You think that's a good idea?

Nikolas: Why wouldn't it be?

Emily: These episodes that you're having are getting worse, Nikolas, and now you're losing time.

Nikolas: Well, I wanted to get out of the house -- for you.

Emily: For me?

Nikolas: You think I haven't noticed -- you walking on eggshells, trying not to set me off? I hate what this is doing to you.

Emily: Nikolas, it's not you. It's the side effect of whatever drug Jerry injected you with or some other medical condition. We're going to find out what it is and we're going to treat you.

Nikolas: Okay, well, until we do find out what it is, I need to be careful about putting myself in a situation that could trigger another outburst, and I just figured that a ride seems safe enough -- and you could use the break.

Emily: I don need a break -- it's just going to make me worry more.

Nikolas: What do you want -- what do you want me to do -- just barricade myself in my own home? I can't do that.

Emily: What if you have another blackout?

Nikolas: It's -- it's just a ride, it's second nature to me.

Emily: Yeah, but you could fall and seriously injure yourself.

Nikolas: Damn it, will you stop treating me like a child?

Jerry: Nikolas showed up here full of righteous indignation, demanding why I told Emily he stabbed me. It was obvious he had no clue what happened.

Jax: Nikolas has been experiencing some problems.

Jerry: Apparently so.

Jax: One of them is memory loss. Do you think that, um, there might be some kind of side effect from the poison that you gave Nikolas?

Jerry: I honestly don't know. What I can tell you is that Nikolas came out of nowhere and stabbed me with brutal efficiency. If he has no control over his violent impulses and no memory of it afterwards -- I mean, it's the true definition of a loose cannon, I can tell you.

Nikolas sighs.

Nikolas: I'm sorry. I'm sorry -- it's exactly what I'm trying to avoid here.

Emily: No, you were right. I was treating you like a child, I was nagging.

Nikolas: No, no. That's not an excuse for yelling at you, and I'm sorry. God, I hate this -- whatever this thing is. I hate this. I hate seeing the fear in your eyes, I --

Emily: Nikolas, I'm not afraid of you.

Nikolas: But part of you thinks that I actually did stab Jerry, I've done some other horrible thing that I can't remember.

Emily: No, I told you, I don't think that you're the one who attacked Jerry. It's not in your nature to be deliberately cruel.

Nikolas: But that's -- but that's where you're wrong -- it is in my nature. Look at my family -- look at Helena, look at my father.

Emily: You are nothing like them.

Luke: Nik? You and I need to talk about Lulu.

Nikolas: No, I have a better idea. Why don't you tell me where my mother is?

Luke: Your mother is safe, that's all you need to know.

Nikolas: Well, you -- you've been gone for months, I -- I deserve to know exactly what's happened.

Luke: "What's happened" happened right under your nose -- Baldwin used Laura to hook Lulu up with his worthless son. I want to know what you did to stop it!

Emily: This is a really bad time, Luke. Nikolas is dealing with a lot.

Luke: Emily, run interference if you need to, but this is going to take longer that way.

Nikolas: It's -- it's okay. Go call the groom, tell him to cancel the ride, okay? It's okay.

Emily sighs.

Nikolas: Thanks. So what can I do for you?

Luke: I don't know, Nik, you tell me. While you're riding your polo ponies, Lulu's up to her neck in Baldwins.

Nikolas: I spoke to Lulu about Logan, I tried to warn her.

Luke: Well, obviously you didn't warn her hard enough, otherwise she wouldn't have gone to bed with this kid on a bet.

Nikolas: Everyone who cares about Lulu has weighed in on the subject -- except you, of course, because you weren't around!

Luke: I wasn't around because I was trying to protect your mother from Baldwin because you couldn't do it. I don't know why I thought you could protect your sister any better.

Nikolas: You need to go now.

Luke: Really?

Nikolas: Yeah.

Luke: I see. So you can't be bothered when your sister's in trouble?

Nikolas: There's -- there's just some things that are going on right now that you don't know about, okay, some personal issues that I'm dealing with.

Luke: You want to tell me about them?

Nikolas: No. No, I don't -- I can't, okay?

Luke: Are you aware that while you're dealing with your personal issues, Lulu has cut a deal with Baldwin and agreed to go back to his little bastard son?

Nikolas: Well -- well, guess what -- Lulu's an adult now, which means she gets to dictate who she sleeps or doesn't sleep with. Now, I'm telling you, get out of my house.

Nikolas: Hi.

Emily: Oh, my God -- what happened?

Nikolas: It's fine. Don't -- don't worry, Luke’s fine. Come in, sit down.

Emily: No, I know. I just saw him leave -- clearly you're not.

Nikolas: No, I just -- I cut myself on the letter opener there.

Emily: How?

Nikolas: Just being stupid, nothing you have to worry about. I want you to focus on much happier things.

Emily: Any suggestions?

Nikolas: Ah -- funny you should ask that. How does the idea of a party sound to you?

Emily: A party?

Nikolas: Well, a party -- that -- party is a little misleading here. I am talking about a ball far more elaborate than the Bacchanalia we had, and I want you to be the hostess.

Emily: You're planning a formal ball -- here?

Nikolas: Yes. Why, are you thinking of -- of a more appropriate place?

Emily: No, no, no, but -- are you sure that throwing a huge ball like that here is a good idea?

Nikolas: Yes. Yes, we could use a distraction right now. And plus, I'm -- I'm making an endowment to General Hospital. They could certainly use the money right now. Yeah, it'd help keep those vultures from Medcam away. But more importantly, I want it for you as a -- as a gift because you deserve it and because I love you.
