Alfred: Miss Emily touched so many lives. They want to express their own pain at your loss.

Nikolas: I don't want them here.

Alfred: If they upset you, I can --

Nikolas: No, thank you, thank you. Please go and leave me alone.

Emily: So it's true? I'm dead?

Bobbie: Emily was more than a professional colleague, more than a young intern with a brilliant career and a wonderful life ahead of her, a life cut short in a most obscene and heartbreaking way. Emily was also a good friend, a girl I had the privilege of knowing since she was 10 years old. Emily's parents devoted --

Pagers beep.

Bobbie: Their lives to the art of healing and she chose to follow in their footsteps, and Emily understood the very heart of this hospital.

Nadine: Incoming.

Bobbie: Let's go, people.

Paramedic: We've got a female, 24. She was hit by a car, suffered some head trauma and definitely some rib fractures. Her blood pressure is 170/110. Heart rate's 138.

Epiphany: Trauma one's open.

Robin: She's a bride?

Paramedic: Yeah, she was going to the church and ran out into the street.

Alarm.

Leo: Oh, she's in v-fib.

Emily: It says the prime suspect is Anthony Zacchara.

Nikolas: But they haven't arrested him.

Emily: Yeah. They probably never will. It says they institutionalized him. Maybe you don't remember what happened, Nikolas, but I know you didn't kill me.

Nikolas: Maybe they should find a spot for me right next to Anthony Zacchara because this is insane. You're not -- you're not here. The only reason I can see you is because I want to. Emily, I -- I fell asleep last night holding you.

Emily: Yeah. And it was wonderful. It was wonderful.

Nikolas: But this morning, you were gone.

Emily: I'm here now.

Nikolas: When I woke up and you weren't there, I told myself that I snapped at the funeral and imagined all this. But you're here.

Emily chuckles.

Nikolas: You changed your clothes, your hair just like it was a normal day. How is this possible?

Emily: I don't know. Nikolas, I'm not even sure that I want to know. The only thing that matters is how perfectly natural -- natural and normal it feels to be here with you. I know the newspaper says I'm dead, but I love you as much as I always have.

Nikolas: Emily, I want to understand why you're here, I do. But I'm afraid if I try and find out, that you'll go away.

Nikolas: Oh, God. You know, at that moment when I was holding you and you weren't breathing, I -- I literally -- I felt physical pain. And all those terrible things that were going on around me, including the possibility that I may have done it to you, all faded behind the fact that I was never going to be able to look into your eyes again.

Emily: Nikolas.

Nikolas: Now I can -- you're right here.

Emily: Yeah.

Nikolas: I can -- I can talk to you, I can touch you. This may be insanity, but it's the only thing that's keeping me from throwing myself off that turret right now.

Emily: Yeah -- don't you even say that.

Alexis: Please don't be mad at Alfred. He made it very clear that you wanted to be alone.

Nikolas: But here you are.

Alexis: Because something tells me that alone is the last thing that you should be.

Nikolas: Listen, I appreciate your concern, but there's nothing that you can do. I'm grieving and I just need to go through that.

Alexis: But you don't have to go through it all by yourself. You can lean on your friends and family, Nikolas. It's not a sign of weakness. It wasn't for me. In fact, it was my friends and family that were my greatest source of strength. I'm not -- I'm not just talking about me and your sister and your brother. You have a little boy who loved Emily. Spencer needs you as much as you need him, Nikolas. I think you should bring your son home.

Alexis: I fully expected to see the glass shattered and the furniture in splinters.

Nikolas: I guess you were wrong.

Alexis: You're grieving, Nikolas. That doesn't mean that you should stop seeking help. Whatever it is that you have isn't going to go away just because Emily died.

Nikolas: How do you know that?

Alexis: I don't know. I just think that's -- it's true, and maybe it's your grief overwhelming you right now, but I can't stress this enough -- you have a son, and it would be irresponsible of you to stop seeking help.

Nikolas: Spencer's with Lesley right now. He's fine with her. That's as close to normal as I can offer my son at this point.

Alexis: But I don't want you to be alone.

Nikolas: I don't feel alone. In fact, in a way, I feel that Emily's still with me.

Emily: Alexis is right, you know. Spencer should be home with you, where he belongs.

Nikolas: Forgive me for stating the obvious, Emily, but I'm standing here talking to a dead woman that I can touch. You're more present to me than anything in my life right now, but I know that you're not really here. This is a whole new kind of crazy, Emily. I can't expose my son to that. If I do, I'm afraid you'll disappear from me.

Alfred: Excuse me, Sir. There's a Detective Harper to see you.

Nikolas: Thank you.

Alfred: Is there anything I can get you, Sir?

Nikolas: No, no, not now, thank you. Detective Harper.

Detective Harper: The forensics report came back on the white mask found at the murder site. It's splattered with your blood. I'm going to have to arrest you for the murder of Emily Quartermaine.
