May 29, 2007 Screencaps

Emily: Thanks, Mike.

Lucky: So, where do we stand?

Nikolas: Well, Scott's going to try and force me to sign over guardianship of Laura by exposing that -- that Luke raped her. But Alexis has managed to keep the courtroom closed and the records sealed, so -- so as long as Lulu's not in the courtroom, then she may never know, right?

Lucky: You know what? Normally I'm in favor of full disclosure, but I don't know if Lulu can handle the truth this ugly on top of everything she's been through.

Elizabeth: Well, maybe I can keep her away. I can just call her and tell her that I need help with Jake.

Nikolas: Look, Lulu would see right through any conveniently timed invitation to go help with the kids.

Elizabeth: Well, I can try. I mean, if I can just get her to the park, I can maybe distract her long enough to keep her away from the courthouse -- but it will only work once. If this trial goes on for days, she's eventually going to hear the truth.

Nikolas: Well, according to Alexis, I should be able to retain guardianship. And once the Judge makes the decision and the records are sealed, then we can just put this behind us.

Lucky: Yeah, but what if Scott decides to tell Lulu about the rape just to get back at Dad?

Emily: Hey, one crisis at a time. You know, first Nikolas has to stay put as Laura's guardian.

Nikolas: Well, it would certainly help if I could fight for my mother without having to worry about my sister's heart being ripped to shreds.

Lucky: Hey, Dad?

Luke: Oh, there you are.

Lucky: Hey, um, Lulu -- she's spending the afternoon in the park with Elizabeth, so don't worry. She's not going to come near this farce of a hearing.

Luke: Oh, thank you. That helps. Uh, you know what's going to come out here today. Maybe you ought to go to the park, too -- or at least try to get another shift or something.

Lucky: I don't Judge you for what happened between you and Mom before I was even born. I mean, Baldwin -- he's the ass that's stirred the pot.

Emily: You have the moral high ground, okay? You can afford to stay level and pleasant. The more reasonable you appear, the worse Scott's going to look.

Nikolas: Hi.

Lesley: Are you ready for battle?

Nikolas: Huh. I don't think I have much of a choice at this point.

Lesley: Everybody here is on your side. And for whatever my word is worth, I am prepared to testify that Laura was definitely in her right mind when she chose you as her guardian, and that you have done a wonderful job.

Nikolas: Thank you.

Lesley: I love you.

Nikolas: I love you, too. Thank you.

Bailiff: All rise. This court is now in session, the Honorable Judge Rogers presiding.

Judge pounds gavel.

Luke: It's about to get messy, wife. Are you sure you want to be here?

Tracy sighs.

Tracy: There's no place I'd rather be.

Alexis: Dr. Winters, what is the name of Laura Spencer's condition?

Lainey: Psychomotor Disassociation.

Alexis: Can you explain that to the court, please?

Lainey: It's a chronic, incurable condition that develops when a patient's been catatonic too long.

Alexis: So it's an emotional disorder?

Lainey: No. The catatonia becomes physical in nature, and is no longer affected by the patient's mental state.

Alexis: Okay, but from the onset of Laura's condition, thas due to emotional trauma, correct?

Lainey: Correct.

Alexis: Now, is it correct that Dr. Robin Scorpio and Dr. Patrick Drake found this drug that could temporarily reverse Mrs. Spencer's condition?

Lainey: Yes.

Alexis: So how did Mrs. Spencer choose to spend this precious time?

Lainey: With the man she considered to be her husband, Luke Spencer, and her children.

Alexis: Not with Mr. Baldwin?

Scott: Objection, Your Honor. I -- I wasn't even in town.

Judge: Sustained.

Alexis: Withdrawn. In your professional opinion, Dr. Winters, was Mrs. Spencer disoriented in any way when she checked herself into Shadybrook on November 22, 2006?

Lainey: Absolutely not. Laura was in full possession of her faculties, and aware that her condition was rapidly deteriorating. She made a conscious and informed decision to appoint her oldest child, Nikolas Cassadine, as her guardian. I was there. Laura Spencer knew exactly what she was doing.

Scott: Your Honor, I'd like to submit the doctor's reports from the time of Laura's initial breakdown, state's exhibit five, and I'd like to have the witness read for me.

Judge: That's fine, Mr. Baldwin.

Scott: Thank you. Here you go. Now, what does the doctor say about Laura's reaction to the sight of Mr. Spencer?

Lainey: She started to scream hysterically.

Scott: And do they also indicate that it was Mr. Spencer's badgering that pushed Laura to catatonia?

Lainey: Yes.

Alexis: Have you ever resented the responsibility that goes along with being your mother's guardian?

Nikolas: No, no. Quite the contrary, I'm honored that she entrusted herself into my care.

Alexis: It must be very expensive.

Nikolas: She's my mother. Money's not a consideration in this matter.

Scott: Mr. Cassadine, did you ever have to stop Luke from having contact with Laura?

Nikolas: Years ago, I believed that contact with Luke could be harmful, but now I think otherwise.

Scott: Why do you think it was harmful for your mother?

Nikolas: Because of the psychiatrist's initial recommendation.

Scott: No other reason?

Nikolas: No other reason.

Scott: Do you know of any time that Luke was abusive towards your mother?

Nikolas: No.

Scott: You're under oath, Mr. Cassadine.

Nikolas: Laura never told me that Luke was abusive towards her.

Scott: That's not what I asked. But I'll move on. Do you have any recollection of a situation that happened between Luke and Laura at the Campus Disco on October 5, 1979?

Alexis: Objection, Your Honor. Relevance?

Judge: I assume you're going someplace specific with this?

Scott: Yes, Your Honor, I am going somewhere with this.

Judge: Overruled. Witness will answer.

Scott: Mr. Cassadine, what happened October 5, 1979, between Luke Spencer and Laura Baldwin? Do you want me to repeat the question?

Nikolas: No, you don't have to repeat --

Scott: Well, we're waiting.

Nikolas: There was a rape.

Scott: I'm sorry. I didn't hear you.

Nikolas: Luke raped Laura.

Lulu gasps as she walks into the courtroom and hears Nikolas' statement.
