February 6, 2007 Screencaps

Emily: Help! We need help in here! Dad -- Dad, can you hear me?

Alan: Emily -- Emily, you got to get out of here.

Emily: I'm not leaving you.

Alan: If you escape, you can save all of us. Please, Emily, just -- just go. Go.

Emily: Okay.

Patrick: Don't shoot! Don't shoot. I'm unarmed. Listen to me, I'm a doctor. I can save the woman who's been shot.

Goon: He's unarmed.

Patrick: Just listen to me. You have my word, no tricks, no games. I just want to help the injured woman.

Patrick: Just let her go! Take me instead!

Emily: My father is having a heart attack. He needs a defibrillator so that we can shock his heart back into its normal rhythm. You know, the paddles, like --

Woman: I know what a defibrillator is.

Emily: There's got to be one in this hotel. Look at him. He's not going anywhere. He is no condition to move. So you can go with me to make sure that I don't try anything.

Woman: Just get in.

Emily: All right. Okay. Do you have any aspirin?

Alan: No.

Emily: Okay. When we get out of here, you're going to go see a nutritionist. No more cheese omelets and ice cream for you.

Alan: You're so fair.

Emily: When was the last time you had your cholesterol checked?

Alan: Listen to you. So calm and bossy, just -- just like a regular doctor.

Emily: Yeah, trust me, it's only on the outside.

Alan: Yeah, well, that's -- that's all that counts. That's what -- that's what patient -- patients look for.

Emily: Okay. Who leaves one lousy aspirin in the bottle?

Alan: Oh.

Emily: All righ here you go. I want you to chew this, Dad.

Alan: Honey, I'm -- I'm fine. I'm fine.

Emily: No. You're short of breath.

Alan: No -- I just -- I just need to rest for a little while and I'll feel better, okay?

Patrick: My name is Patrick Drake. I'm a doctor, a surgeon. The woman who's been shot is also a doctor, and she needs help.

James: But I can't let you in, so it seems that we're at an impasse.

Patrick: Then take me instead. I'll do whatever you ask. Just -- please, let Robin get some help.

James: Ah. This is so incredibly romantic. A doctor offering his life for another? But you see, I like the hostages that I have. I really do.

Patrick: Then let me in. At least I can help Robin.

James: Well, it's true. She really could use your help. And it's tempting to accept your sacrifice you're offering to make. But you see, we've done a bang-up job here -- no pun intented -- to lock the place down, so I'm afraid you're going to have to leave now.

Patrick: No. No, I'm not leaving Robin.

James: Well, then I'll kill her now and end this discussion.Thank you.

Carly: No, no. If you won't let Patrick in, then let him tell us how to save her.

James: Now, that might be interesting. If I agree, would you be willing to perform the surgery, Mrs. Corinthos?

James: This is going to be so much fun.

Woman: Don't give her a mask. It'll be too easy for her to blend in.

Five: Yeah, but he said --

Woman: It's not worth the risk.

Patrick: Listen to me, if I can't examine Robin, I have no way of knowing the extent of her injuries. Until I do, I can't talk someone through a surgery.

James: Well, that's what makes life so interesting, Paddy boy. The thrill of the unexpected, the ability to take fate's little lemons and make lemonade. So what do you say? Where's your sense of adventure?

Patrick: Fine. Okay, I'll play. Tell me the rules.

James: Go back to command central and wait for my phone call. While you're waiting, I want you to relay a message. The next time someone approaches this door, a hostage will die. And that could very well be your beloved Dr. Scorpio. Do I make myself clear?

Patrick: Yes, okay. No one comes near the door.

James: Good lad. You'd better hurry. You don't want to miss my phone call. Now we'll see if that love-struck doctor can save his sweetheart. And you get to be his eyes and hands.

Carly: I'm not a doctor. I flunked out of nursing school.

James: Which only raises the stakes and makes it that much more interesting. Who do you want to assist you?

Carly: Emily and Elizabeth.

James: Pick one.

Emily: You remember when Lucky and I ran away? Luke and laura were fighting and Lucky thought that it would bring them back together.

Alan: You said you were going to Chicago. And you went to Boston to find Paige's sister.

Emily: I wasn't sure that you and Monica really wanted me.

Alan: I never wanted anybody more in my entire life than you. The day I adopt-- the day I adopted you was one of the great days in my life. Really. I thought you and Lucky really made a cute couple.

Emily laughs.

Emily: Liar. You never thought Lucky was good enough for me.

Alan: Yeah. Nikolas was, hmm? He was nice to you for a while, then he started to treat you terribly.

Emily: Nikolas and I both made mistakes.

Alan: Then he goes ahead and he has a child with another woman. That's terrible. Although I'm -- I'm really not the one to criticize that way.

Alan laughs.

Emily: Well, I love Spencer every bit as much as Mom loves Jason. And I'm hoping that we're going to be able to raise the baby together.

Alan: Don't rush into things, please.

Emily: We're not rushing, Dad. I promise. Plus, if anyone showed me how to overcome betrayal and -- and heartbreak with love, it was you.

Alan: Yeah, well, I hope you do better than we did.

James: It turns out Robin does need surgery. An assertive young man named Patrick Drake is going to talk Mrs. Corinthos through the procedure. But she needs a new assistant. And she's requesting you, Dr. Emily.

Emily: My -- my father is having a heart attack. We -- we need to get him to a hospital --

Alan: Em -- Em, do you remember your training? This is triage. You go to the patient that's in immediate danger. Okay? You go to Robin. She needs you. Go, go.

Emily: No, my father shouldn't be left alone!

James: Shut up. No problem. You, Lulu -- you get to stay with Alan while Emily stays with Robin.

Lulu: No. No, I -- I think you want somebody else to go.

James: What's the matter? You have something against Emily's daddy? You want to share it with us?

Lulu: If he is sick, I can't help him. I can't do anything.

James: Well, Alan's a doctor. No doubt he can advise you. Two, take her.

Carly: Go, go. Go.

Lulu: Oh --

Emily: Okay. She -- she's losing a lot of blood.

Phone dials, rings.

James: Let me talk to the surgeon.

Ric: It's him.

Patrick: This is Dr. Drake.

James: Well, aren't you the speedy one?

Patrick: Look, I did what you asked, Mr. -- I don't know what to call you.

James: Don't worry about me. The only people in your world right now are Mrs. Corinthos, Emily, and poor, pale Robin. You may coach them through the surgery, but you can only use whatever supplies we have left in the hotel.

Emily: Oh, we -- we -- we need a sterile environment! We --

James: Ah, the art of improvisation.

Patrick: Why are you doing this?

James: Because I can, Paddy. And you having a meltdown won't help your girlfriend.

Patrick: Let me talk to Emily.

James: Emily -- do anything stupid.

Emily: Okay. I'm here.

Patrick: Okay, Emily. Just -- just describe to me the wound.

Emily: The -- the bullet entered Robin's -- Robin's abdomen from the left side. I'm unable to determine trajectory, but she's losing a lot of blood.

Patrick: Okay, is the wound -- is her abdomen distended, or is it soft?

Emily: It's a little distended.

Patrick: Okay, she's bleeding internally. She could -- she could exsanguinate if we don't -- if we don't open her up. You know -- she's going to bleed to death.

Emily: No, the -- I know what that means, okay? I just -- I have to figure out a way to fix it using what we have here.

Patrick: Emily, listen to me. I need you to take a deep breath. Okay. I'm going to give you a list of supplies.

Emily: Okay. Um -- I need -- I need a paper and pen. They're over there.

Carly: Hold your hand --

Emily: Yeah, I know. I got it.

Carly: Can I go to the desk and get a paper and pen?

James: Hmm. I'm feeling indulgent. Go.

Carly: I got it, I got it. Okay. Here.

Emily: All right.

Carly: I got it.

Emily: Okay. Go ahead.

Patrick: Okay? Now, we need clean towels, bleached, preferably. We need sponges that are still in the wrapper if you can. We need a paring knife, we need needle and thread --

Emily: I'd like to start gathering the list of supplies.

James: Oh, I'm sure you would, but I say -- I say we should share the joy. We need to fight the boredom before the hotel vault opens, so who wants to play? I see Nikolas is your special guy, right? Right? As I thought. Nikolas gets to go on the scavenger hunt, and with you, two guards ready to shoot you if you do anything foolish.

Nikolas: I don't know where to find those things here.

Marty: I can show you.

James: You shut up and sit down, McFarty. Of course. You need a staff member. How about I pick Sweet Sam? You always seem so eager to help. You have 10 minutes. Come back with every item on the list or you'll be penalized. Let's see -- what kind of penalty? How about a bullet in the head?

Carly: You are crazy.

James: Or we can forget about the surgery, and Nikolas and Sam can watch Robin die.

Nikolas: All right, all right.

James: Your choice.

Nikolas: All right. I'll do it. Give me the list.

Goon: Hey. Mom, these are awesome.

James whistles "Bah, Bah, Black Sheep".

James: Tick, tick tick, tick, tick tick, tick, tick, tick --

Nikolas: All right. All right, we got it.

James: Ah.Ow down. We need to see the complete list. Put the stuff there. Thank you. We have clean sheets, towels, sponges, rubber gloves, safety goggles, and my personal favorite, duct tape, and -- hold on. Where -- where's the monofilament line? Ah. And you only have 10 seconds left. Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one -- wow. Wow. I'm impressed. For the moment, Nikolas lives. See how fast she jumped to get -- to get your man? I mean, I think that there's more here than meets the eye, don't you think, Emily?

Sam: I just don't want to see a good man die, that's all.

James: Well, you don't strike me as being the altruistic type. Give him the supplies -- thank you.

Phone dials, rings.

James: Get the doctor on.

Ric: Patrick?

Patrick: I'm here.

James: Let's get the party started. If you say anything that doesn't relate to the surgery, pow-pow.

Emily: Okay. Patrick, we're ready.

Patrick: Okay. Emily, just take a deep breath. Now, this is just like med school, only with a real person and none of the right equipment.

Emily: We got everything you said. Carly's laying out the instruments right now. We moved rin onto the sheet. Her pulse is weak but steady, but her abdomen is firmer than before.

Patrick: Okay, then we need to get started. Okay. You need to trace the path of the bullet through Robin's abdomen with your finger.

Emily: Right. Okay. I need you to --

Carly: Okay.

Emily: Okay. Right. Got it.

Patrick: Okay.

Emily: I feel the bullet.

Patrick: Okay, good. Now, first, you need to swab the site and sterilize the paring knife.

Emily: Where's the alcohol? Here.

Carly: It's right here.

Emily: Okay.

Emily sighs.

Emily: All right, done.

Patrick: Okay, good, good. Okay. Now, you're going to make a four-inch incision directly over the path.

Emily: Be ready with the towels. There's going to be a lot of blood.

Emily: All right, I'm in.

Patrick: Good, Emily. Now, make sure you cut from the top to the bottom. Use the sponges to put direct pressure over the bleeder. Use the curling iron to cauterize it. Now, as soon as you've made the incision, we need to find out where all the bleeding is coming from.

Emily: Oh, my God.

Carly: Oh, God.

Emily: Okay, we got to stop it.

Patrick: Emily -- Emily, what's happening?

Emily: Patrick, the bullet hit an artery!

Patrick: Okay, Emily, you need to tie off the artery. Use a monofilament line. Tie it off with the monofilament line!

Carly: You have to do something.

Emily: All right. I need towels or tweezers or she's going to die!

Carly: You got to stop this.

Patrick: Emily, what's happening?
