Nikolas: Huh. Oh, I'm sorry, Miss, but I think you may have wandered into the wrong house.
Emily: Oh, yeah? It looks so much like the place I used to live in. But after a week of late shifts, it's kind of hard to tell. I swear you look like someone I know. Yes, I'm pretty sure we've met.
Nikolas chuckles.
Nikolas: So are you up for the day, or you still need some more sleep?
Emily: I need more coffee.
Nikolas: Well, I came downstairs to leave for the stables. You were crashed on the couch, dead to the world.
Emily: Yeah. I didn't en take time to change after work. All I wanted to do was get home. And then I sat on the couch to look at the mail, and that is the last thing I remember. At least you didn't have to step over me in the doorway.
Nikolas: Well, the next time that you have to work late, you call me, and I'll come downstairs and meet you here and carry you up.
Emily: You will?
Nikolas: Yeah.
Emily: You'd do that for me?
Nikolas: No, I'd do it for me. I hate it when I can't wake up next to you.
Emily: Oh.
Nikolas: Have the papers notarized and sent back to me. I'll look for them midweek. Thank you.
Sam: Hi.
Nikolas: Hi.
Sam: I -- I'm sorry. I should have called first. I didn't mean to just drop by like this.
Nikolas: No, no, no one really drops by here. It's no one's way to anywhere. I -- I heard about what happened in the park. You rescued Elizabeth and her children?
Sam: Yeah. I happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Nikolas: Good. Well, on -- on behalf of my brother, I'm very grateful, thank you.
Sam: You do know that Lucky was called to the scene? Okay, well, I could not believe the level of tension between him and Elizabeth, and I am pretty certain that Lucky is going to be desperate to be the one to find these guys, and I just -- I'm really worried that he is going to put himself in harm's way.
Lucky: That's what cops do. Why are you suddenly worried about me?
Emily: Oh, thank God you and the kids are okay.
Elizabeth: It was terrifying.
Emily: Elizabeth, what happened?
Elizabeth: A couple of men figured out that I was connected to Jason and wanted to use me and my kids as leverage against him.
Emily: Oh, my God. That's awful.
Elizabeth: Yeah, but I didn't tell the police.
Emily: You covered for Jason?
Elizabeth: And I'd do it all over again.
Lucky: Is it me, or did Sam leave this place in record time?
Nikolas: Well, I'm just now starting to get to know my cousin. I -- I just think she's still in a lot of pain over her breakup with Jason, and looking for someplace to put all that emotion.
Lucky: You think she's putting it into me?
Nikolas: I think she can relate to what you're going through, yes.
Lucky: You know what? You're right. I am feeling a lot of things that Sam's feeling. I'm hurt, I am angry, and I am embarrassed that I turned a blind eye for so long.
Nikolas: Why, Lucky? You believed your wife. There's no shame in that.
Lucky: No, I believed Elizabeth's excuses, and every lie that she fed to me.
Nikolas: Okay -- if you -- do you really feel that way? Because if you do, you're not being fair to yourself, you're not being share to your wife, or your children. I mean, have you considered that it just might be better to separate if you --
Lucky: I can't give up on my marriage. No matter how angry I am with Elizabeth -- you know, I just don't know how to stop loving her.
Elizabeth: I asked Jason to meet me yesterday after I had been accosted at the park. He made a decision to stay out of my life.
Emily: Huh. In case his life wasn't messed up enough already, you know? Between the trial, everything else --
Elizabeth: Right, right. He means so much to me. I mean, beyond saving my life and jake's, he has been more kind and selfless that I deserve. I love him. I love him. And I have -- I've rationalized all the time that I've spent with him that it wasn't hurting anyone. But the truth is, it was hurting everyone. Me and Lucky. Especially Jason.
Emily: Elizabeth, I know my brother. He wouldn't end your relationship because he was getting hurt.
Elizabeth: No, he did it to protect Jake. And -- and me, and -- and Cameron. He did it to protect us. But we're safer if -- if there is no contact with him.
Emily: There's only one problem. You want that contact.
Elizabeth: And I'd be willing to take that risk for myself.
Emily: You would walk away from Lucky to -- to be with Jason?
Elizabeth: I mean, I have two children I have to consider. I have to do what's best for them. And whatever happens with me and Lucky, whether we get divorced, or not, I can never be with Jason.
Nikolas: Uh -- what happened?
Emily: Nikolas, I love Elizabeth. She's the closest girlfriend I've ever had, and I'm nowhere near perfect, but --
Nikolas: What, but what?
Emily: Jason was just tried for murder. He and Sam are finished. He's been through hell, mostly because he risked his freedom for Elizabeth and Jake, and now it's too dangerous for him to see them? It's just not fair.
Nikolas: Emily, wouldn't it -- wouldn't it be easier for Lucky and Elizabeth to work out their problems if Jason wasn't in the picture? I thought that's what you wanted.
Emily: I do. I did, okay? I did -- until I realized how much we've all changed. It's wrong for Elizabeth to keep denying her own feelings. It's not going to do anyone any good. And I'm sorry, but as much as I love Lucky, my brother deserves some happiness, too.
Nikolas:Yeah. Well, as wonderful as I'm sure Jason is -- and I'll have to just take your word for it -- but I just can't see Elizabeth bringing her children home to a -- to a criminal, Emily. I mean --
Emily: Look, I'm not making excuses for my brother, but I just know that he would be so good for Elizabeth, Nikolas. But I know, okay? It's not my decision to make.
Nikolas: Yeah. Well, sometimes I wonder if there's some cosmic principle out there that says that Lucky and Elizabeth and you and I can't all be happy and in love at the same time.
Emily: Oh, God, please, don't even say that. I would hate to think that our happiness comes at the expense of Lucky and Elizabeth.
Nikolas: Well, are you happy?
Emily: I know that this is where I belong. I don't doubt our love for a minute.
Nikolas: You mean the world to me, Emily, and I thank God every single day that you took me back.
Emily: Hmm.
