Nikolas: Do you have any idea when Dr. Trent will have Alexis' test results back? Hmm. Well, thank you. I appreciate the call, Elizabeth.

Colleen: Your daddy is really worried about your family, but I think I know how we can help him. We're going to make up a little story to show your daddy that he's not alone, that I understand exactly what he's going through.

Nikolas: So if you need anything, please don't hesitate to let me know, okay? Okay. Bye.

Colleen: How is your brother?

Nikolas: He's not well. He refuses to accept that he needs treatment.

Colleen: I may know a way to help.

Nikolas: Oh.

Colleen: When I was in college, I had a boyfriend named Karl. He was smart, handsome, came from a good family. Needless to say, it didn't take long for me to fall hopelessly in love. Things were perfect for about a year. That's when Karl began to change.

Nikolas: In what way?

Colleen: Karl started hanging out at this bar near campus. At first, it was just a couple of nights a week with friends, but somehow those two nights turned into five. And before long, Karl was drinking from the time he got up until he passed back out. I knew he had a problem, so one night I went to confront him. I begged him to stop drinking. I even tried to take the bottle away, and he hit me.

Nikolas: What did you do?

Colleen: The only thing I could. I gathered all of his family and friends together and we staged an intervention. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've been where you are, and you shouldn't give up, even if it seems like your brother has.

Nikolas: Thank you. Yeah, yeah. I mean, Lucky's allowing this addiction to pretty much take over his entire life. You know, it's like he's --

Colleen: Drowning right in front of you.

Nikolas: Yeah, and he's taking his marriage right down with him. I mean, I don't know. Maybe I need to do something as drastic as an intervention.

Colleen: When you love someone, there are times you have to do things that they wouldn't like.

Emily: Hi, I let myself in. I hope you don't mind.

Nikolas: No, no, no, of course not. I'm glad you're here. You're the only one who can help me with Lucky.

Nikolas: So I called Bluffside Recovery this morning to reserve a spot for Lucky.

Emily: So he agreed to go into rehab?

Nikolas: No, not yet.

Emily: Nikolas, you know Lucky needs to be the one to make that decision. If not, he's going to --

Nikolas: Yeah, I know. Colleen, could -- I'm sorry. Could you go grab Spencer an extra blanket? I just felt a draft in here. I just don't want him to get sick, okay?

Colleen: Certainly.

Nikolas: Thanks. Um -- I can't force Lucky into anything if I can't find him.

Emily: What, no one's heard from him?

Nikolas: After last night, I think it's best that he stays away from Elizabeth right now, especially in her condition.

Emily: What condition?

Nikolas: Well, I mean, she's devastated. She believes that her marriage is over, and she's really worried about raising a child without Lucky in her life.

Emily: Elizabeth had to leave. It's the only way Lucky's ever going to realize that he needs help.

Nikolas: Well, Colleen suggested an intervention. She said it worked for an old boyfriend of hers.

Emily: That doesn't mean that it's going to work for Lucky. See, when my dad was addicted to Hydrocodone, he mistook any offer for help as a sign that we were trying to control him. The harder we pushed, the more he used. He had to bottom out before he could pull himself back up again.

Nikolas: Lucky's already bottomed out. Elizabeth's left. She's gone. She took Cameron with him.

Emily: Okay, well, maybe it's not enough.

Nikolas: "Not enough"?

Emily: Maybe he has to lose his job or get arrested.

Nikolas: No, Emily, I'm not going to let it come to that point, okay, and I'd really appreciate it if you'd stop trying to talk me out of this.

Colleen: Sounds to me like Emily made your daddy mad. That's what she gets for poking her prissy little nose into our conversation.

Pager beeps.

Colleen: What do we have here, Spencer? Huh. Looks important.

Beeping stops.

Colleen: Too bad Emily wasn't around to hear it. Now she'll never know.

Nikolas: I'm sorry. It was unfair of me take out my frustration with Lucky on you.

Emily: No, there's no need to apologize. You have every right to feel overwhelmed.

Nikolas: I just wish that were all I was feeling. I'm just so disappointed in Lucky and really appalled by his behavior.

Emily: Well, that's how I feel every time I try to have dinner with the Quartermaines.

Nikolas and Emily laugh.

Nikolas: You never miss an opportunity to make me feel better, do you?

Emily: Not if I can help it.

Nikolas: Well, that's why you're going to make an excellent doctor. You always know what a person needs.

Emily: Oh, yeah. If that were true, I would've already found a way to help Lucky overcome his addiction.

Nikolas: Well, certainly not for a lack of effort. We've all tried.

Emily: Yeah, what about Luke? I mean, he might be able to help Lucky get through this.

Nikolas: Lucky's still furious with Luke for supporting Lulu's decision to have the abortion, so -- my sister made a difficult choice, and I'm worried about how it'll affect her in the long run.

Emily: Well, I know how it's affecting Dillon. I just think someone has to worry about him, too.

Emily: Dillon grew up without ever really knowing his father. He saw Lulu's pregnancy as a chance to make up for that, to be the father he never had.

Nikolas: And Luke was never much of a father to Lulu. See, I think that's why Lucky was resisting the abortion so much, because he thinks that Luke is just looking for the quick fix, like he always does.

Emily: So you're afraid that if Luke tries to intervene with Lucky, Lucky's just going to see it as Luke trying to get back at him?

Nikolas: Well, given Luke's own history with substance abuse, I don't think he's the best person to be giving advice on overcoming an addiction.

Emily: He could be the perfect person. He might be an example of what Lucky might become if he doesn't clean up his life. I mean, of course, we'd all have to tell Luke that he's going to be used as a cautionary tale when we ask him to confront Lucky.

Nikolas: That might work. Let's see. Tracy? Hello, it's Nikolas Cassadine. Is Luke there? What do you mean, "Not for long"? Oh. Thank you.

Emily: What's wrong?

Nikolas: Luke's leaving town.

Emily: Now?

Nikolas: Hey, what better time? I mean, his son's wrecking his life and his daughter just had an abortion. What is it going to take for him to finally realize that his children need him in their lives? What's it going to take?

Emily: Laura. Your mother was the only person that ever had any sort of influence over Luke. I mean, I can't imagine him denying her much of anything, no matter what the sacrifice.

Nikolas: I wish that my mother were an option, but she's not.

Emily: Okay. All right. Um -- you know what? Then we'll just -- we'll keep trying. We won't stop until we get Lucky into treatment.

Nikolas: You're amazing. You never give up hope, do you? I'm really glad that you're still in my life.

Emily: Me, too.

Phone rings.

Nikolas: Nikolas Cassadine. Yes, Monica, she is here. Hold on. It's your mother. She's at the hospital.

Emily: Oh.

Nikolas: Doesn't sound very happy with you.

Emily: What? Mom?

Monica: Right now it's Dr. Quartermaine addressing an intern. Why aren't you at the hospital?

Emily: My shift doesn't start for another few hours.

Monica: When your pager goes off, you come to the hospital, regardless of your shift.

Emily: I never got a page.

Monica: Emily, there are rules in this hospital, and one of them is your pager remains on at all times, whether you are with Nikolas or whatever you are doing. You don't just turn it off because you can't be bothered.

Emily: Mom, you don't understand.

Monica: Look, I don't have time right now for excuses. I need you here at the hospital. There's been a bus accident. I need you in E.R. for triage.

Emily: Okay, I'm on my way.

Nikolas: What's wrong?

Emily: There was a bus accident. The hospital says that they paged me to come in, but I never heard my pager. Okay, that's weird.

Nikolas: What?

Emily: My pager's off. I never turn my pager off.

Pager beeps.

Emily: My only real responsibility as an intern is to respond to this thing whenever it beeps, but -- yeah. That didn't happen. That's all they're going to understand.

Nikolas: You want me to come to the hospital with you and help explain the situation to your mother?

Emily: If you have an explanation for this, I would love to hear it.

Nikolas: I'm sure there's any number of reasons why it's off. I don't know.

Emily: No. I know for a fact that I didn't turn off this pager. But I have a pretty good idea who did.

Nikolas: I'll walk you to the launch.

Emily: Yeah, all right.
