Nikolas: As you may know, John was named after Mr. Jack's father. Thank you. And it's a good name. And I'm sure that Jax's father is a worthy man, but it's not part of my son's heritage. Therefore, I've been thinking about changing John's name -- unless you feel it would do more harm than good.
Colleen: The boy is too young to know the difference. And I can certainly understand your desire to pick a name that has more meaning in your family.
Nikolas: Good. I'm glad you approve.
Colleen: You could name your son after the uncle you've mentioned.
Nikolas: Stefan?
Colleen: You said the two of you were estranged when he died, but he did raise you. And when you speak of him, it's clear how much you loved him.
Nikolas: You're right. The name Stefan would have meaning to me. As it would my son. You know us pretty well.
Alfred: If I may, sir. It might be wise to speak about the name change with someone who knew you when your uncle was alive.
Nikolas: Someone like -- oh, Emily, perhaps?
Alfred: Excellent, suggestion, sir. I will call her now.
Colleen: You know, I -- I don't think Alfred has any idea how uncomfortable this must make Emily. You know, if you like --
Nikolas: No, no, no.
Colleen: I'll go and talk --
Nikolas: It's all right. Emily's amused by Alfred's efforts. She finds him charming.
Colleen: I had a sense you felt awkward about it, too.
Nikolas: No. No, not really. The truth is I actually like it when Alfred brings Emily back into my life.
Alfred: So good to see you, Miss Emily.
Emily: Yes, thank you, Alfred. Alfred seems happy.
Nikolas: Any day that he can lure you here is a good day for him.
Emily: So what did you want to see me about?
Nikolas: Well, I'm thinking about changing John's name. I -- I tried to get used to it, but every time I say it, it just -- it reminds me of the lie that kept him away from me.
Emily: So, you want to pick your own name?
Nikolas: Ahem -- yeah. Does that seem petty at all?
Emily: I think I'd feel the same if I were you.
Nikolas: Oh. I'm happy that you understand.
Emily: So what have you come up with?
Nikolas: Sonny?
Emily: Shut up!
Nikolas: Colleen actually suggested Stefan.
Emily: Yeah, I -- you know, you -- you loved your uncle very much. And he'd be thrilled to know that you named your son after him.
Nikolas: That's -- that's a generous thought, considering he once tried to kill you.
Emily: Well, you loved him very much when you were younger, and, you know, if the name feels right to you, then I think you should --
Nikolas: No, I -- I actually had another name in mind.
Emily: Please don't tell me Darius or Mikkos.
Nikolas: No. No, no, no, no. It's -- it's more dramatic than that. You know, the Cassadines and -- and the Spencers have been at war for -- for decades, right? And Lucky and I used to say that that war ended with us. For various reasons, that hasn't seemed to matter. Maybe this is a way to bridge the gap so my children can -- can live in peace. So, I want to name my son after my brother and sister. Spencer Cassadine. What do you think about that?
Emily: Nikolas, that's beautiful.
Nikolas: Yeah? And Luke will love it, of course.
Emily: Yeah, well, Lucky will, and -- and so will Lulu. And -- I think it's the perfect gesture.
Nikolas: You can help. You be Spencer's godmother.
Emily: It's so nice of you to ask, Nikolas, but wouldn't Alexis be a better choice for a godmother?
Nikolas: I'm -- I'm sorry. I put you in an awkward position.
Emily: No, how so?
Nikolas: Well, I'm sure Sonny's not comfortable with the idea of us being friends since our divorce.
Emily: Sonny's not an issue anymore.
Nikolas: What do you mean?
Emily: Things have changed.
Nikolas: I don't mean to pry, but --
Emily: No, it's all right. Everybody's going to find out soon enough. Um -- Sonny and I broke up.
Nikolas: I'm sorry to hear that.
Emily: Yeah, for all his flaws, he was good to me. He -- he taught me a lot of things, and he helped me out in many ways. And -- you're relieved, aren't you?
Nikolas: I do think that you're better off without him.
Emily: You saw him at his worst, Nikolas, when -- when he lost it on you at the Haunted Star, but he honestly never hurt me.
Nikolas: All the same, you're -- you're safer now, I think. And that's the last time I'm going to say that.
Emily: Okay, thank you.
Nikolas: I promise.
Emily: All right.
Nikolas: But, see, now there's no reason why you can't be Spencer's godmother.
Emily: See, Alexis is your aunt. She's more suitable than your ex-wife, or you could ask Lulu or Elizabeth.
Nikolas: You don't want to do it?
Emily: I just want you to be sure that you want me.
Nikolas: Well, I've -- I've found myself remembering when we were married. And you raised the idea of us -- of us having children. You were so sure that I would be a good father. I knew that you would be a wonderful mother. I just -- I -- I can't think of anyone more suitable than you to help me guide my son through life.
Emily: I'd love to be Spencer's godmother.
Nikolas: You would?
Emily: Of course. I'm moving on with my life, and -- and knowing that your son is going to be a part of it will give me something to look forward to.
Nikolas: Good. Thank you. Now you're on diaper duty --
Emily: Oh, shut up.
Nikolas: So get upstairs. Let's go.
Emily: Stop.
Alfred: I'm delighted to hear that you'll be the godmother, Miss Emily. Would you like a quick refreshment?
Emily: Uh -- maybe next time, Alfred I've -- I've got to run. That's a great name and ever so sweet to pick that out.
Nikolas: Thank you. And thanks for stopping by.
Emily: Yes, my pleasure.
Nikolas: I'll walk you out.
Emily: Okay. Thank you, Alfred.
Nikolas: What are you up to, Alfred?
Alfred: I was just plumping the cushion on the couch, sir.
Nikolas: Yeah, right, right.
Alfred: Would you like a refreshment?
Nikolas: No. No, no, thank you, I'll wait for lunch. Could you go find out what we're having, please?
Alfred: Certainly, sir.
Colleen: I was just about to take John -- I mean, Spencer -- down to the water.
Nikolas: Yeah, yeah, that sounds like a -- a good idea. It's been so hot today.
Colleen: And he loves to splash. Is there any chance you'd like to cancel your afternoon business and join us?
