Elizabeth: So underneath all the hurt, Emily finally realized that she really does love Nikolas and that he is who she wants to be with for the rest of her life.

Lucky: Well, let's just hope they find a way back together.

Elizabeth: Oh, they will, and so will Jax and Courtney because I refuse to believe that this will not work out.

Lucky: Maybe you're right. Maybe love really will find a way.

Elizabeth: Uh-uh, you don't sound so convinced.

Lucky: I'm trying.

Elizabeth: The nightmare is over for all of us.

Jax: Hey.

Courtney: Were you waiting for me?

Jax: I was. Thought we should spend a little time together, get to know each other again.

Courtney: Or not.

Jax: Everything all right?

Courtney: Oh, I'm really good, actually.

Jax: Where have you been?

Courtney: At Wyndemere, making love to Nikolas.

Jax: Haven't you been sleeping with Nikolas all along?

Courtney: Well, actually, tonight was the first time.

Jax: Really? Wow. So -- so why tonight, or do I even have to ask?

Courtney: Why -- I did it for you, Jax, save you the misery of being married to me until the baby's born. I'm giving you the perfect reason for a quickie divorce -- adultery.

Emily: Tonight I realized how wrong I've been. Nikolas, it was a mistake to let go of our love so easily. Of course I love you. I always will. And the last thing that I want is a divorce.

Nikolas: Emily --

Emily: Oh, Nikolas, my heart doesn't know how to let go. Will you give me another chance?

Nikolas: I'm sorry. But it is too late.

Elizabeth: To Emily and Nikolas and their passionate reunion.

Lucky: Don't get your hopes up.

Elizabeth: Oh, by tomorrow morning, they will be madly in love again.

Lucky: No, you are part of an endangered species, you know that?

Elizabeth: I am?

Lucky: Yeah, the last of the great romantics.

Elizabeth: Oh, the world is full of romantics. They just won't admit it.

Lucky: Mm-hmm. Why's that?

Elizabeth: Because they almost never find their true soul mates. But we have, and so have Emily and Nikolas.

Nikolas: Emily, you said to me today that our love was gone and that you hoped that I wouldn't fight the divorce. Do you understand?

Emily: No, Nikolas, it's all right.

Nikolas: No, no, it's not all right. You know what that did? And then you come here and you open your heart to me, you know, and I wish that I could just come back to you, but --

Emily: Don't wish, okay? Wishes don't do anyone any good. I wish that I'd never been raped and that you wouldn't have gone to prison. I wish that I never met Connor Bishop and that you hadn't had a car accident and wound up at Mary’s door. Yeah, see how that works? Once you start wishing, you can't stop. How far back do you go, you know, and what wish if it were to come true to make everything all right. I wish that, uh, you hadn't been with Courtney tonight. But you were, weren't you?

Nikolas: Jax lied about wanting to reconcile. He, uh -- once he got custody, he planned to divorce Courtney.

Emily: So she left him. Yeah.

Nikolas: Mm-hmm.

Emily: And she came to you. And so you made love.

Nikolas: Yes. But I swear to you this was the first time.

Courtney: You are a world-class liar, Jax, I'll give you that. I mean, I actually believed that you loved me, that you wanted to rebuild our marriage. I thought that you were a decent guy. I did. I mean, I refused to believe that you would deceive so many people and hurt an unborn child just so that you could win.

Jax: You're just making excuses for your own behavior.

Courtney: Oh, wait, what, you mean sleeping with Nikolas or being stupid enough to believe in you? You never loved me, Jax, you just loved the chase. But, no, once we got married, you needed a new challenge, so you found one.

Jax: You wanted the surrogacy as much as I did.

Courtney: No, no, not even close, Jax. You chose to lie, to manipulate. I mean, you are so determined to do whatever it takes to win this baby. I was just an accessory, a prop, a means to an end. I'm finished.

Jax: Was sleeping with Nikolas worth it?

Courtney: Nikolas was so worth it. Unbelievably worth it.

Jax: I wasn't asking if it was good sex, sweetie. I'm just wondering if you care about all the people that you shredded along the way.

Courtney: No, you see, getting what you want at any cost is your game, Jax. You need to experience the chase, the conquest. But once it's over, you move on. You move on to the next woman, the next big deal, a surrogacy -- anything to keep from getting close.

Jax: Do you even care that you destroyed Nikolas and Emily’s marriage?

Courtney: No, no, look, they were in trouble way before I showed up.

Jax: You did push them over the edge, didn't you? You were the straw on the camel's back, right? And what about my baby? Do you even care what happens to it?

Courtney: It is not just your baby, Jax. It's Elizabeth’s, too, okay?

Jax: I know.

Courtney: She is not going to let you take away her child no matter how you try to move the deal around. There are some things that money can't buy.

Jax: Perhaps. But you certainly aren't one of them, are you? You started out, what, as a waitress in this town? Then you married A.J. Quartermaine. Then when his family threw him out, you realized the big money wasn't coming in anymore, so you moved on to his brother, Jason, who's just as rich, if not richer than the Quartermaines, but you realized that his money was a little too dirty for you. So then you came to me.

Courtney: That bet was your idea.

Jax: Yeah, but you still cashed in all the same.

Courtney: Yeah, well, I never asked you to be so extravagant, Jax.

Jax: Oh, well, see, you even picked up some class along the way. Nikolas doesn't have to be extravagant because he's old money, ancient money.

Courtney: I have plenty of my own money, thank you.

Jax: I'm just saying you'll never be as rich as Nikolas.

Courtney: You don't even know what you're talking about.

Jax: Don't let him fool you, okay? Nikolas Cassadine trumps a gunner like me and gold digger like you any day of the week. You do pretty well for yourself -- you know, from a waitress to shacking up with a prince. Have a good work ethic, even if it means working on your back.

Courtney: Wow, Jax. I mean, what happened to all your beautiful manners, huh? I mean, all your phony charm, I guess it all just goes out the window when somebody tries to get in your way. You're never going to get custody of that child.

Jax: No, I just realized what a cheap tramp you are, that's all. I should've listened to my mother.

Courtney: Okay, you want to think I'm a slut, that's fine. You want to think that you're better than me, that you're some great guy, that's fine, too, but what do you have to show, Jax? A wife? No, no, I wasn't good enough for you. And what about Brenda, huh? How many times did she dump you for my brother? I'm sorry, didn't you sleep with Brenda on your honeymoon with Skye? But, no, that's fine, right, because you're Jasper Jacks. You don't have to follow the rules. You're charming and handsome and rich. Well, enjoy your money, Jax, because that's all you have left.

Nikolas: I'm so sorry.

Emily: No, Nikolas, I -- I am. Talk about bad timing.

Nikolas: No, it's not. It's just, you know, whatever you were upset about before, you know that thing with Jason that you thought you needed me for, you know, I wanted to help. I want to help. It's --

Emily: No, no, no, thanks, Nikolas. I was being unfair, I guess.

Nikolas: No, it's not -- it's not that. It's not about that.

Emily: No, I told you that I wanted out of the marriage and then I just show up and expect you to be waiting to comfort me, you know, when something bad happens.

Nikolas: Well, see, that's it. You know, I want to comfort you. I just broke your heart, you know, and I just -- I want to run to you and I want to hold you and I want to tell you that everything's going to be all right. That's what I -- that's what I've always been able to do before, ever since you were a kid. And then -- oh, God, I'm sorry -- you got raped. And that was the one thing, finally the one thing that I couldn't make all right for you.

Emily: You --

Nikolas: You know, I tried and I tried. I really --

Emily: You were wonderful, Nikolas. You were everything I needed. You were the perfect boy to have a crush on and the perfect man to fall in love with. You -- you gave me the fairy tale come true. You know, not all fairy tales have happy endings. Most of the great ones don’t. You know, when you and I first got together, I was with Zander, so I understand what happened tonight. I -- I know that it was no one's fault and, you know, maybe to be fair, I probably had it coming all along.

Nikolas: No, no, I'll never believe that, okay?

Emily: No, I'm just saying that people change, you know, our hearts change even, you know, when we wish they wouldn’t. Oh. Wishes again. Huh. Really need to give up that word. But I'm going to use it one last time. I wish you every happiness because that's what you deserve.

Emily: Hey.

Elizabeth: Hey. What happened? Where's -- where's Nikolas?

Emily: Probably with Courtney.

Elizabeth: Aw, honey, come here. Oh.

Emily: Yeah, you were right. Jax was stringing Courtney along to get the baby.

Lucky: I knew it.

Emily: Yeah.

Elizabeth: Are you absolutely sure?

Emily: Courtney found out and she went to Nikolas and they made love tonight.

Elizabeth: Honey, I'm so sorry.

Emily: You know, I -- I asked Nikolas for a divorce. I told him that I wanted out of our marriage. You know, why should he believe me anyway?

Knock on door.

Jax: I assume we're all up to speed.

Courtney: Hey.

Nikolas: Hi. So I talked to Emily. She wishes us well.

Courtney: I see. Jax doesn’t. I mean wish us well.

Nikolas: That doesn't surprise me.

Courtney: He called me a gold-digging slut, among other things.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, he's a selfish bastard, so there you go.

Courtney: Oh, it makes everything easier, though, you know? Just proves that my marriage was a huge mistake and that I'm better off without him. But, Nikolas, Emily -- I think maybe you need some time to yourself. I'm going to --

Nikolas: No, wait. I need you.

Lucky: Whatever you're after, now is not the time.

Jax: Well, Lucky, I'd have to disagree.

Elizabeth: Can we do this in the morning? Emily's not feeling really well and I just want to --

Emily: It's okay, Elizabeth. Yeah, I need some time alone.

Elizabeth: Are you sure?

Emily: Yeah. I'll call you later, okay? Bye.

Lucky: Your timing is lousy.

Jax: Well, I'll just cut to the chase. I want to offer you $5 million and visitation rights in return for primary custody of our child.

Courtney: Does it feel strange being here with me?

Nikolas: Yeah, a little, I guess. I mean, I don't regret what happened. I just -- I don't really know where we go from here.

Courtney: Look, I'm -- I'm better off walking away from my marriage. I'll never look back. But you and Emily -- I mean, she has loved you for such a long time, Nikolas. She never set out to hurt you.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Courtney: I mean, even now, she -- she wants what's best for you.

Nikolas: I know.

Courtney: Look, maybe -- maybe Emily is what's best. I mean, she'd take you back in a heartbeat. So before we move on with whatever we have, do you want to go back to your wife?

Nikolas: You know, I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with Emily. I couldn't imagine anything that would ever keep us apart.

Courtney: Look, if you need to give your marriage another try, Nikolas, I'll understand.

Nikolas: No. Emily and I don't -- we don't have a marriage left, Courtney. She's been trying to leave me for months. She just -- she didn't say the words. But now she has. She said our love was gone, that she wanted a divorce.

Courtney: Yeah, but she changed her mind.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, she had a moment of regret, but we can't get it back. You know, it's too late for me and Emily and it has nothing to do with you.

Courtney: Are you sure?

Nikolas: Yeah. Yeah, I am. Emily and I were over the moment Connor Bishop raped her, and that's -- you know, that's what's so sad. That's why it hurts so much to let go. But I can't and I just won't turn back.

Lucky: You can't just show up here, throw your money around, and push Elizabeth into something she doesn't want.

Jax: No, no, I'm simply offering to renegotiate.

Lucky: It sounds like a threat to me.

Jax: It's a good offer.

Lucky: Give her some time to think about it.

Elizabeth: I don't need to think about it. I want my baby to grow up in a loving home with honest people, where mistakes can be made and forgiven. And like I've said before, with two parents who love each other.

Jax: Elizabeth, I already love this child.

Elizabeth: Well, apparently not enough to work things out with Courtney.

Jax: Listen, when I entered into this contract, I thought that Courtney and I would be together forever. Okay, but why should -- why should an innocent child pay for the mistakes that I made? I'm committed to this baby. I'm not -- I'm not just going to walk away.

Lucky: Then why did you lie to Courtney?

Jax: Because she had an affair!

Elizabeth: For God sakes, Jax, they didn't even sleep together until tonight!

Jax: And what does that tell you? She just couldn't -- she couldn't wait to jump into bed with him. Courtney made her choices; she's going to have to live with those. My only concern right now is the baby, okay? I can give this child an amazing life.

Elizabeth: Well, it wasn't the deal I made.

Lucky: You had a chance to give this baby a family and you blew it, and you also blew two marriages along the way. Ahem.

Jax: I'll take that as a no.

Elizabeth: I want to refund what's left of the deposit from Jax.

Lucky: So do I. Because we'll need that money to fight him in court. He will hire the best lawyers in the country.

Elizabeth: So we'll get our own lawyers. You just have to ask your brother for help.

Lucky: Oh, that's a bad idea.

Elizabeth: Well, do you have a better one?

Lucky: I don't even know my brother anymore. How could he pick Courtney over Emily?

Elizabeth: It isn't that simple.

Lucky: I disagree. You know what? If he would've stayed away from Courtney, this whole thing would've never happened.

Elizabeth: Having this baby was my idea. You want to start passing the blame around, start with me.

Courtney: Are you okay?

Nikolas: Yeah. I'm okay. You?

Courtney: Fine.

Nikolas: I think we're going to be all right.

Courtney: Yeah, I know.

Nikolas: We deserve to be all right, don't we?

Jax: Emily?

Emily: Oh, God, please, just go away.

Jax: Maybe we should give our spouses a taste of their own medicine.

Emily: You did this, Jax. You lied to Courtney, to Elizabeth, to Lucky, to all of us! You couldn't just let the flirtation play itself out, you had to set a trap for your wife, and now she's with Nikolas.

Jax: Hey.
