Emily: All right, Jase -- okay, what -- what are you doing out of bed? Are you all right?
Jason: You're my sister, right?
Emily: Emily. I'm the one who showed up at your house and insisted you go to the hospital.
Jason: I remember.
Emily: Okay, you tried to walk away and you wound up passing out instead, so I'd like to avoid reliving that incident, so could you please get back in bed?
Jason: Yeah.
Emily: Are you feeling any better?
Jason: Yeah, I guess so.
Emily: Are you having another headache?
Jason: Yeah, it's not that bad.
Emily: Yeah, well, I know the doctors are running all kinds of tests and they'll figure out how to help you, and the sooner the better. I need you.
Jason: Why?
Emily: I need your take on things, your advice. You're always completely honest with me. You never judge me. You're the rock in my life. It's kind of selfish, but you have to get through this, Jason. I want my brother back.
Jason: I'm a good brother?
Emily: The best.
Jason: Will you be honest with me?
Emily: Of course.
Jason: How sick am I?
Courtney: God, I can't believe we're finally together.
Nikolas: Yeah. It was kind of a bad night until you showed up.
Courtney: God, after the millions of times Jax said he couldn't trust me, it turns out he was setting me up. Lying to me and everybody else just so he could get custody of the baby, so that he could win. Oh, God, our marriage is a sham. I've been fighting what's already done.
Nikolas: You all right? Courtney I don't regret what we've done, if that's what you're asking. I mean, I don't regret a single moment that we've spent together.
Nikolas: Good.
Courtney: But I didn't go looking for you. Well, except for tonight. I mean, I didn't -- I didn't seek you out.
Nikolas: I -- I know, I know.
Courtney: I just needed someone to listen to me and you -- you listened to me, you know? You didn't try to change anything or talk me out of my feelings. You just -- you just let me be.
Nikolas: Yeah. Well, that's -- that's debatable. Yeah, I mean, the first -- the first couple of times we met, it was definitely by accident. But after that --
Courtney: What?
Nikolas: I admit that I -- that I would go down to the docks hoping to see you.
Courtney: Does that mean that you have regrets?
Nikolas: I'm a Cassadine. Regrets are in my D.N.A.
Courtney: Well, would it help if you tell me?
Nikolas: Okay. I regret that I wasn't able to give Emily what she needed. You know, I -- I wanted so bad to be able to bring her -- bring her back into our life, and I just couldn’t.
Courtney: Yeah, but she -- you did try.
Nikolas: Yeah, I did. I did. I don't know, maybe I am just like the rest of my family who destroy everyone that they love. Not set out to hurt Emily. She knows that.
Nikolas: Thank you for reminding me of that. Thank you for helping me see things in a better light.
Courtney: You do that for me, too.
Nikolas: I do? Yeah? See, look -- made me smile again.
Courtney: Hmm. Even after I clobbered you?
Nikolas: Oh, my God. Man, that storm and that night in the stables seems like so long ago, doesn't it?
Courtney: Yeah. It was.
Nikolas: Yeah. So, hey -- are we past the coincidence stage yet, or what?
Courtney: Oh, I think we passed that a while ago.
Nikolas: God, it feels.
Courtney: Look, I don't -- I don't want to hide anything. I'm going to tell Jax what happened.
Emily: Jason has a right to know what's going on. So what are we going to tell him?
Sam: We're going to tell him that the medication will work and he's going to be fine.
Monica: He needs to know all of his options.
Sam: He needs to know that he's going to get through this. I'm going to go check on him.
Emily: So what are his options?
Monica: If the medication doesn't work, then it's brain surgery.
Emily: And we both know that's not an option because he's not going to do it.
Monica: Well, I don't think I would either, Em.
Emily: Yeah.
Monica: I mean, he could end up just a lot worse than he is right now. Oh, I haven't -- I haven't allowed myself to think of Jason’s future in so many years. I know that Alan is hoping that -- that he'll wake up after one seizure and he will be Jason Quartermaine all over again, that bright, shining star so gifted and so -- so full of promise.
Emily: We can all be pretty sure that's not going to happen, huh?
Monica: I just want him to live. I rebuilt a relationship with him once. I could do it again, if he would just survive. But he's not going to agree to brain surgery.
Emily: Jason's condition could be terminal unless he agrees to treatment, and Tony put him on a new medication, but if it doesn't work, he's going to need surgery.
Elizabeth: Oh, God, Em.
Emily: Yeah, he won't do it, Elizabeth. You know, anybody who knows Jason knows that he would rather die than risk a surgery that's going to put him in a coma.
Elizabeth: Well, the medicine will work.
Emily: No, what if it doesn't? You know, Jason’s been living on borrowed time for years. I mean, this might really be it.
Elizabeth: Okay, what can I do to help you?
Emily: I don't know. You know, when I heard the prognosis and I realized that Jason really could die, all I wanted was, you know, to have someone hold me and -- and let me scream that this isn't fair.
Elizabeth: You need Nikolas.
Nikolas: Maybe you're right. Maybe it's just best to have everything out in the open.
Courtney: Well, we have nothing to hide. I'll just move back into my loft, I'll give Jax the divorce he wants. I don't need his money. I never did.
Nikolas: What about the baby?
Courtney: Oh, gosh. Well, you know there's going to be a custody battle no matter what I do. At least this way Elizabeth will know what's really going on.
Nikolas: She and Lucky are going to need our support.
Courtney: Yeah, I'm not exactly their favorite person.
Nikolas: Hey, once they get to know you, Courtney, they won't feel that way.
Courtney: You know what? We're free now. Nothing else matters. We can see each other whenever we want. You know, no more secrets, no guilt.
Nikolas: I think I should come with you.
Courtney: No, absolutely not.
Nikolas: What -- I don't want you to have to deal with him alone.
Courtney: Well, this -- this is between me and Jax. It has nothing to do with you.
Nikolas: I -- I wish that were true, Courtney, but --
Courtney: Look, Nikolas, Jax chose to look me in the eye and tell me that he loves me, but he doesn’t. You know, he swore that he wanted me to be the mother of his child when that's really the last thing that he wants.
Nikolas: But you and Jax were fine until I came along.
Courtney: Oh, come on. You know better than that. Jax loves the chase. But when he wins, he needs another chase. I mean, it's anything to keep from getting too close. Look, if it hadn't been the surrogacy arrangement, it would've been something else. You know, he needed another challenge, another chase, so paying Elizabeth to have his child was perfect. You know, he protected himself; he hedged his bets.
Nikolas: Jax won't see it that way, Courtney.
Courtney: Look, I will never be the woman that Jax really wants. That means that he never has to get too close. You know, he's never going to put his heart at risk or show me who he really is inside, and I refuse to live like that.
Nikolas: Okay. It sounds like you really thought this through.
Courtney: Yeah. Well, I've had my share of dark times, too. I'm not even a Cassadine. [Nikolas laughs]
Nikolas: But you know Jax will blame us for this.
Courtney: Oh, yeah, I'm sure he will. But, you know, Nikolas, he's -- he's kind of right.
Nikolas: Yep.
Courtney: My marriage is so over. I just -- I need to see him face to face, just the two of us.
Nikolas: All right. Okay. Well, I'll just -- I'll wait here for you.
Courtney: You don't have to do that.
Nikolas: I know. You telling me not to?
Courtney: No. I guess it would help knowing --
Nikolas: All right, all right, then I'll be right here.
Courtney: Okay.
Nikolas: All right.
Courtney: Okay.
Emily: It's not just that I need Nikolas to help me with Jason. It's that I'm finally realizing that Nikolas is my family. You know, I -- I married him. I promised to stay with him, for better, for worse. You know, I'm finally starting to understand what that means now. I can't just walk away.
Elizabeth: Well, then you better start walking back.
Emily: I don't know.
Elizabeth: Go, Emily, tell him everything. It's not too late. Jax and Courtney got back together and you guys can, too.
Emily: Okay, you're right. I have to see him tonight.
Emily: Nikolas. I -- I can't believe you're out here. I was just on my way to the launch.
Nikolas: For what? Are you going out to Wyndemere?
Emily: Listen, I just realized tonight. Oh -- listen, something terrible happened with Jason and -- oh, look, I know I'm not making any sense. I -- I realized tonight, Nikolas, that I love you more than I'll ever love anyone. I love you the way Lila loved grandfather. She forgave him for a lot more than you've ever done. She stayed with him through the bad times, like I want to stay with you. Nikolas, it was a mistake to ask for a divorce. We have a real love. We have a connection that can't be broken. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Please tell me it's not too late.
