October 24, 2005 Screencaps

Emily: You can't be serious.

Monica: About what?

Alan: About Emily’s life, her future, her career.

Emily: Dad's threatening to get me kicked out of medical school if I don't leave Sonny’s.

Monica: Have you lost your mind?

Alan: I'm not going to apologize for taking a stand in order to protect our daughter against Sonny or herself. What's your answer?

Emily: Go to hell!

Mike: Hey, princess.

Courtney: Hey.

Mike: Are you okay?

Courtney: Yeah, I -- I could use some moral support, though. I'm on my way to the hospital for the paternity test, and -- I mean, Nikolas is probably the father, but if it's Jax, I'll just have to adjust, I guess.

Mike: Listen, why don't I drive you over to the hospital?

Nikolas: I'd like to take you, if it's okay.

Courtney: Nikolas, you don't -- you don't have to go to the hospital with me for the paternity test. It's okay.

Nikolas: Yeah, I know, but I want to. And if -- you know, if it turns out that I'm not the father, it's not going to change how I feel about you or the baby.

Courtney: You know, I'm praying that the baby is yours.

Nikolas: Me, too.

Courtney: God, I can't even -- I can't even imagine what people are going to think of me after this.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, we could have managed the situation with a bit more tact, but --

Courtney: Yeah.

Nikolas: You know, our mistakes won't reflect on the baby, and we don't have anything to prove to anyone.

Courtney: Maybe you don't, but I sure do.

Nikolas: Listen, listen. Listen, this baby is a miracle for you. And every moment you spend being pregnant should be joyful.

Courtney: Don't worry. Whatever happens, I am thrilled about this baby.

Nikolas: That makes two of us. And I want to share this experience with you. Okay? Will you allow me to do that?

Courtney: Mm-hmm.

Nikolas: Hey, come here.

Emily: You don't care about my future as a doctor, dad. You only want to get back at Sonny.

Alan: I lost A.J. and Jason to that criminal. I'll be damned if I'm going to lose you, Emily.

Emily: So you try to get me kicked out of medical school?

Alan: Just consider it a wake-up call.

Emily: I had a documented medical reason to ask for an extension on that project.

Alan: You would have never been stabbed if you weren't living at Sonny’s.

Monica: Look, disagreeing with Emily is one thing. I'm not going to let you blackmail her.

Emily: Has it occurred to you to be proud of me, dad? To be glad that I'm trying to stay connected to Michael?

Alan: Michael shouldn't be there, either.

Emily: Sonny is Michael’s father.

Alan: No, he's not.

Emily: Yes, he is, legally, emotionally, and you can't change that any more than you can try to control my life.

Monica: Congratulations, Alan. You've just made her more determined than ever to stay with Sonny.

Emily: Even if you do manage to get me kicked out of medical school, I'm going to start over someplace else, dad, and as far away from you as I can get.

Alan: Well, good. You'll be far away from Sonny, as well.

Monica: Why are you trying to push away the only child we have left?

Alan: I'm trying to help her. I'm trying to help you, Emily.

Emily: You don't get to keep me from being a doctor. And I'll stay at Sonny's and I'll help with those boys for as long as they need me.

Nikolas: When you're finished, I am going to buy you the biggest hot fudge sundae your father can dish out.

Courtney: That sounds great.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Courtney: You know, I haven't really had any cravings yet. Is that weird?

Nikolas: No. No. I have. I've been craving sundaes and chili. That's weird.

Courtney: The Cassadine Prince craving diner food.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Courtney: That's kind of --

Emily: Hi.

Courtney: Hi.

Nikolas: Hi.

Emily: Dr. Meadows is expecting you.

Courtney: Great.

Emily: I hope you get the news you want. Good luck.

Courtney: Thanks.

Dr. Meadows: Courtney.

Courtney: Hi.

Dr. Meadows: We're all set up for the C.V.S.

Nikolas: Chronic villi sampling.

Courtney: What?

Nikolas: Sorry, I researched it on the internet.

Dr. Meadows: So, you won't be surprised at what I'm about to say.

Courtney: Is there a problem?

Dr. Meadows: I am legally obligated to warn you that in a small percentage of patients, this procedure may trigger a miscarriage.

Dr. Meadows: There's a 2%-3% risk of miscarriage for this procedure. It's a low number, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Courtney: I, um -- I need to know who the father is as soon as possible, so I'll take the test.

Dr. Meadows: Are you sure?

Courtney: Yeah. We're going to need a sample of your D.N.A.

Nikolas: Okay, sure.

Courtney: And you have Jax’s sample on file. Do you think that Nikolas could be there with me during the procedure?

Dr. Meadows: Yes, as soon as we get you prepped.

Courtney: Then let's go.

Nikolas: All right. I'll see you in a few minutes, okay? Bye. Hi.

Emily: How's Courtney?

Nikolas: A little nervous.

Emily: You've always had the gift of understatement.

Nikolas: Okay, she's a wreck.

Emily: Well, I can't blame her. You'll be wonderful to Courtney and the baby, no matter how the test turns out. But if Jax is the father, Nikolas, he's going to move heaven and earth to get custody.

Nikolas: Why do you care?

Emily: Custody fights are a nightmare, Nikolas. They leave everyone involved under enormous strain. And the agreement that's reached usually leaves everyone unhappy. I don't wish that on Courtney or Jax, and I certainly don't wish it on you.

Nikolas: Emily -- Emily, I'm asking why -- why, after all the pain that I've caused you, do you still want good things for me?

Emily: I always will.

Emily: I watched Sonny deal with Carly for weeks, okay? He fought for her. He tried to protect her even though their marriage was still over, so I know it's possible to let go and still love someone. Do you think we can manage that?

Dr. Meadows: Um -- Nikolas? We're ready for you.

Nikolas: Okay.

Emily: Okay. Go. I hope everything turns out the way you want.

Nikolas: Hey.

Monica: Well, that can't be easy for you.

Emily: I'm fine with Nikolas. I'm even okay with Courtney. Dad -- completely different story, mom.

Monica: Emily, try not to be too angry with your father.

Emily: He's trying to destroy my career. I get to be angry.

Monica: Yeah, well, he is afraid for you, Emily. He's just showing it in the worst possible way.

Emily: Yeah, so you're telling me to give in?

Monica: No, no. I'm just -- I'm just saying consider his motives are right. It's just his approach is dead wrong.

Emily: I worked hard to get into medical school. I work hard every day to keep up with my studies. I'm not going to let dad take that away from me.

Monica: Okay, then compromise. You could compromise. You could -- you could move out of Sonny's and see how Morgan and Michael do without you.

Emily: Mom, Michael --

Monica: And if it doesn't work, you could move back in and I will take care of Alan, okay?

Emily: Michael's your grandson, mom. He's had a nightmare of a year and to top it off, his mother's just been committed. How can you ask me to leave him? How can you want me to?

Monica: Emily, look, I respect the fact that you want to take care of Michael. That's just fine. But the danger with Sonny is very real, and Alan is terrified for you.

Emily: How can you make excuses for dad when you know what he's doing is wrong?

Monica: Because I'm terrified for you, too. Sonny is not a nice person. He has a wonderful gift for deceiving people, innocent people. I have seen him do it to Jason, to Robin Scorpio, and now I am watching him do it to you. He takes advantage of your compassion and he is trying to cut you off from your family so you can be a part of his. And, Emily, the more we fight, the more you defend him, and pretty soon we're the enemy, and the man that is ruining your life becomes the only friend you have. This is a pattern. I've seen it, Emily. You see it. Don't go on thinking you're doing the right thing and not see what's really going on.

Pager beeps

Monica: I'm sorry. I -- I've got to take this. Please, Emily, think about it?

Lucky: Hey, Em? Have you seen Elizabeth, because I was supposed to stop by?

Emily: Yeah. I think she's in the E.R. doing triage.

Lucky: Oh. So, how did it go with Sonny, you know? Did you tell him you were thinking about moving out?

Emily: If anyone says one more word to me about Sonny, I'm going to start screaming and never stop.

Lucky: Sonny who?

Emily: How's the wedding coming along?

Lucky: Oh, how would I know, because Elizabeth and her grandmother keep most of it top-secret.

Emily: Oh. So are you nervous about the big day?

Lucky: I just want it to be here, you know? Kind of like yesterday?

Emily: Yeah. I remember the feeling. It seems like a lifetime ago.

Lucky: Yeah.

Dr. Meadows: It's a relatively short procedure, Courtney. And I want you to let me know if you feel any discomfort.

Courtney: I will.

Nikolas: Okay. Hey, give me your hand. Focus on me, okay? Just imagine something.

Courtney: Like what?

Nikolas: Like -- like the day you get to bring your baby home.

Courtney: Hmm. I can picture that.

Nikolas: Yeah. You'll go to the window and you'll look up at the stars and you'll tell your son or your daughter -- oh, you'll say, "See how far and wide that sky goes? You see that? Well, that's how much mommy and daddy love you."

Courtney: What else should I tell the baby?

Nikolas: You'll say, "You see all those stars? Why don't you go ahead and reach for one. Go on, go ahead. And don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible. There is no impossible, because with love and faith and courage, you can make miracles happen just like mommy and daddy made you."

Nikolas: Here you go.

Courtney: Oh, thank you.

Nikolas: So how you doing?

Courtney: Just relieved that it's over.

Nikolas: Good.

Courtney: You know? Now all we have to do is wait for the test results.

Nikolas: Well, I promise I will keep you distracted as much as I can.

Courtney: You know, if Jax is the father, I -- I have no idea how he's going to react. I mean, I know that he'll want the baby, but he's probably going to feel betrayed that I didn't tell him sooner.

Nikolas: There's -- there's no point in, you know -- in worrying about something that hasn't happened yet.

Courtney: Oh, really? Okay, I want you to compose a sentence with these three words -- "pot, kettle, black."

Nikolas: What? Are you implying that I -- I always worry about things that I can't change, that I agonize over what might happen or already did happen? I mean, are you -- are you actually suggesting that I might have a tendency to brood? I mean, what are you saying to me right now?

Courtney: Oh, what, you, you? What, the most easygoing, irresponsible man I've ever met?

Nikolas: Listen, though, I'll make you a deal, okay? You don't worry, I don't worry. How's that?

Courtney: Okay. Deal.

Nikolas: Deal.

Courtney giggles

Nikolas: All right, now to seal this --

Courtney: Oh --

Nikolas: Little agreement between us, let's go get that sundae that I promised you, okay?

Courtney: Ooh, that sounds good.

Nikolas: Okay.

Jax: Hey. What are you doing on the pediatrics floor?

Courtney: Oh, I -- I had a consult for Mothers Without Means. Why are -- why are you here?

Jax: I'm looking into adoption -- oh, nothing, nothing definite yet. Just, you know, exploring my options.

Sonny: Just talk to whoever owes us money, whoever we do business with. I don't care what you have to do. Find Manny Ruiz.

Emily: What happened?

Sonny: Javier Ruiz’s brother, Manny, broke into the house. Nobody was hurt, but he made threats. That's why I think it's best for you to go.

Emily: Did my father call you?

Sonny: What does Alan have to do with it?

Emily: He's trying to blackmail me into moving back home. My father called the dean of students and told him that I lied to get an extension on an assignment. Unless I agree to move out of your guesthouse, he's going to have me expelled from medical school.

Sonny: Then you should go.

Emily: I'm not going to give in to blackmail.

Sonny: Forget Alan. I'm thinking about your safety. This guy broke into Sam’s house, watched her while she was taking a shower, so what I'm trying to say to you is I don't know what he's going to do next. I don't know who he's going to hit next.

Emily: Well, I'm not going to be safe anywhere, will I?

Sonny: Okay. I'm grateful for what you've done for me, especially what you've done for my children. But you are vulnerable, and I think it's best for you to leave.

Emily: No.

Courtney: How perfect is this? Ice cream sundae --

Nikolas: Mm-hmm.

Courtney: All these stars -- God.

Nikolas: Yeah. They're really bright tonight, huh?

Courtney: Mm-hmm.

Nikolas: See Orion right there.

Courtney: Yeah, right --

Nikolas: See it?

Courtney: Did you see that?

Nikolas: Yeah.

Courtney: A shooting star.

Nikolas: I know. Cool.

Courtney: What does that mean again?

Nikolas: It means that whatever wish you make will come true and also a little hope for the future.

Courtney: I'm going for hope.

Nikolas: I figured you would. Go ahead. Wow, must be some wish.

Courtney: Oh, it -- it is.

Nikolas: What?

Courtney: Ow.

Nikolas: You okay?

Courtney: Yeah -- ugh. It's a cramp. Oh, God, what if it's the baby?

Emily: I worked hard to get into medical school, I have no intention of leaving, and I also have no intention of walking away from Michael and Morgan. They need me.

Sonny: Emily, after everything that's happened to me, I don't -- you know, the last thing I need is for you to be hurt.

Emily: I'm on a guarded estate. Sonny, Jason’s after this Manny person and if he doesn't find him, the police will. I'm not afraid and I'm not leaving you.
