October 12, 2005 Screencaps

Emily: It feels odd being here, doesn't it, after the last time.

Nikolas: I'm just glad you're all right.

Emily: Yeah, it's great to be out of the hospital.

Nikolas: Emily, you called me to come here. You said it was urgent.

Emily: Yeah.

Nikolas: What is it that you wanted to tell me?

Emily: First, you have to swear not to tell anyone.

Nikolas: Okay, I swear.

Emily: Before too long, you're going to have a lot less free time on your hands.

Nikolas: Why would I have a lot less free time on my hands?

Emily: Logistics.

Nikolas: What?

Emily: I want us to throw Lucky and Elizabeth a fairy tale wedding.

Nikolas: Okay. "Us," like you and I "us"?

Emily: Yeah. No, Nikolas, I mean, I just thought that you might think that this is a little awkward, you know, because we're waiting for our own divorce papers to come through, but Lucky and Elizabeth are our best friends and they deserve more than a tiny ceremony in Audrey Hardy's living room.

Nikolas: Yeah. Yeah, okay, sounds like a good idea. Okay.

Emily: I thought you'd say that.

Nikolas: I mean, Lucky's already asked me to be his best man.

Emily: Oh, and I'm sure Elizabeth is going to ask me to be her matron of honor.

Nikolas: Sure, sure. Just know in advance that they'll try and use the wedding to get us back together. I mean, Lucky's already asked me not to bring Courtney, and I assured him that I wouldn't.

Emily: You might be changing your mind about that.

Nikolas: Why?

Emily: It won't be fair to leave Courtney out of the wedding.

Nikolas: Courtney understands the situation.

Emily: You can't just expect her to disappear.

Nikolas: Would you be okay if she showed up?

Emily: Don't worry about me.

Nikolas: Courtney understands that Lucky and Elizabeth and you and I have been friends for years. She'd never do anything to upset the wedding.

Emily: Okay, so I'll leave Courtney up to you. So how do we tell Lucky and Elizabeth that we're planning them the wedding of their dreams?

Nikolas: Well, we don't. You kidding me?

Emily: You want to surprise them?

Nikolas: Do we have a choice? You know that if Lucky even suspects that we're paying for his wedding, he'll marry Elizabeth in the alley behind Kelly's just out of pride.

Emily: Hmm.

Nikolas: You know Elizabeth, she'll be all right with it, but of course you know that she would rather have a formal wedding. You know that.

Emily: Of course she would.

Nikolas: Yeah. I think we need to spring the whole thing on them at the last minute.

Emily: Hmm. This is going to take some pretty serious planning on our part and a lot of sneaking around.

Nikolas: Kind of sounds like fun, huh?

Emily: Yeah, I think so.

Nikolas: Well, sooner than later, if you ask me. How about dinner at Kelly's? We can start making a list or something.

Emily: Yeah, I'm just going to run a couple of errands, and can I call you when I'm done?

Nikolas: Yeah, yeah, I'll be waiting.

Emily: Okay.

Knock on the door.

Alexis: Hey.

Jax: Hey. This a bad time?

Alexis: No, not at all. Come in. I can use your sense of style.

Jax: Oh, isn't it a strange time to go on vacation?

Alexis: Actually, I'm packing to go into labor.

Jax: Oh. Well, that's not the same thing, I would guess.

Alexis: Depends on the vacation. Which one do you pick?

Jax: Blue for a boy, pink for a girl, I guess. What's with the purple?

Alexis: I have no idea. And I don't care, and I don't think the baby's going to care, either.

Jax: Well, then go with -- go with the purple.

Alexis: I have just set a new record for insensitivity.

Jax: No, don't be silly. Look, I may have lost a baby, but doesn't mean I can't celebrate yours.

Alexis: You're a very good friend. You know that? You're also the best ex-husband that any woman could ever want.

Jax: Yes, speaking of -- I was expecting my divorce papers in the mail and --

Alexis: Right. Well, you know what happened is those papers got -- they disappeared under these diapers here for a couple days.

Jax: Really?

Alexis: Mm-hmm. And I can understand why you took Justus off this case and want me on it, because Justus isn't paying any attention at all because he's so busy trying to keep Sonny out of jail, but I can assure you that I am paying due diligence to this case and I can also assure you that these papers went right out that door.

Jax: Well, just I never got them.

Alexis: Well, maybe you lost them -- on purpose because maybe you don't really want out of the marriage?

Jax: No, Courtney and I, we're over, you know? It was a mistake. The sooner I move on, the better it is for me.

Alexis: Is that because you're still angry or because you're afraid you're going to change your mind?

Jax: No, it's --

Knock on door

Jax: You'd better -- you want to get that?

Alexis: You are so saved by the knock at the door.

Nikolas: Hello. Okay, so I got my divorce papers -- except they're for him.

Courtney: Hi.

Emily: Hi.

Courtney: Can I do something for you?

Emily: Can we go in?

Courtney: Okay. Have a seat. Can I get you anything?

Emily: I know you're pregnant.

Jax: Well, let me guess -- I'll be getting Nikolas and Emily's divorce papers any day now.

Alexis: Sorry.

Nikolas: What, did you switch the papers?

Alexis: I've had a lot on my mind.

Jax: Well, that's an odd sort of mistake, I mean, you know, especially for you.

Alexis: Hormones?

Nikolas: What, did you switch them because you wanted to, oh, give me extra time to reconsider my divorce?

Alexis: You know what? I am supposed to be on a sabbatical. I am supposed to be preparing to give birth, which, trust me, is no day at the beach, and the only reason I agreed to handle this case -- your both cases, respectively -- in the first place is because you are my beloved nephew and you are my trusted friend and both of you told me that your divorces were mutually agreed upon and amicable.

Nikolas: They are.

Jax: Yeah.

Alexis: Well, there you go. See, there must be something in the water because I, too, am going through a separation, although my husband is too busy risking his life, his principles, and his law practice to sign the damn thing. So I am vacillating somewhere between fearing for his life and wanting to take it myself, so I'm just a little distracted.

Nikolas: You love Ric. You know that.

Alexis: So what? What does that matter? Why should love make any sense, and why should the two of you ever think that it could hurt? You love Courtney. I know you do. She loves you. You wanted to have a family together. I am sorry the surrogacy thing didn't work. You both made mistakes. Hers, I agree, is a little worse, but it takes two to tango. You, you -- you love Emily and she loves you and the two of you have survived everything. You've survived Helena, you have survived cancer, you have survived Connor Bishop, and yet the two of you are tripping all over each other to get to the divorce court!

Nikolas: It's a little more complicated than that.

Alexis: Of course it is! You're a Cassadine! Nothing's ever easy for us. But if you two want to go get your divorces, go ahead. What do I know? I'm just an overworked attorney who is having a baby and my husband is a pain in the ass.

Nikolas: Okay. Alexis, is there anything I can do to help you?

Alexis: Yes. You can both take the opportunity to appreciate the ones that you love, because we all don't get to do that. And if you can't manage to do that, if you both can't manage to fight for your marriages because you're a couple of wimps, then bring it on because I will take your case, I can use the billable hours. Now, in the meantime, I'm busy, I'm tired, I'm hormonal. Get out. Out!

Jax: Okay.

Alexis: Now! Move it, move it! Let's go!

Jax: Listen, Alexis --

Alexis: Out!

Courtney: Sonny told you that I'm pregnant? He knows that I'm not ready for anyone to know, but he told you anyway? That's just great.

Emily: No, Sonny didn't tell me. I overheard.

Courtney: Oh, god.

Emily: I came back to get my cell and you and Sonny were talking in the living room. Sonny saw me, you didn't.

Courtney: Why wouldn't one of you say something?

Emily: I needed a little time to process this, Courtney! Yeah, Nikolas and I are getting a divorce, but it's still a shock to hear that you could be pregnant with his child!

Courtney: Jax may be the father, okay? That's why I am not telling anyone until I know for sure.

Emily: Nikolas has a right to know that you could be carrying his child.

Courtney: Look, I don't want to fight with you, Emily, but I don't see how any of this is your business.

Emily: It is my business because I know, and I'm not going to be pressured into keeping a secret. If you won't tell Nikolas you're pregnant, I will.

Courtney: I was confiding in my brother. You eavesdropped on a private conversation. Now you're blackmailing me! What --

Emily: I don't want anything from you, Courtney. I happen to think that Nikolas deserves the truth.

Courtney: Oh, and you deserve the payback, right? My baby is none of your business.

Emily: I disagree.

Courtney: Look, you have no idea what it is like to lose a baby, to blame yourself, to believe that you will never have another one, and then all of a sudden -- okay, look, this baby is a miracle and I get to decide what is best for it.

Emily: You aren't the only person involved here.

Courtney: Look, I will tell the father when I am ready.

Emily: If you had told Jason that you were still pregnant --

Courtney: You have no right to tell Nikolas, Emily!

Emily: Nikolas is still my husband, at least on paper, like it or not, Courtney, and I'll tell him any damn thing I want!

Courtney: Oh, yeah, well, if he is the father, it's the perfect excuse for you to push him away.

Emily: We aren't going to discuss my relationship with Nikolas, but I'll tell you this much -- I lost him by keeping secrets and I'm not going to do it again. And if you have half a brain in your head, you won't either.

Courtney: Will you please just wait until I know for sure? Look, I am getting a paternity test. Everyone will know in a few weeks.

Emily: If I give you that long.

Nikolas: So what about Central Park?

Emily: How would we ever get Lucky and Elizabeth there?

Nikolas: I don't know. We'll have to dream up some excuse, I guess.

Emily: Yeah, but it would be really complicated for all the guests, huh?

Nikolas: Yeah, good point.

Emily: I have to decide how to deal with the dress, too. We might have to let Audrey in on the plans.

Nikolas: Is that a problem?

Emily: No, but the timing will be. We have less than a month.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, we'll just have to be fast, efficient, and extremely sneaky. Fortunately for us, our families excel in that area.

Emily: Hmm. So first question -- were we really serious about that horse-drawn carriage?
