November 8, 2005 Screencaps

Ric: Emily, there's no way you can do a C-section on my wife in the middle of a train wreck.

Emily: That's not what I'm suggesting.

Alexis: There isn't going to be a C-section. There isn’t. I am having this baby naturally. Childbirth is a natural thing, and this baby's coming out naturally.

Ric: That's right, that's right, and I will be right here with you. I'm not going anywhere.

Alexis: You don't have much of a choice.

Ric: Well, neither do you, ok?

Alexis: Well, maybe that's what this baby wants. Oh!

Ric: All right, easy, easy.

Alexis: God!

Nikolas: How you doing?

Courtney: I'm just sitting here wishing there was something I could do to help. Hey, why don't we go check on Lucky?

Nikolas: All right, come on.

Courtney: Oh, man.

Alexis groans.

Ric: Is it my imagination or are the contractions coming closer together?

Emily: Alexis, I need you to stay calm. Just take slow, steady breaths.

Alexis: Really, Emily? You want me to stay calm? Well, I wouldn't want to disappoint you.

Ric: Alexis, come on, you need to breathe and focus.

Alexis: Oh, stop patronizing me!

Ric: I'm not patronizing you!

Alexis: Yes, you are! I can breathe and suffer at the same time! I multitask.

Ric: All right, mother, then you just listen, okay? I have something to say. I am sorry --

Alexis: Do we have to do this now?

Ric: Yes. Can you think of a better time? Look, we haven't had more than 10 minutes together at once. Now we don't have a choice, so let's just take the opportunity to get our emotional junk out of the way, or at least put it in check for a while so we don't dump it on this child that we're about to bring into the world.

Alexis: "We"?

Ric: Yes, we. I understand your part is light-years more difficult than mine, and that's why I wanted to say to you I am sorry. I'm sorry for hurting you. So can we please just put all that in the past so that we can give this child the best of both of us?

Emily: All right, I may have found what we need to slow things down.

Emily: It's primarily an asthma medicine. It works as a smooth muscle relaxant. It should slow the contractions down and buy Alexis and the baby the time they need.

Ric: Okay, is there any downside to this?

Alexis: Emily, I know you're doing everything you can, but won't this hurt the baby?

Emily: I understand your hesitation.

Ric: All right, am I missing something here? What happens if the contractions don't stop?

Emily: Alexis and the baby could both be in jeopardy.

Ric: Oh, great. Okay, so, Emily, what do you think we should do?

Emily: Ric, I'm a med student. I've learned some things, I can give you some options, but the decision has to be made by the baby's parents.

Crash..

Courtney: Jeez. Look, I want to go with you.

Nikolas: No, no, no, I can't let you risk it, okay? We have no choice but to get Lucky out of here, but you're safer down here with everybody else.

Courtney: I can help, Nikolas.

Nikolas: Courtney, Courtney --

Courtney: I can help! What?

Nikolas: Courtney, listen to me, you already took a bad fall, okay? I don't want to take any more chances. I couldn't live with myself if -- if anything happened to your baby, okay, please.

Ric: Nikolas, what's going on?

Nikolas: Lucky's in bad shape. We need to get him out of here right now.

Emily: Are you going right away?

Nikolas: Look, if we can find a way out, we'll send help for Alexis. How far apart are the contractions right now?

Emily: Too close, but we're working on a solution to slow them down.

Nikolas: Okay. We're going to get you out of here.

Alexis: I'm better off staying here. You be careful, okay?

Nikolas: Okay. Okay. Just take care of that new little cousin of mine, okay?

Alexis: I will.

Emily: Be careful, okay?

Nikolas: Okay. Come here. You're going to make a great doctor someday, you know that?

Emily: Thank you.

Nikolas: Okay. Hey.

Courtney: Hey.

Nikolas: You okay?

Courtney: Look, I know -- I know that you have to go. And you're going to save Lucky, I know it.

Nikolas: All right, baby, I'll see you on the other side, okay? Okay.

Courtney: You'd better.

Nikolas: Okay.

Luke: Oh, what the hell.

Nikolas: Damn it.

Luke: Here, put him down.

Elizabeth: Oh, God. Okay, there has to be another way out.

Luke: No, this was it.

Nikolas: There was another tunnel a few hundred yards back.

Luke: Yeah, and there were two tunnels before that and they were all blocked up.

Nikolas: How could you tell? It was so dark.

Luke: It was dark, yes! You want to go back and check yourself?

Elizabeth: What are we going to do now?

Lucky: Dad, stop! Stop! Come here.

Luke: What? What do you need? What do you need?

Lucky: Remember what you taught me? The weakest link?

Luke: Yeah. Yeah. The weakest spot of this is going to be right there. Come on, Nikolas, let's get this beam off here.

Lucky: How you doing?

Elizabeth: I'm good. I'm good as long as you're okay.

Lucky: You love me?

Elizabeth: You know I do.

Lucky: It's going to carry me a long way.

Elizabeth: Put your head down.

Voices.

Luke: Hey, listen. Listen.

Nikolas: Someone there?

Luke and Nikolas: Help! Help!

Elizabeth: Someone's over there.

Luke and Nikolas: Help!

Elizabeth: Please help us!

Nikolas: Help! We're in here!

Luke and Nikolas: Help! Help!

Lorenzo: I hear it, too.

Luke and Nikolas: Help!

Lorenzo: Right there.

Jax: Let's push this one through.

Lorenzo: Ready? On three. One, two, three.

Luke: I never thought I'd be happy to see your face.

Elizabeth: Thank God.

Luke: We're just about ready to have this clear enough to get him through. You keep digging from that side!

Elizabeth: You hear that, baby? We're almost there. Lucky? Lucky?

Ric: Okay? All right?

Alexis: All right, tell me again what my options are.

Emily: In ideal circumstances in a hospital, we'd do a C-section because of the baby's large size.

Ric: Okay, it's not an option.

Emily: If the contractions continue to escalate, the baby is going to move into the birth canal before you're ready and dilated. That could result in the baby suffocating and complications that are life-threatening to you, as well.

Ric: Okay, so the best chance is to slow the contractions. That's what the medicine is supposed to do.

Emily: Might do.

Alexis: It's coming.

Ric: Okay, all right, Alexis, all right, squeeze. Please, squeeze the life out of me; squeeze the life out of me. Okay, okay, okay. Breathe.

Alexis: I don't want to lose the baby!

Ric: Okay.

Alexis: Oh!

Ric: All right, I know. I know. All right?

Alexis: Okay. Give me the pills.

Luke: How you doing on your side?

Jax: Should be enough.

Nikolas: We got to move fast. This thing's anything but stable.

Lorenzo: All right. All right. This thing won't hold for long. Bring him through!

Elizabeth: He's still unconscious and his breathing is shallow.

Nikolas: All right, let's move him.

Luke: We're almost there. All right!

Jax: Come on.

Nikolas: All right, we're going to push him through. You got to pull him on your end.

Jax: Come on, hurry up!

Lorenzo: Keep coming! There's triage units right outside the tunnel! Just, just keep coming, keep coming.

Luke: All right, coming.

Jax: Come on, Luke, keep pushing from your end!

Luke: Come on, get up.

Jax: Come on.

Luke: Coming through! You two stay close behind.

Elizabeth: Lucky's going to be okay.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Elizabeth: He's going to be okay, right, he'll be okay?

Nikolas: You go first. I'll be right behind.

Rumbling.

Jax: Luke, hurry up! It's starting to collapse! Put him down.

Luke: Get back!

Nikolas: Get back, get back!

Elizabeth: No! No! No, Lucky! Lucky! Lucky!

Jax: Luke! Luke, can you hear me? Luke! Come on, let's get you out of here. You're okay. Are you okay?

Luke: Yeah!

Jax: Come on!

Luke: I'm dandy.

Jax: Come on.

Luke: We got to get him out of here.

Luke coughs.

Lorenzo: All right. You all right?

Luke: Yeah.

Lorenzo: You guys go ahead. I'll keep digging.

Luke: Nobody's coming through there, Lorenzo. That hole is sealed up tight. You'd better come up with a different plan.

Jax: Come on.

Ric: Okay, okay, girls -- best and worst baby names. Abigail? Right?

Alexis: Abigail, Abby. That's pretty.

Ric: Abby, okay. How about --

Alexis: Worst name. One's coming, it's coming.

Ric: Okay, all right, okay, okay.

Emily: Breathe deep, deep breaths.

Ric: How's that? How's that? How was it?

Alexis: This one's not so bad.

Emily: Okay. All right, good, good.

Alexis: I don't know if it's you or the pills, but I'm grateful. I don't want to have this baby in a hole in the ground. I want to have it in a clean, bright hospital room with you there telling me what a good job I'm doing.

Ric: All right, listen, if -- if you don't mean that, I'd appreciate if you wouldn't say it.

Alexis: I mean it. I've always wanted you there when the baby was born.

Courtney: Hey, um, you know, there's some more bottled water on the train. I'm going to go get it.

Emily: Courtney, let me.

Courtney: You know, I can't really sit around and do nothing. It's not how I'm made.

Emily: Nikolas is worried about you. He's worried about the baby.

Courtney: You know, you did a really good job, you know, giving Alexis that medication. It's working.

Emily: I just -- I don't know how long until it wears off. It's just temporary. Alexis and the baby are nowhere near out of the woods yet.

Nikolas: Way back's blocked, too.

Elizabeth: Just tell me Lucky made it through, right?

Nikolas: Come here, stop it, stop it.

Elizabeth: He made it through okay?

Nikolas: Liz, stop, stop, stop. Come here. Come here.

Elizabeth: What?

Nikolas: Listen to me.

Elizabeth: What?

Nikolas: By now, Lucky's been seen by a doctor, he's on the way to the hospital, okay, and someone else -- listen, someone else is coming down here to get us, okay?

Elizabeth: Yeah. Yeah, okay, and then we get out of here and it'll all be over. I can go get Lucky and he's -- he'll be better and we can just go home and sit on the couch and one of us will order dinner because we're just too lazy to cook, you know?

Nikolas: It's okay.

Elizabeth: And then we'll take care of our son and remember how precious -- how precious every single moment is, every mundane moment of spilled milk and -- and cold beer and -- and the love and the fighting to see who gets to the bathroom first.

Nikolas: It's okay.

Elizabeth: We'll just be a dull, married couple, and this will be --

Nikolas: Hey, you're all right.

Elizabeth: It'll be just a distant memory.

Nikolas: It'll be all right, okay?

Elizabeth coughs.

Elizabeth: I just got to keep -- I got to keep digging, you know, okay?

Nikolas: Yeah, it's hard to breathe.

Elizabeth: Nikolas?

Lainey: Lucky's on the next helicopter out.

Luke: What are his chances?

Lainey: I'm not going to lie, it's bad. Another hour, it would've been too late. It's a safe bet you saved your son's life.

Lulu: I want to go with Lucky.

Lainey: Sorry, sweetie, I don't think that's a good idea.

Lulu: My name is not "sweetie," it's Lulu, and this is my brother.

Lainey: Sorry, I still don't think it's a good idea. Excuse me.

Skye: Where's Elizabeth?

Luke: She's still stuck in the central tunnel, all of them are. Nikolas and I were moving Lucky through, Elizabeth was with us. Alcazar and Jax were digging from the other side when the whole thing caved in. They're all stuck inside.

Lulu: Why don't you just admit the truth? You saved Lucky and left Nikolas in there to die!

Nikolas: Elizabeth? Elizabeth, can you hear me? Can you hear me? Okay, there's a gas leak somewhere. We need to find some fresh air. Come on. Come on.

Nikolas coughs..

Ric: Eight, nine -- go ahead, lean back -- 10, Alexis, 11, 12 --

Alexis: 13.

Ric: 13, good, 14, 15 --

Emily: You're fully dilated.

Ric: Oh, good. That's good, right? That's what we want, natural birth, right? Right?

Alexis: It's sure better than the alternative.

Ric: Yeah. Just sit here for a minute, okay? Courtney, stay with her.

Courtney: Yeah. Hey.

Alexis: Word of caution -- when you realize that your due date is approaching, avoid mass transit.

Courtney: Yeah, I'll keep that in mind.

Alexis: It's all worth it when your baby's born.

Courtney: Yeah, I can't wait.

Alexis: Jax is a good man. Give him a chance to be a good father.

Ric: Emily? You'd tell me if something was -- was wrong, wouldn't you?

Emily: The baby's big, Ric. It's very big. If we were in a hospital, we'd still do a C-section.

Ric: Okay, well, we're not in a hospital, so what do you suggest?

Emily: The baby is stuck high in the pelvis, all right? They're both at risk.

Ric: At risk? Okay.

Emily: If there are any complications, Alexis and the baby could both die.

Ric: All right, fine, then -- then we're going to have to try a C-section here.

Emily: Oh -- Ric --

Ric: Well, what do you --?

Emily: It's impossible to do a procedure like this here. We need a doctor.
