Nikolas: Are you all right? How do you feel?
Courtney: Okay, I guess. Where are we?
Nikolas: Lorenzo Alcazar's stables.
Courtney: Oh.
Nikolas: I was driving home from the party and saw a car in the ditch on the side of the road and got out to see if anyone was hurt and saw you slumped over your steering wheel.
Courtney: Oh. Well, thanks for coming to my rescue.
Nikolas: This barn was the -- it's okay -- was the nearest shelter, so I carried you in here.
Courtney: Oh, gosh.
Nikolas: There you go.
Courtney: I was -- I was on my way to the party and I lost control of my car.
Nikolas: Well, Jax said that you were in Manhattan doing some work for your foundation.
Courtney: Yeah, I was. I just -- I finished early, so I decided to come and surprise Jax.
Nikolas: Well, I'm sure he'll be glad to see you.
Courtney: What, you're alone? Why -- why aren't you with Emily?
Nikolas: Uh, she's staying at the party.
Courtney: Oh. I don't mean to pry, but I hope everything's okay.
Nikolas: Well, there's just a lot of people at the party who really didn't get along. And if the beginning wasn't bad enough, we get stranded by the storm.
Courtney: What? A few arguments broke out?
Nikolas: Well, let's just say that the inmates are running the asylum right now.
Courtney: With Carly and Reese leading the pack?
Nikolas: Yeah. You get the picture.
Courtney: Yeah.
Nikolas: Thank you. I'm worried about Alexis, though. She was with Ric, and their car hit a tree.
Courtney: Oh, my God. Is she okay?
Nikolas: Yeah, her -- her and the baby seem to be holding their own, but -- I don't know -- there might be some complications. We were able to get ahold of Dr. Meadows and -- ahem -- and she told Alexis to keep her feet and hips elevated. Yeah, she'll be taken to the hospital by medevac as soon as the storm lets up.
Courtney: Oh, well, what about Jax? I mean, he must be worried sick about Alexis.
Nikolas: Yeah, he is.
Courtney: What?
Nikolas: Lucky and Jax got into a fight.
Courtney: Let me guess. About the surrogacy.
Nikolas: Yeah. Lucky's starting to regret it.
Courtney: Yeah, well, he's not the only one.
Elizabeth: Hmm. This ring is so beautiful.
Lucky: Yeah. The diamond's a little small.
Elizabeth: No, Lucky, it's perfect. I mean, you know my taste so well.
Lucky: Well, I ought to after all these years.
Jax: Hey. We just checked on Alexis.
Elizabeth: Well, how is she?
Jax: Yeah, the doctor's advice seems to be working.
Elizabeth: Oh, thank God.
Emily: Well, it looks like you two are doing better.
Elizabeth: Oh, we just needed to work things out.
Lucky: Yeah, have you noticed anything different?
Jax: Courtney!
Emily: What happened?
Courtney: Hi.
Nikolas: Her car went off the road into a ditch.
Courtney: I was on my way to the party to surprise you, and I --
Jax: Are you okay?
Courtney: Yeah. Yeah, thanks to Nikolas.
Nikolas: She was unconscious at the wheel when I found her, so I carried her into the stables.
Jax: Thank you, Nikolas. We'll get you to the hospital as soon as the storm is over.
Courtney: No, I'm fine, really.
Jax: Yeah, I'm sure you are, but I want to get a doctor to check you out.
Courtney: Honest, Jax, I'm fine.
Jax: Humor me. I'm a newlywed.
Lucky: Speaking of newlyweds, we're glad you're all here. Elizabeth and I have an announcement to make.
Elizabeth: Ta-da! Lucky and I are getting married.
Emily: Oh!
Nikolas: Congratulations.
Elizabeth: Thank you.
Emily: Elizabeth, I'm so happy for you.
Elizabeth: Thanks.
Courtney: Did you have any idea Lucky was going to propose tonight?
Elizabeth: No, he popped it out of the blue.
Emily: Here, let me see, let me see.
Emily: So everyone grab your glasses so I can propose a toast.
Elizabeth: Don't worry. It's sparking cider.
Emily: To Lucky and Elizabeth, my two best friends. You were always meant to be together, and I know you'll have a blissful marriage. So here's to first and forever love.
Nikolas: Hear, hear. To Lucky and Elizabeth, all I can say is, it's about time.
Lucky: Don't get too sentimental on us.
Courtney: So, when's the wedding?
Elizabeth: Oh, we haven't picked a date yet.
Lucky: Yeah, give us a little while. We've only been engaged for two minutes.
Courtney: Well, late summer and early fall are the best seasons to get married.
Jax: Why don't we give them a little time to get used to their engagement first?
Lucky: You know what? I agree, Courtney. Late summer, early fall sounds good.
Elizabeth: Well, do I get a say here or --
Lucky: Well, we don't have any reason to wait.
Elizabeth: No, but can we plan a wedding that soon?
Lucky: Well, we don't want anything too big, now, do we?
Nikolas: Let me top these off for you. Yeah.
Lucky: Yeah.
Nikolas: Okay.
Nikolas: Here you go.
Elizabeth: So, we should just have our family and closest friends there, don't you think?
Lucky: Yeah, I agree. Just the people we care about.
Elizabeth: Good. And I'd like to have a minister perform the ceremony.
Emily: And you could have it at the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where you and Lucky said your vows during the blizzard.
Elizabeth: That's right, that's a good idea.
Emily: And we could have the reception at Wyndemere.
Elizabeth: Oh, thanks for offering, you guys. God, there is so much to talk about. Come on, let's go talk about the wedding.
Emily: Okay.
Nikolas: So, when did you decide to propose?
Lucky: Ever since Elizabeth moved in. You know, it was just a matter of choosing the right time.
Nikolas: And this was it? Carly and Alcazar's party?
Lucky: What are you getting at, Nikolas?
Nikolas: No, I -- you know, I'm just wondering if it had anything to do with sending Jax a clear message that Elizabeth belongs to you.
Lucky: Do you think I'd honestly make some lifetime decision based on a macho knee-jerk reaction?
Nikolas: You said yourself -- I mean, when you punched him --
Lucky: No, I said that it's weird that Elizabeth is having another man's baby. And most guys in my position would feel the same way.
Nikolas: No question about it.
Lucky: Listen, I love Elizabeth, and I want to marry her. So just do me a favor. Be on my side, okay?
Jax: Have any of you seen where Courtney went?
Elizabeth: No.
Emily: Sorry, no.
Lucky: Hey, I'm going to go to the kitchen and beg, borrow, or steal a cup of coffee. Anybody want anything?
Nikolas: Yeah, sure, I'll take one.
Elizabeth: I'll have a cup of tea.
Lucky: Okay.
Elizabeth: Thanks, honey.
Nikolas: Listen, I know -- I know that everyone's been giving you advice about the wedding, but the decision's yours. Don't feel like you have to rush anything.
Emily: What does that mean?
Nikolas: Nothing, just that, you know, they have a lot going on in their lives right now, and she and Lucky should be able to enjoy their engagement, that's all.
Elizabeth chuckles.
Emily: Does this sudden caution about marriage have to do with Elizabeth and Lucky or you and me?
Nikolas: You know, I don't think this is the time or place to discuss our problems.
Emily: Nikolas, we have nothing but time. And since we're marooned here indefinitely, why don't we just find a private spot to continue this discussion?
Nikolas: Fine. Sorry if we made you uncomfortable.
Elizabeth: No, I -- I just hope you work it out.
Emily: Do you have to broadcast the fact that we're having problems, Nikolas?
Nikolas: They're our friends, Emily. They already know.
Emily: Yeah, well, and if they didn't, you certainly made it clear when you walked out and you tried to drive home in the middle of a hurricane.
Nikolas: Wait, you --you walked out. What did you expect me to do?
Emily: Come after me, talk to me, make an effort, Nikolas! Anything!
Nikolas: I have been making an effort for months, Emily, and nothing has changed.
Emily: Okay, so you just gave up and left? Is that your answer?
Nikolas: I'm not -- no. I'm not giving up.
Emily: No, you're just airing our problems in front of Elizabeth and Lucky. You're using their engagement as an excuse to complain about the state of our marriage, Nikolas. You're not -- you can't even be happy for them for --
Nikolas: You're right. I'm not happy unless you're happy, and you're not. You're faking it.
Emily: Nikolas, you keep saying that, but you don't know what I'm feeling.
Nikolas: Oh, yes, I do know. I do know. You're still hurting from being raped. Why can't you respect me enough to admit that?
Emily: I'm not haunted by the rape anymore, Nikolas. It doesn't bother me when you touch me.
Nikolas: What? What am I supposed to say to that? It's all right that you're not attracted to me?
Emily: Nikolas, I am.
Nikolas: I asked you to be honest with me, Emily.
Emily: I love you. Nikolas, I still think that you're the handsomest man that I have ever seen.
Nikolas: Then why do I feel like we're miles apart?
Emily: When we try to talk, we fight. And I hate fighting with you, Nikolas. I hate knowing that I'm hurting you, so I try to avoid conflict, and I end up avoiding you. And then you're angry at me for pulling away.
Nikolas: I -- I never said that.
Emily: And I'm angry at you for not understanding. And neither of us has a clue how to bridge the gap. All I know is that standing in a barn in the middle of a hurricane isn't going to fix anything.
Nikolas: Emily. Emily.
Courtney: Ooh.
Nikolas: What are --
Courtney: I'm so sorry.
Nikolas: Perfect.
Courtney: I am so sorry, Nikolas. I mean, I really -- I just -- I came into the barn to just collect my thoughts. And then you and Emily walked in. I immediately just ducked out of sight. I didn't -- I didn't think you guys were going to stay long. I just --
Nikolas: Did you hear the entire argument?
Courtney: Oh, God, I should have told you I was here.
Nikolas: It's all right.
Courtney: I'm sorry.
Nikolas: It's all right. I'm not angry with you. I'm angry at myself. You know, I love my wife so much, but I just -- I can't reach her anymore.
Courtney: Emily was raped? My God, that explains a lot.
Nikolas: And I want to help her, Courtney. But when I can't, I feel like -- like I'm somehow to blame, you know?
Courtney: Yeah, I get the feeling that Emily shares your frustration.
Nikolas: It just -- it used to be so effortless for us. Now, whatever I do, it just pushes her further and further apart. And when she pretends to be happy, I mean, it just infuriates me. I know you probably think I'm a jerk for saying that, but --
Courtney: No, no, not at all. The truth is, I -- I understand how you feel.
