Nikolas: We love each other. No matter what happens in-between. I'll be waiting for you when you're ready to come back to this marriage.
Emily: I don't know what to say.
Nikolas: You said that you believe that I didn't sleep with Courtney, right? Well, that means that you're starting to trust me, even if it's just a little bit. We can build on that.
Emily: I hope so.
Nikolas: So I'll help you, okay? If you need my help, I'll be there. If you need me to stay away, I can do that, too. Either way, there's no pressure. I love you. I'll wait for you.
Emily: I love you, too, Nikolas, and I always will. I have to go.
Nikolas: Okay. You know where to find me. Oh, God. Did you hear all that?
Courtney: I couldn't be happier for you.
Courtney: Anyone would know where your heart lies if they heard what you just told Emily. Whatever spark we had, it was just that, Nikolas. It could never compare to the torch you carry for Emily.
Nikolas: That sounds good, but do you really believe it?
Courtney: Look, you only noticed me because you hit a rough spot in your marriage, and that's okay. It is, it's okay. I mean, we just kept getting thrown together, and it was crazy and fun, but it doesn't mean anything. You know, it -- we just said that it was fate because that's what we wanted to hear.
Nikolas: Maybe you're right.
Courtney: Look, our little encounter helped you see what you and Emily were about to throw away, and that's good. It is, it is. I mean, it means that maybe we weren't so wrong. Emily loves you. She does. I mean, you're finally getting through to her. It's what you've both been praying for.
Nikolas: And what about you?
Courtney: Look, whatever we had -- or almost had -- it doesn't compare to what you and Emily have. She's your wife, okay, and I'm okay with that. I -- I just need --
Nikolas: Then why are you so upset, then?
Courtney: Because -- because if you and Emily still have a chance, it just -- it means that maybe Jax and I do, too. Look, I'm -- everything's going to turn out okay. I'm happy for you.
Nikolas: Wait, wait. Come here. I can't let you leave like that.
Nikolas: You're not being honest with me.
Courtney: What do you want me to say, Nikolas? What, that I'm upset you and Emily are finding your way back? I mean, yeah, under different circumstances, if we had met as strangers, if no one got hurt, then maybe I could -- no, I'd never say anything like that. I just --
Nikolas: That doesn't mean you don't feel it.
Courtney: Look, you're all about Emily, you always have been. You were frustrated when she kept you at arm's length. You got lonely when she couldn't return the love that you gave her. You needed a friend, and so did I. But now you're ready to find your way back. You still have a chance with the love of your life.
Nikolas: What about us?
Courtney: There is no "us," okay? We're just a mistake that never even really happened.
Nikolas: See, I don't think we were a mistake.
Courtney: Oh God, no, jeez -- just be happy, okay, that we put the brakes on when we did. Just be thrilled that Emily wants you back. Just try and focus on her and on your future.
Nikolas: We can't do this.
Courtney: How can we do this at all?
Nikolas: I don't know what's happening between us right now, but something tells me it's not going to go away.
Elizabeth: So Jax said that he's going to do everything he can to patch things up with Courtney, and I'm sure they're going to work things out, and then I can happily hand over this baby just as we planned.
Emily: That's wonderful.
Elizabeth: Yeah. So I guess getting everybody together tonight wasn't such a mistake after all.
Emily: Maybe not.
Elizabeth: Maybe not what?
Emily: Just maybe not.
Elizabeth: Oh, no, there's something more.
Emily: How can you tell?
Elizabeth: Oh, because I've known you forever. Tell me.
Emily: I don't want to jinx it, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth: Emily, I'm your best friend. You're going to jinx it if you don't tell me.
Emily: Nikolas and I may have a chance, too.
Elizabeth: Well, what happened? I mean, what changed?
Emily: I don't know, Elizabeth. Maybe it was getting together in your apartment or finally believing that he and Courtney never slept together. I don't know, Elizabeth, but tonight somehow I looked into his eyes and I really saw him, the man I've loved since I was a teenager. He's been there all along, and he loves me. I can feel it now. And we have a long way to go, at least I do, but something's changed in my heart.
Elizabeth: That's the best news I've heard in a really long time.
Emily: I want my marriage back.
Elizabeth: Well, what are you doing here? Why aren't you with Nikolas?
Phone rings.
Courtney's Voice: Sorry I missed you. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks.
Answering machine beeps.
Nikolas: Courtney, it's me. If you're there, pick up. You there? I need to see you. Look, you were upset on the pier, and you wanted to say something else. And what you -- what you heard between me and Emily, I could tell that it hurt you, and that's the last thing that I want, okay? I know that I should go back to Emily and put you out of my mind. I mean, that would be, you know, the right thing, the honorable thing to do. It's just that all I can see are those tears in your eyes, and -- I don't care how late it is, okay? I can't do this on the phone. I really need to see you. God.
