Doctor: Get out of the way. Check the pulse.
Nikolas: We heard the Code Blue. What happened?
Lucky: She was doing ok, and then she stopped breathing.
Doctor: She's in V-Tach. We're going to have to shock her.
Monitor beeps.
Doctor: Charging. All clear.
Nurse: Clear.
Doctor: Up it to 300 joules. Charging. All clear.
Nurse: Clear!
Monitor flatlines.
Doctor: Time of death, 18:43.
Nikolas sighs.
Nikolas: A woman just died reaching out to me. And I should feel something, but I don't -- not even anger.
Emily: Yeah, anger, I can do. Mary just killed two people, and then she came after me.
Nikolas: Come here. I couldn't let that happen again.
Emily: Mary was crazy.
Nikolas: Yeah, maybe I am, too. I grabbed a cop's gun and -- and shot her. Is that a -- is that a rational thing to do?
Emily: You couldn't just let her walk away.
Nikolas: And still, I should feel something, shouldn't I? I mean, she probably saved my life.
Emily: She lied to you about who you were.
Nikolas: She'd be all right if Connor hadn't died in the war.
Emily sighs.
Emily: That doesn't justify what she did.
Nikolas: No, I know. I'm not -- and I’m not defending her. I'm just saying if I -- if I’d have listened to Mac and let her go, or taken her hand just now, maybe she would be alive. I don't know.
Emily: Nikolas, please, don't put yourself through this.
Nikolas: No, I just -- Emily, I -- I shot a woman, and she died reaching out to me, and I just stood there. What kind of a man just stands there? Come here. Well, maybe it's because I’m a Cassadine. Some sort of -- I don't know -- disconnect thing. I mean, my uncle was that way and so was Alexis. Maybe on some level, I feel -- I feel like I can do anything; like the rules and laws of common decency don't apply to me somehow.
Emily: You aren't like the rest of the Cassadines.
Nikolas: I'm just glad that she can't hurt you or anyone else again.
Emily: Oh. We can get on with our lives now, huh?
Nikolas: Yeah.
Emily: It's over.
Nikolas: Yeah.
Lucky: No, it isn't.
Lucky sighs.
Lucky: It's just getting started. Forget attempted manslaughter. Lansing can charge you with murder.
Emily: What? Because he stopped a woman who had already killed two people? A woman who -- who tried to kill me?
Lucky: No, all bets are off now that Mary’s dead.
Emily: Why would Ric up the charges against Nikolas from manslaughter to murder?
Nikolas: Because I threatened to kill Mary 20 minutes before I grabbed Mac’s gun, I shot a woman who was not an immediate threat, and Mac saw no reason to use deadly force. There you go.
Lucky: That means Nikolas is in serious trouble.
Nikolas: What's next?
Lucky: Your bail -- probably be revoked.
Nikolas: So I go back into lockup?
Lucky: Hmm, looks that way.
Nikolas: That's great.
Lucky: And politically, Lansing will need to charge you as high as he can.
Emily: No, Lucky, you can't let that happen --
Nikolas: No, Emily --
Emily: No, Nikolas --
Nikolas: Listen. I know; I understand. The Cassadines have a long history of getting away with murder in this town. If Ric can make an example out of me, it'd make his career.
Lucky: That's right.
Emily: Nikolas wasn't -- he didn't plan to kill anyone. He was trying to save me, Lucky.
Lucky: I know, I know, but the law doesn't see it that way.
Nikolas: Do you have to arrest me right now?
Lucky: I'll put a rush on the autopsy and start the paperwork. That'll give you guys more time together.
Nikolas: Thanks.
Emily: Thank you, Lucky. I appreciate it.
Lucky: It won't be long.
Emily: Okay. Whew. Lucky's helping you escape, just like before, okay? Come on, we have to get out of here.
Nikolas: I won't run away from this.
Emily: And Lucky is giving you a chance. He's stalling with the autopsy and the paperwork.
Nikolas: If I do, he'll lose his job and his career, right?
Emily: If you don't, you could spend the rest of your life in jail, Nikolas. Lucky is giving you a chance. Take it.
Nikolas: I know, but I just -- I've been running for months from -- from Helena, from you, from everyone. I can't run anymore. I won't do it.
Emily: Jason will help us disappear. No one will find us, not even Helena. And in a few years --
Nikolas: And I made the choice --
Emily: When everything calms down --
Nikolas: I made a choice. I'll deal with the consequences, okay?
Emily: Oh. I don't think I can.
