Zander's Voice: "Lansing -- by the time you get this, Elizabeth will have killed me. I think she should pay for that, don't you?"
Ric: Oh --
Elizabeth: I didn't mean --
Ric chuckles.
Elizabeth: Are you okay?
Ric: Yeah.
Elizabeth: I didn't mean to startle you.
Ric: Yeah, I'm okay. You got my heart started again. But then, what else is new?
Elizabeth: You seemed awfully far away. Does it have anything to do with whatever you're reading?
Ric: I was just going over a transcript of a witness statement in a very unpleasant case.
Elizabeth: Oh.
Ric: How -- how are you? You were -- you were up and down a lot last night.
Elizabeth: Oh, God. Yeah, just, you know, pregnancy-related insomnia. It'll pass.
Elizabeth giggles.
Ric: Why do I think it's more than that?
Elizabeth: You tell me.
Ric: Well, I'm sure you were still upset about the way your friends ambushed me about Zander's murder.
Elizabeth: Oh, come on, they tried to get you to confess to a murder you didn't -- I mean, my very best friends are accusing you --
Ric: Look, in all fairness, they were just acting out of concern for your best interests.
Elizabeth: I believe in you.
Ric: Elizabeth, I'm in for the long haul. There's nothing that you could do or say that would ever turn me away from you.
Elizabeth: I know that.
Ric: Good. So if there's -- if there's something that's troubling you, if there's something that you know about Zander's murder, just tell me.
Ric: I'm so grateful for your faith, especially since I haven't always deserved it.
Elizabeth: I look in your eyes and I see the truth.
Ric: And you're just as convinced that Nikolas didn't do it?
Elizabeth: Nikolas doesn't have it in him to kill somebody in cold blood. Believe me, I -- I know. I just --
Ric: Well, then who, Elizabeth? Emily?
Elizabeth: Come on, honey. I don't -- I don't hang out with murderers, okay? You need to look outside my circle of friends. I mean, I'm sure there are hundreds of candidates. I -- Zander was hooked up with Faith, wasn't he, and everything she brings? I mean, to those people, murder is just something on the day's to-do list, you know? I mean, he could've -- he could've crossed one of those people. Faith could've killed him. I -- just promise me you're not going to stop looking into it?
Ric: No, I am. Of course.
Elizabeth: Okay.
Ric: Okay.
Ric: I love you. You know that, right? There is nothing in this world I wouldn't do for you. Nothing.
Elizabeth: You know I feel exactly the same way.
Elizabeth: If you're here to accuse my husband of murder again, you just missed him.
Emily: You know, I don't apologize for doing anything that might clear Nikolas.
Elizabeth: What gives you the right to throw around accusations without any proof?
Emily: I won't let Nikolas go to prison for something Ric might've done.
Elizabeth: You know, believe it or not, I'm worried about Nikolas, too. But as sure as you are that Nikolas did not kill Zander, I'm that sure about Ric.
Emily: Last summer, you were positive that Ric hadn't kidnapped Carly, and you were wrong about that. What if you're wrong now?
Emily: You were the one who told me what an amazing liar Ric is. I mean, he knows you inside and out, Elizabeth. He knows your buttons and exactly how hard to push them. He is working you --
Elizabeth: I'm not stupid --
Emily: And you are buying it.
Elizabeth: I'm not stupid, Emily, okay? I know my husband and he's changed.
Emily: Okay --
Elizabeth: He is not the same person who kidnapped Carly.
Emily: You honestly believe that there is no chance that Ric killed Zander after everything else he's done? I mean, are you so desperate to have a father for your baby that you have closed your mind to everything else? We are talking about Nikolas' life here!
Elizabeth: Oh -- okay, you know what, Emily? Despite what you may think, Nikolas' life isn't any more valuable than Ric's, and my marriage isn't any less strong or less important than your little love story.
Emily: Okay, now, the difference is Ric thinks his love justifies any horrible thing he does -- including killing Zander so he can have a clear path to your baby -- and apparently you are just fine with that.
Elizabeth: I'm warning you, Emily. I don't want to lose your friendship. But force me to choose between you and my husband, you're going to lose.
Emily: Okay. You know what? Here's a warning for you. I won't let Ric or anyone else railroad Nikolas into jail for a murder he didn't commit.
