'Connor' is the true character of Nikolas Cassadine however, he has amnesia and believes that he is Connor Bishop.

Emily and 'Connor' are standing on the docks, Emily is pushing 'Connor' to remember and relive his memories. There are quick flashbacks to the fire, Nikolas standing on the rooftop watching the helicopter take off.

'Connor': It doesn't make any sense. I -- I know I was in a fire. There was smoke all around. I could --

Emily: Are you remembering something else?

'Connor': I wasn't -- I wasn't wearing fatigues, Emily. I had on a tuxedo shirt.

Emily: Can you see who was on the helicopter?

'Connor': It's starting to all come back to me.

'Connor' continues to remember flashbacks from the fire, watching the helicopter take off. Emily stands behind him and watches as he remembers, slowly prompting him.

'Connor': I was straining to see someone as the helicopter took off. They must've been important to me.

Emily: You're getting close.

'Connor': And I believed that it was the last time I'd ever see this person. I -- I took a few steps forward as the helicopter pulled away.

Emily: And? Can you see who it is?

'Connor': No. No, there's nothing else. I don't remember.'

'Connor' turns around to meet Emily's gaze.

Emily: All right. Well, the important thing is that your memory is intact. You don't have to push.

'Connor': But I've known Mary my whole life. If I was in a fire outside of combat, wouldn't she have told me about it?

Emily: It makes sense.

'Connor': Yeah, well, maybe it's -- maybe it's not a memory at all. Maybe I want this so badly I’m just making it up.

Emily: You're not. It --

'Connor': What? How can you be so certain of that?

Emily: Um -- maybe it's just -- just the tone of your -- your voice. These images are real to you. Promise that you'll keep trying. I'll help any way I can.

'Connor': You've already done enough, Emily. And if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have even seen that doctor at Mercy. I certainly wouldn't know this much.

Emily: And I'd do more if I could.

'Connor': I know, but Mary thinks it's a bad idea to push. She -- she thinks it can be dangerous for an amnesiac to have his whole life just, you know, flood back in on him. But if it gives me a chance to get my past back, then --

Emily: Can I ask you something?

'Connor': Sure, sure, anything.

Emily: If someone had the answers you were looking for, would you want them to tell you, or would you rather find out the -- the truth yourself?

Emily and 'Connor' continue to stand on the docks.

'Connor': The only person who knows enough about my life to give me answers is Mary, and she's -- she's so resistant. I mean, I asked her if I’ve -- you know, I've ever hurt her before or --

Emily: What did she say?

'Connor': She was offended even at the idea. I mean, it's as though Mary needs to believe that the time -- the time before I was injured in combat was -- was idyllic. I mean, she makes it sound like it was some sort of, you know, fantasy, Emily.

Emily: You think she's misrepresenting the past?

'Connor': Oh, well, I -- I don't know. I mean, every couple has their moments they'd like to forget, I suppose -- fights, jealousy, whatever -- but in the end, hopefully, the good outweighs the bad. I don't -- if getting the answers I need is going to jeopardize my life with Mary, then -- then I don't know. Maybe -- maybe it'll have to wait.

Emily: You sure?

'Connor': Yes. But thanks for listening, anyway.

Emily: Yeah.

'Connor': Um -- I should be getting back.

Emily: To Mary, right?

'Connor': Yeah.

Emily: Yeah.

'Connor': Good night, okay?

Emily: Good night.

'Connor': Night.

'Connor' goes to leave, Emily is toward the water. 'Connor walks slowly up the stairs and pauses, looking out at Emily. He seems to look longingly at her and then leaves.

Monica and Mary meet up in the General Hospital nursing station.

Monica: You still here?

Mary: Hi, Dr. Quartermaine.

Monica: Listen, I -- I hope I didn't upset you, talking about that fire earlier.

Mary: No, I was just thinking about Emily. She really believed Nikolas was dead.

Monica: Well, no. Actually, she didn't. We all did. Even when the rescue team had given up hope, she insisted on going back into that wreckage, and she looked and looked until she was exhausted.

Mary: She never found him?

Monica: No. No, somehow Nikolas got out all by himself, which -- which was a miracle.

Mary: He sounds amazing.

Monica: Emily believes that it was their love that saved him. It's their love that can survive anything. That's why when the accident happened and they couldn't recover the body; that's what's made it so hard for her.

Mary: But she believes he's dead now, right?

Monica: Well, she says she does, but in truth, Emily will never give up on Nikolas. Excuse me.

Monica leaves Mary standing alone, contemplatively.

Emily comes into the General Hospital lobby and Mary sees her, stopping her. Emily is combative and goes on the offensive, immediately.

Mary: Emily. I ran into your mother earlier. I thought you were taking the night off.

Emily: You spoke with my mother?

Mary: Yeah, she's -- she's afraid you're pushing yourself too hard after everything you've been through.

Emily: What, so you think I would be better off spending my time mourning for Nikolas?

Mary: I'm sorry, but did I do something to offend you?

Emily: I'm sorry. Um -- it's been -- been a really long day.

Mary: Yeah, well, loss changes you. There's no rules on how to deal with it.

Emily: And you can relate because you lost your own husband.

Mary: Dr. Quartermaine told me about that fire you survived a few months ago, how -- how Nikolas was trapped because there was -- there was no room for him on the helicopter.

Emily: But he came back to me, Mary. That night Nikolas walked back into our home, I realized that our love was stronger than anything fate could throw our way. If Nikolas were alive today, he would find his way back to me again.

Mary looks taken aback by Emily's vehemance.

'Connor' opens the door to the cabin and calls for Mary. He walks through the living room and opens the bedroom door, calling for Mary. She's nowhere to be found.

'Connor': Mary, you home? We need to talk. Mary?

Emily walks back into the Nurse's station, watching Mary work. She stops to gather her composure and then approaches Mary to talk to her.

Emily: Take your own advice, Mary -- don't overdue it.

Mary: I am just processing these claims from the P.C. Hotel fire.

Emily: Hmm.

Mary: People have been waiting a really long time.

Emily: A lot of people were hurt that night. So many lives changed.

Mary: It must've been terrifying.

Emily: We do what we have to do to survive, Mary. Nikolas was trapped beneath all that rubble for hours, but he made it out.

Mary: He must've been very strong.

Emily: I remember watching him from the helicopter, how he stayed on that roof watching me go.

Mary: And you could see him the whole time?

Emily: And he could see me. I'll never forget that moment, and neither would Nikolas. If he were alive today, that image would be etched in his heart, too.

The camera pans onto the cottage and a sleeping 'Connor' on the couch. 'Connor' seems to be dreaming as the music plays in the background. The dream begin, shows a silhouette of Emily searching through the rubble of the fire. The dream is from Nikolas' prespective who is trapped underneath the rubble watching Emily search. He's reaching out for her, muttering the words when she moves away. 'Connor' does not dream that he sees Emily's face. Just a silhouette.

Nikolas' Voice: I'm alive. Don't give up on me. I survived to come back to you.
