Emily: What are you doing here?

Mary: Human Resources agreed to give me my old job back.

Emily: What, you're working here again?

Mary: Look, Emily, I can't run and hide from what happened. I have to rebuild my life, and that includes trying again with Nikolas.

Emily: I can't believe you would show your face here again, Mary, after everything you did.

Mary: I realize that I’ve made some terrible mistakes, but I'm trying to make amends.

Emily: Stealing Nikolas' life, telling him he was your dead husband -- that's more than a mistake, Mary. That's either kidnapping, insanity, or both!

Mary: I understand why you're angry, Emily. But Nikolas, fortunately, has been more understanding.

Emily: Nikolas loves me. You're just the woman who lied to him.

Mary: Okay, I gave him a life, and he was happy.

Emily: Obviously not, Mary, because when he learned the truth, Nikolas couldn't get away from you fast enough.

Mary: He fell in love with me. We got married in Mexico.

Emily: He thought he was renewing his vows as Connor Bishop, Mary. The whole ceremony was a lie.

Mary: It was real in our hearts. We looked at each other, we said those words, and we meant them. Nikolas can't remember what he feels for you, Emily. But his feelings for me -- they're still with him.

Emily: You are certifiable.

Mary: Look, I know I couldn't deal with Connor’s death. It clouded my judgment. But I'm seeing things clearly now.

Emily: Well, then see the truth. Nikolas doesn't love you, and he never will.

Nikolas: Everything okay?

Emily: Fine. What are you doing at the hospital?

Nikolas: I'm here to set up a hypnotherapy appointment with another doctor.

Emily: Oh, that's great. You -- you made so much progress with your treatments before.

Mary: I thought you didn't want to force yourself to remember.

Emily: You're the only one who didn't want Nikolas to get help, Mary.

Nikolas: There are no guarantees I'll recover my memory, but hearing who I am isn't good enough. I need to find out for myself.

Monica: Excuse me, Nikolas. The doctor is ready to see you.

Nikolas: Wait, I thought you were feeling better.

Emily: No, I feel fine. My mom just wants me to have another physical.

Monica: Just to be on the safe side.

Emily: Yeah.

Nikolas: Let me know how it goes.

Emily: I will. Good luck setting up that appointment.

Mary: It's good to see you. I -- I was going to send your things to wherever you were staying, but I wasn't quite sure --

Nikolas: They're not my things, Mary. They're your late husband's things. I tried to return his clothes. I came by your house to drop them off; it was all locked up. I thought you may have left town.

Mary: Mr. Alcazar was kind enough to send me to a spa for a few days. He gave me time to think things through.

Nikolas: You decided to stay in Port Charles?

Mary: I want to, but I have something to tell you about the rest of our lives.

Mary: Thank you for agreeing to walk with me. I didn't want to do this at the hospital.

Nikolas: Well, what is it you wanted to tell me?

Mary: I'm sorry. While I was gone, I realized that I haven't been thinking clearly for a long time. When Connor died, I -- I withdrew inside of myself, and I was hiding from reality.

Nikolas: I know. Yeah, you made me hide with you.

Mary: I know. I was wrong. But I'm done hiding. Loving you has given me my life back, and I want to do the same for you. Now, I know that there is almost no way that I can make up for all my lies, but I have to try. And that's why I went to Mexico -- to get our marriage annulled.

Mary: Our wedding in Mexico meant so much to me, but it wasn't legal.

Nikolas: Then why go through the trouble of having it annulled?

Mary: To give both of us some closure. I meant those vows, Nikolas. I truly did love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, if annulling the marriage helps you move on, then I'm glad you took that step.

Mary: I missed you while I was gone.

Nikolas: You missed Connor.

Mary: No, I missed you, the man that I -- I grew to love. I hope that even a part of you missed me, too?

Nikolas: What will you do now?

Mary: Take time to process everything. I know you need to do the same.

Nikolas: All I'm trying to do, Mary, is find out who I really am and how I'm going to live my life. And I don't where that journey is going to take me, but I just need to figure out what's real in my life right now and what isn’t.

Mary: We fell in love. That's real. It doesn't matter what name you call yourself or if we have these papers or not. I'm married to you --

Nikolas: Look, I can't deal with anyone's expectations right now, okay? Please.

Mary: Okay. Well, I'm not asking you to. I believe you still love me. I can see it in your eyes.

Nikolas: Mary, Mary, I can't -- come on, I can’t.

Mary: You know what? You -- you don't have to --

Nikolas: Look, I don't know what I feel about anything right now.

Nikolas: Hi.

Emily: Hi. I -- I let myself in. I hope you don't mind.

Nikolas: No. How'd your doctor's appointment go?

Emily: Oh, I'm perfectly healthy, same as I was this morning, but my parents feel better because they've had it verified in triplicate. You haven't -- haven't settled in much.

Nikolas: Yeah, yeah. Apparently, there are hundreds of boxes still in storage, so --

Emily: Do you need help setting up?

Nikolas: No. I don't know what's in any of them or even if I want any of it.

Emily: I'd be happy to help you sort through it all.

Nikolas: Look, I know that you're hopeful about me going back to hypnotherapy, but like I said, there are no guarantees. Even if my memory does come back, I still have to deal with everything that I’ve experienced since the accident, and that includes Mary.

Emily: Deal with her how?

Nikolas: She's begged me not to turn my back on her. She still believes that there's something between us.

Emily: Well, she's wrong.

Nikolas: Oh, Emily, I believed that I was her husband for -- for months. It doesn't matter that it was based on a lie because I slept beside her every night and woke up next to her every morning. I can't just shut --

Emily: Could we not talk about this, please?

Nikolas: I'm just -- I'm just trying to be honest with you, okay? I absolutely hate that Mary lied to me. I do. But part of me just still feels tied to her, if only by the time and experiences that we've shared together. But Mary’s the only part of my life that I remember. My heart doesn't know the difference between Nikolas and Connor right now, and I just can't turn my back on that connection. I can't do it.

Emily: I can't ask you not to spend time with Mary, but I can ask you to give us the same chance.

Emily: I'm not going to lie. I -- I look at you, and I see the man I was supposed to marry. I'd give anything to have you remember, to know that -- that you feel the way I do when I stand close to you and when -- when my hand brushes your skin, when our eyes meet.

Nikolas: What if I don't remember? What if I never become the man you need me to be?

Emily: We made a pact never to let go. It's the reason I'm here today. This time let me rescue you, Nikolas. Hold on to me, and we'll get our lives back.

Mary: Lorenzo? It's Mary Bishop. Hi. Yeah, I'm -- I’m sorry to impose, but can you ask Nikolas to participate in a foreign business deal; send him someplace that only I can get to? Thank you, Lorenzo. Thank you. I'll -- I'll be forever grateful, and I believe someday Nikolas will be, too.
