July 21, 2004 Screencaps

Emily: I spent the night here like the family wanted. My blood work is fine. I ate a ton of breakfast, so why can't I check out?

Monica: Maybe this afternoon -- that's a big maybe.

Emily: Well, all I did was faint, Mom.

Monica: Well, it's not okay to faint.

Emily: I just got a little tired. So what?

Monica: You collapsed from exhaustion, Em. Come on. You had Lila’s memorial. You have the situation with Nikolas. I'm actually surprised you lasted this long.

Emily: I just don't get why I have to stay here.

Monica: Because I am your mother and I say so, that's why. Behave yourself. Oh, Lucky. Maybe you can convince her to get some rest here before she goes out to heal the rest of the world.

Lucky: Yeah, I'll see what I can do.

Monica: Good. If you're not going to listen to me, listen to Lucky, okay?

Emily: Yes, mother.

Monica: Thank you.

Lucky: Mm-hmm.

Emily: If I stay in this hospital bed one more second, I'm going to start screaming, just so you know.

Lucky: Well, then I guess it's a good thing that I came by here to bust you out.

Nikolas: I haven't regained my memory, but I’ve decided to stop running from my past and try and live up to the man people say I was.

Lorenzo: Great. Why'd you call me?

Nikolas: Because I need someone that -- that I think I can trust to tell me everything about Nikolas Cassadine.

Alexis: Then you're asking the wrong person.

Alexis: Did Mr. Alcazar happen to mention to you that the Cassadines owed him a staggering amount of money that you were expected to pay him back? And when you didn't pay him back fast enough, he had you nearly beaten to death?

Lorenzo: That was business.

Alexis: That was attempted murder.

Lorenzo: As opposed to murder in the first degree?

Nikolas: Wait, is that true?

Lorenzo: Yes. It was a warning to your late uncle who was late on his payments.

Nikolas: What about the debt?

Lorenzo: It's been settled.

Alexis: Nikolas, the man is a criminal who will destroy your life.

Nikolas: I need to speak with Alexis for a moment.

Lorenzo: Yeah, I think someone better. Feel free to call me anytime.

Alexis: The man is poison.

Nikolas: That's for me to decide, thank you.

Alexis: Before your accident, you would never, ever have considered him an ally.

Nikolas: We come from the same world, Alexis, so to speak.

Alexis: You and Alcazar?

Nikolas: Yes.

Alexis: I hardly think so. The man is an international criminal. He deals in drugs and weapons and God knows what else.

Nikolas: And I'm -- and I'm what? The Prince Cassadine? Prince of what, exactly?

Alexis: Well, nothing. It's what you used to say, but the truth is, is that is a real, legitimate title. You were trained from birth to take over the Cassadine Empire. My brother raised you, and he loved you, Nikolas, beyond all reason. Unfortunately, he died. Your mother is Laura. She left you in Greece when you were very young.

Nikolas: How did I end up here?

Alexis: Obligation. You made friends here, Nikolas. You made good friends. They were your own age, and you had never had that experience before.

Nikolas: Was I happy?

Alexis: I think so -- for a Cassadine. The Cassadines have never been accused of looking at the bright side of things. You were kind, you were generous, you were loyal. You wanted to replace the Cassadine insanity with reason. You were our soul, our conscience.

Nikolas: Like -- like Emily is for the Quartermaines.

Alexis: In a way, yes.

Nikolas: Yeah. I think I'm beginning to realize why we fell in love.

Emily: Well, is it me?

Lucky: Absolutely.

Emily: Hmm.

Lucky: Why would you be sleeping with a shower cap?

Emily: What -- I forgot to take it off because I’m so exhausted?

Lucky: Yeah, pull a sheet over your face.

Emily and Lucky laugh.

Emily: Right! How else can I sleep with all this noise? And if they think I'm sleeping, then maybe they will leave me alone, right? Okay.

Lucky: Good. Looks pretty good.

Emily: Let's get out of here. Wait, where are we going?

Lucky: Well, no one will suspect the rowboats at the lake. You know, I'll row. You sleep and eat.

Emily: Uh-huh, works for me.

Lucky: All right. Hey, hey, get the gown.

Emily: Oh -- all right! Okay. Yeah, I've been putting on a little weight lately.

Lucky: Yeah, I didn't know how to tell you.

Emily laughs.

Nikolas: If Emily and I could have a moment, please.

Lucky: I'll be right out here.

Emily: All right.

Monica: Lucky? Is it Emily? Is something wrong?

Lucky: No, Nikolas showed up.

Monica: Okay, well, listen; just remember that Emily has known you a lot longer than she has Nikolas.

Lucky: We'll always be friends, no matter what else happens.

Nikolas: I'm glad you're feeling better.

Emily: Yeah, I was feeling better last night, and now I’m going stir-crazy. Yeah, you caught me in the act of sneaking out.

Nikolas: I see that.

Emily: Yeah.

Nikolas: Well, I'll try not to keep you too long. I'm -- I’m just trying to -- to learn more about Nikolas Cassadine, and --

Emily: What do you want to know?

Nikolas: Well, just, you know, the kind of man that he was and things that he believed were important. Things -- I mean -- I heard so many things. I just don't know if I can live up to the expectations.

Emily: Well, Nikolas wondered that, too, all the time, but the people who loved him -- we just wanted him to be happy.

Nikolas: Was he ever?

Emily: Yes.

Nikolas: With you?

Emily: That's right.

Nikolas: Look, I can't make any promises, but I’m ready to try and figure out who I am and who we were to each other.

Emily: Nikolas had been riding since -- thank you -- since practically before he could walk. And he loved it so much, I wanted to try, and I had visions of us galloping through open fields of clover and my hair streaming in the wind and --

Nikolas: Did that ever happen?

Emily: Nikolas was helping me onto this gorgeous old horse, Bigelow. He was huge, but Nikolas used to lead Lulu around on him, so, you know, anyone could ride Bigelow -- so we thought. Nikolas gave me a leg up, but I forgot to grab the reins and I went flying all the way over the horse right into the mud. And Bigelow looks around like, "Yeah, that was impressive." And you -- you didn't laugh -- at least not out loud. You -- um -- just picked me up like I was a feather and you looked into my eyes and --

Knock on door.

Monica: Well. Well, I guess you got word that the doctors voted me down and you -- you can go home anytime.

Emily: That's great!

Monica: Yeah. And, Nikolas, it's good to see you around here again.

Nikolas: Thank you.

Monica: You -- um -- you weren't planning on sneaking out of here, were you?

Emily: No. Why would I do that?

Monica: Oh, well, I'll see you at home.

Emily giggles.

Emily: Oh. Yeah. Okay. I guess I'm so out of here.

Nikolas: Oh, hey, could I drive you home? You know, continue our conversation?

Emily: Why not.

Emily: Where did you go? I thought you were right outside the door.

Lucky: Yeah, it turns out I have to go pick up Lulu at dance class. You -- uh --

Emily: Okay.

Lucky: You think you can get another way home?

Nikolas: Yeah, I'll take care of it.

Lucky: Great. You know what? I'll call you later.

Emily: Okay. Thank you. Thank you.
