Nikolas: Hey. Wake up. Why are you waiting for me? We already said it all.

Emily: Not exactly. I didn't get to have my say. And just so you know -- I'll wait forever if I have to.

Emily: At least you've toned it down a notch.

Nikolas: Are you taking that as a good sign? That my memory will somehow magically be restored and I'll feel all warm and fuzzy toward you?

Emily: I'm assuming it hasn't. You never used to be cutting and sarcastic with me.

Nikolas: Oh, good. Good. Another scrap of information about Nikolas Cassadine that I didn't know. I'm going to go ahead and file that away with all the other little fascinating little nuggets that I happen to learn at the library or find out from other people, and you know what? Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to cobble together enough pieces to form a man that I recognize. But I got to tell you something, from what I know so far, I知 not really that impressed. Nikolas Cassadine to me seems to be nothing more than a rich -- a useless dilettante descended from a long line of psychotic murderers.

Emily: No, you're wrong. Nikolas is a wonderful person. He's kind and generous and forgiving.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, I'm sorry, but I don't feel a connection to your cute little paragon that you're describing, Emily. I don't feel kind. I don't feel generous, and I don't feel wonderful, and I certainly don't feel like forgiving all the people who lied to me!

Emily: I waited here all night for a chance to explain. Can you give me that much?

Nikolas: Explain all you want. It won't change anything.

Emily: My older brother Jason was brain-damaged in a car wreck, and he was left with no memory, no context for emotion. He changed overnight from a loving, responsible premed student to a dark, angry nightmare. He turned his back on everyone who loved him most, and I didn't want that to happen to you.

Nikolas: So you chose to leave me in ignorance and lie to my face?

Emily: I was praying that you would remember in your own time. I didn't want to force you into a life that you weren't prepared for.

Nikolas: In other words, you decided to play God -- to choose how I should live my life, what I was and wasn't capable of.

Emily: Do you think that this has been easy for me? I mean, it nearly killed me seeing you with Mary, knowing that you felt obligated to a woman who was keeping you prisoner in a lie!

Nikolas: You -- you helped her!

Emily: I was trying to help you, to protect you, to give you time to remember on your own.

Nikolas: What did you imagine would happen, Emily? What, that I壇 wake up one morning and realize I was kind, generous, forgiving Nikolas Cassadine who loved you with all my heart?

Emily: Yes, that is exactly what I imagined. I dreamed of it. I still do.

Nikolas: Well, look at me! It hasn't happened! And I don't feel anything for you. I want you to go. I want you to go right now.

Emily: Listen to me --

Nikolas: I want you to go right now.

Emily: Listen to me. Listen to me. Be as angry -- be as angry with me as you want. Just don't give up trying to remember.

Nikolas: Don't tell me what to do, okay? You have no right telling me what to do. I want you to go right now. Just go. Oh, God.

Jason and Sam are in progress when...

Jason: I believe you and that's that.

Phone rings.

Jason: Yeah?

Emily: Something's happened. I need to speak to you right away.

Alcazar: You sounded terrible. What happened?

Mary: The worst thing possible. I didn't know who else to call.

Alcazar: Nikolas remembered.

Mary: No, but he knows.

Alcazar: Who told him?

Mary: Would you believe it? After all the lies and all the desperate ways I tried to cover -- in the end, Nikolas heard the truth from me. I slipped up. I -- I made an assumption, opened my mouth and the wrong words came out. It wasn't much of a leap for him to figure out the rest.

Alcazar: Yeah, he must've been furious.

Mary: I tried to explain to him how lonely I was after Connor died. I was scared and desperate. I wanted him to understand that, yeah, at first I was using him as a substitute for Connor, but I fell in love with him. He didn't want to hear it. He -- he walked out. I don't know where he is or if I'll ever see him again.

Alcazar: It must be devastating. I'm sorry.

Mary: You really mean that.

Alcazar: Love is love, no matter how badly or imperfectly expressed. And I am certainly in no position to criticize. In fact, I壇 like to help.

Knock on door.

Alexis: I came as soon as I got your message. I'm glad you're all right.

Nikolas: Yeah. I hope I didn't say anything to mislead you, Alexis. I know that you are my aunt because I have been told by several people that you are my aunt, and I have read several articles to that effect, but I don't remember you. And I'm not interested in some big, fat, phony, emotional reunion. I asked you to come here because you're supposed to be my lawyer, and I want to know how much I知 worth.

Jason: Emily, I知 --

Ric: Oh, go ahead, Jason, don't stop on my account. Tell me, where were you exactly? Hopefully, not with Sam because, see, she's wanted by the police, and if you were with her, then you'd be considered her accomplice.

Alexis: I wanted to tell you the truth, Nikolas, but Emily made a very compelling argument -- that it might be startling for you, so I deferred to her.

Nikolas: Hmm, yeah, well, that ends now. Tell me something, Alexis, does the Cassadine estate go to you in the event of my death?

Alexis: No.

Nikolas: No? No, because, see, I couldn't help but wonder. See, everyone else involved in this has a motive that they won't admit to, and I知 just trying to figure out what yours is.

Alexis: Your best interests.

Nikolas: "Your best --" please. I've heard that one so much I'm choking on it!

Alexis: I'm sure that's probably true. To answer your question, you left money in trust to my daughter, Kristina, your niece. You left money to your sister Lesley Lu. Your will is being challenged by your grandmother. Her name is Helena. She's a very evil woman, and I mean that.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, at least she hasn't lied to me yet.

Alexis: Nikolas, I hope you'll believe that I'm telling you the truth now. You blessedly don't remember your grandmother, and that is a good thing because she is something to be wary of. If she finds out that you're alive, she will stop at nothing to control you.

Nikolas: Right. As opposed to you and Emily and Mary, who's controlled me by deception for months, Alexis -- for months?

Alcazar: Sorry for interrupting.

Alexis: Well, you are. What do you want?

Alcazar: I've just seen Mary. She told me what happened. You deserve an explanation of my part in all this. So consider me available whenever you'd like to speak to me.

Nikolas: Yeah, well, you're here now. You'll excuse us, won't you?

Alexis: You are dealing with a very dangerous man, Nikolas. Please don't destroy yourself just to get back at the rest of us.

Nikolas: Well, I'll give you this much -- at least you're the first person to openly account for your lies.

Ric: I was informed by Sheriff Wade of the Bailey's Beach, South Carolina Police Department that Sam McCall is an alias for Sandra McIntire, who was convicted for murder and arson in absentia, a particularly gruesome murder, from what I understand. Sam must have had some real childhood issues to burn her own mother alive. Now, I understand your instinct to want to protect the woman who's carrying your child. Unfortunately, you didn't know how unbalanced and dangerous she was when you slept with her. But I think we need to do what's best for everybody, especially for this unborn child, and you need to turn her in. She can have the baby -- albeit, it'll be in prison. You just take the child and you raise it on your own. You've done that before. Okay, a familiar response. Silence is golden. Could you please instruct your brother to start acting like a father instead of a criminal like he always does and encourage him to make the right decision for an innocent child?

Jason: You know, Ric, I haven't seem Sam since yesterday. She packed her bag, said she was leaving me.

Ric: Really? Am I supposed to believe that?

Jason: Prove that I知 lying.

Ric: Well, I will, eventually. Just like I'm going to find Sam. What you need to do is decide whether this child is going to grow up with one or both of its parents in prison.

Emily: This can't be right. I mean, could Ric be exaggerating or mistaken?

Jason: Emily, Sam is in so much trouble. I don't even know where to start to get her out.

Alcazar: I knew a little bit about Nikolas Cassadine. Father and uncle dead, both murderers. Mother clinically insane. Family fortunes dwindling. My own family isn't quite as gothic, but they've been a burden to me at times. When I saw you in that church and realized that you didn't remember any of that, I envied you. And I meant to leave you in peace until it occurred that you might be helpful to me.

Nikolas: How's that?

Alcazar: The woman that I love, Carly Corinthos, is tied to Jason Morgan, who's tied to Emily, who's tied to you. I thought I might be able to use that connection to my advantage. In the meantime, you made an excellent employee -- fearless, efficient. And then I came to sympathize with Mary. People do desperate, misguided things in the name of love.

Emily: I kept telling Nikolas how much I love him, how he didn't realize it, but he loved me, too. I told him I was only trying to protect him, and of course that made him even more furious. He not only thinks I知 a liar, he resents me for treating him as if he were incompetent.

Jason: What do you want me to do?

Emily: Nothing. Look, I shouldn't have bothered you. I know your focus is on Sam right now.

Jason: Sam is safe for the moment. I always have time for you. Just tell me what you need.

Emily: Maybe if you talked to him, not to plead my case or anything -- I mean, that's a lost cause right now -- but I'm sure he feels alone, and I think it would help him to have a friend to talk to -- you know, especially someone who understands what he's going through.

Jason: Yeah, I'll try. But, you know, it's not the same thing. My memory's completely destroyed, and Nikolas is actually going to remember.

Emily: I know. No, I realize that, but I don't want the real Nikolas, my Nikolas, to wake up that morning and realize that he's ruined his life in the meantime.

Nikolas: It's ironic, in a way. You lied to me. You tried to use me -- well, you did use me, but I'm not angry at you. To be quite honest, I'm actually quite impressed. At least you freely admit that your motives were selfish. All I've heard at this point from everyone else is how much people want to love and protect me, as if it justifies lying to my face.

Alcazar: No. I've always thought you were capable of protecting yourself. And I no longer think that you could help me get Carly, but I do believe that you and I could be valuable assets to one another in a business capacity.

Jason: What are you doing here?

Nikolas: He's my guest. What's your excuse, that you're Emily痴 brother?

Sam: Hey, no, no, no. Don't worry about me. I'm fine, okay? You just -- you need to stay where you are. I can't risk anyone finding you. Yeah, I'll come to you as soon as I can arrange it. Just stay strong, okay? Bye.

Emily: The guard let me in. Are you planning to leave again, Sam? Jason puts his freedom on the line for you, and you pay him back by lying to him?
