Emily: I'm glad I caught you. I know you wouldn't want to miss this.

Justus: Yeah, I hardly got down the drive when you stopped me. What's going on?

Monica: Yes, Justus, well, Alan has been eliminated from the contest.

Justus: What?

Ned: That's one down.

Alan: You know, it's like the judge is watching us every single minute.

Justus: Well, that makes sense.

Alan: Is it you, Monica?

Ned: A minute ago, you and Monica were conspiring together.

Alan: Why wasn't Monica eliminated? The alliance was her idea.

Monica: You trying to take me down with you?

Emily: Mom, dad, I mean, you're both doctors. You don't need the money.

Alan: We're not worried about ourselves.

Monica: No, Emily, we were thinking about your future.

Alan: Besides, that sister of mine isn't going to get a nickel of my mother's money.

Justus: You know what, Alan -- none of this would've happened if you hadn't tried to manipulate the outcome with Monica over there.

Alan: Oh, it's so easy for you to say. You didn't get kicked out.

Alice: Oh, ho.

Alan chuckles.

Ned: Yet.

Emily: All right. "To the loved ones of Lila Quartermaine."

Justus: Looks like someone's about to be eliminated.

Emily: I said I didn't want anything to do with this, and I still don’t.

Ned: Well, somebody has to open it.

Justus: Now, Ned, you wouldn't be in such a rush to open it if you thought your name was on the inside.

Ned: No one wants to lose their chance to inherit, but then again, I haven't done anything wrong.

Alice: Well, I have the letter-opener. Who wants the honors?

Alan: Well, I've got nothing to lose.

Alan: Here you go, Monica. Don't spend it all in one place.

Ned: That's two down.

Monica: Oh, don't get so cocky, Ned. For all we know, these letters could be forged by someone who stands to inherit her estate.

Alan: Like Tracy.

Monica: Or Edward.

Alan: You know what, she's right. We don't have any proof that the actual judge sent these letters.

Emily: Well, they're on grandmother's personal stationery.

Monica: Which anyone could duplicate!

Justus: And the real judge would certainly have intervened if anyone was trying to cheat.

Alan: Well, it's obvious to me that the only judge could be Emily.

Emily: What, you think I eliminated you and mom?

Ned: If Lila wanted Emily to inherit, she wouldn't have made her a judge.

Monica: This is ridiculous. Now, how could Lila, possibly the wisest, most generous person in the world, expect this bunch of lunatics to compete for her fortune?

Phone rings.

Monica: And by the way, is this even legal?

Emily: Lucky. Is something wrong?

Ned: You two knew the risks and the rules. You acted out of greed, and now you've been eliminated. This is the way grandmother wanted it.

Alan: Maybe the judge is just misinterpreting her wishes.

Monica: Or the contest has just been rigged.

Justus: Or you're simply paying the price for your actions.

Emily: I'll be right there.

Alan: Emily, is something wrong?

Emily: Yeah -- oh, fine. Just go back to fighting over grandmother's money.

Tracy hums.

Tracy: Oh, a typical family afternoon at home.

Ned: You just missed the main event. Alan and Monica have just been eliminated.

Tracy: That makes me laugh. And you two were so sure I was going to be the first person to walk the plank.

Alan: Well, you're not going to win because the heir has to be virtuous, and you're not.

Monica: For all we know, Tracy, you forged these letters just to eliminate Alan and me.

Tracy: Did no such thing. I would never subvert my mother's wishes that way.

Emily: Thanks so much for calling me.

Lucky: Yeah, I know how important Jason is to you.

Emily: Okay, what's going on?

Lucky: Well, Ric -- he wants proof that Jason and Sonny bought the confession that exonerated Sam. He had me follow Sam. Turns out she met Jason at a motorcycle shop on the edge of town.

Emily: What was he doing there?

Lucky: Sam has a brother. Jason's been hiding him.

Emily: I know I have no right to ask you to do this --

Lucky: You don't want me to tell Ric what I found out.

Emily: Just give me a little extra time to warn Jason.

Lucky: Listen, it's my job to tell Ric everything that I found out.

Emily: I don't know what Sam’s brother has to do with any of this, but if Jason’s involved, he must have a good reason. Please, Lucky, just put off talking to Ric until I can find out more.

Lucky: Okay. You know what, maybe I can question Jason.

Emily: See, Jason will be honest with me, but if you tell Ric, he's going to twist this around to have my brother arrested. I can't lose him, too. Will you do this for me?

Sonny: Look, Jason, you did everything you could for my family and, you know, you know how grateful I am. You found the inmate who confessed to setting the fire. Sam owes you her life. My daughter does, too.

Jason: You don't need to thank me.

Sonny: Yeah, I do. You sacrificed your chance at getting Courtney back, which I know that wasn't easy for you.

Jason: Courtney and I were over long before this started, Sonny.

Sonny: Well, okay. But look, at least now you can walk away from Sam clean, get your life back.

Emily: Jase, hi. The guard let me in. I have to talk to you. Hey, Sonny.

Sonny: Hi.

Jason: What's wrong?

Sonny: I got business upstairs. You guys go ahead and talk.

Emily: All right, thanks, Sonny.

Sonny: Okay, see you later.

Emily: Thank you.

Jason: Tell me what you need.

Emily: Yeah. Ric's furious that Sam is going free. He had Lucky follow her to some motorcycle shop. Lucky saw you there, Jase. He knows about Sam’s brother and he knows you were helping to hide him.

Jason: All right, just tell me everything that Lucky said to you.

Emily: You already know everything. Lucky said once Ric finds out, this could be really bad for you.

Jason: Well, at least it's good he came to you first.

Emily: Yeah. I don't know, I had to beg him not to go to Ric right away. You know, it was hard. Lucky's developed feelings for me. You know, he's going against his oath as a police officer. I feel like I used him.

Jason: I'm sorry that you're in this position.

Emily: Well, listen, Lucky will stall, but Ric’s going to find out sooner or later.

Jason: It's okay. I'm going to make sure everything's all right.

Emily: All right. Just be careful.

Jason: Thanks.

Emily: Okay.

Sonny: Was Emily okay?

Jason: She had bad news.

Sonny: What?

Jason: Even though the charges against Sam have been dropped, Ric is still going after her.
