Zander: Oh, you don't think so? See, because I do. As a matter of fact, I think it's way past time. See, Emily, I don't want to be the guy that you settle for because you couldn't have the prince. I need to know where you stand so I can figure out what I知 going to do with the rest of my life.
Emily: I made vows to you, Zander.
Zander: Emily, you were sick. You had a high fever. Maybe you weren't thinking straight. So I知 giving you the chance right now to get it right, okay? Do you want to be married to me or not?
Emily: Of course I do. We are married, Zander.
Zander: Emily, please, please. This is very simple, okay? Understand this question -- who do you love, me or him?
Emily: All right. I'll be -- I'll be honest with you because I don't have one more -- I don't have one more evasion in me, anyway. I love you, Zander, with all of my heart. And I love -- I love Nikolas, too.
Carly: Nikolas? Capelli, what are you doing here?
Nikolas: That's -- that's a good question. What do you want, Capelli?
Capelli: You were the victim of a brutal attack. I just wanted to make sure you weren't vulnerable for another one.
Nikolas: Well, I wasn't aware I壇 been placed under police protection.
Capelli: It's nothing official, Nikolas. I just had a hunch that your security could be tightened -- and I was right. So I知 going to put a couple of plainclothes on the floor. You won't even know that we're here.
Carly: Ugh. Don't you just hate cops?
Nikolas chuckles.
Nikolas: Ugh. Well, I don't really think about them one way or the other.
Carly: What happened to you?
Nikolas: Oh, it's just a couple of thugs. All right, so -- so not that I知 not, like, honored or anything, but why -- why are you in here?
Carly: I was bored. Taking a walk and -- Nikolas, do you have any reason to believe that you were beat up on Lorenzo Alcazar's orders?
Door opens.
Jason: Carly --
Carly: Hey.
Jason: What do you -- what do you think you're doing?
Carly: Hello! Um -- you know what? You're just in time.
Jason: Aren't you supposed to be resting? --
Carly: No, I'm trying --
Jason: Instead of harassing Nikolas?
Carly: I'm not harassing Nikolas. Do you feel harassed? No, I didn't think so, okay? I have a feeling that Alcazar's people beat up Nikolas.
Jason: And how is that your business?
Carly: Okay, just -- I was in Alcazar's apartment and I saw a document with your name on it. I had completely forgotten about it until I saw you here, and I just -- I'm thinking maybe that he's interested in you and your family. Do you have any idea why?
Jason: That's being handled.
Carly: Okay, I'm speaking to Nikolas.
Jason: And I'm going to tell Nikolas, don't discuss anything with her.
Carly: Okay, now, I resent that because I can be helpful right now, and I think --
Jason: Oh, no, you can稚. So are you going to go back to bed on your own or am I going to have to carry you? Which one?
Carly: I'm having a --
Jason: Which one? Thank you.
Carly: Bye, Nikolas.
Jason: You need to tell me Alcazar hasn't seen these.
Zander: So you love me and Nikolas? How do you expect me to take that?
Emily: As an honest answer, Zander. That's what you said you wanted.
Zander: So what happened? Did I win the wedding lottery? Nikolas wasn't available and I was?
Emily: And I married you because you asked, and I love you.
Zander: So did it ever occur to you that being in love with Nikolas might put a strain on our marriage?
Emily: I didn't think that far ahead, Zander. "Till death do us part" was about as far as I could see.
Zander: Oh. Let me -- let me get this straight. You married me because you thought you were going to die?
Emily: Yes.
Zander: Oh. Okay. Ahem. Okay -- uh -- if you knew you were going to live, where would we be right now?
Nikolas: The pictures won't be a problem.
Jason: Yeah, maybe not for you.
Nikolas: They won't be for Emily either.
Jason: I'm protecting you because my sister loves you and I want Alcazar gone, but I'm not going to do it at Emily痴 expense.
Nikolas: All right, all right, I got that.
Jason: How'd you get these?
Nikolas: Lydia. You know, someone sent them to her.
Jason: Anonymously?
Nikolas: I don't --
Jason: Of course. You know, it could be Alcazar sending you a message, sending Lydia a message -- "get your husband under control" -- but you should've told me about these right away.
Nikolas: I -- I intended to, but --
Jason: Anything that might jeopardize my sister, you pick up the phone and you call me. Otherwise, you're on your own.
Nikolas: Look -- look, I love Emily, okay, and -- and I'm going to marry her as soon as Alcazar's out of the picture. Now, that makes me highly motivated. You don't have to worry; I知 not going to mess things up.
Emily: I can't answer what if, Zander. I mean, how could I possibly know? What -- what would you have done if you hadn't thought that -- that I was dying?
Zander: Your being sick never changed a thing for me, Emily. I never stopped loving you; not when you went away to school; not when you pushed me away; not when you lied about the cancer.
Emily: No, what I知 saying is if I hadn't gotten cancer, Zander, I'd be a sophomore at Stanford right now. Maybe I would've come home for the summer, maybe not. We might've found our way back together; maybe you'd be with Gia right now. What we can deal with is what happened, and if I had to do it over, I wouldn't have asked Nikolas to help me hide the cancer from you. That's when everything went so crazy. Look, there must have been signs. I mean, I know there were. You know, Nikolas told me a thousand times that I was making a huge mistake, but I -- I couldn't hear it. All I could think about was protecting you from the agony of watching me die. So I did -- I did ask him, and I can't take it back, Zander, any more than I can -- any more than I can erase what happened in the cottage the night Nikolas -- the night things got out of control with Nikolas. What I can do is apologize for being unfair to you and promise that it will never happen again, Zander. From here on out, I won't even let myself be alone with Nikolas.
Zander: Well, that isn't a great way to start a marriage. Bride ties herself to the deck so she doesn't run off with the other guy.
Emily: No, wait, listen, that is not -- that is not what I知 doing, Zander. I love you. You are my husband. I don't want anything between us to change.
Zander: Okay. Since we're debating what ifs, what if I can't stay married to a woman who keeps another man in her heart?
Emily: What are you saying?
Zander: I've seen those pictures, Emily. You and Nikolas all over each other, not giving a second thought to me or our marriage. It's going to take me a long, long time to get those images out of my head.
Emily: I understand. I understand, Zander.
Zander: Ahem. In the meantime, I have no intention of hiding in Spoon Island because the prince gave me an order. So, you need to jump when Nikolas says to. I'm sure he will protect you. But if you want to stay married to me, you will trust me to protect you in our home.
Emily: What now?
Zander: We need to make sure that the windows are locked. I'm sure they are but we need to check.
Emily: All right. You coming up?
Zander: I'm going to sit here for a while.
Emily: Hey, Zander -- why don't you -- uh -- why don't you light a fire, and we can sit and talk. Or not. Whatever you want.
Zander: I don't want to sit and look at you by firelight and think that you're about to make love to Nikolas.
Emily: Zander, are you going to be able to get past this?
Zander: I don't know. I'm going to try but it won't be tonight.
