Luke goes to kill Stefan in the hospital but Scott is there to thwart him. Scott is going to arrest Luke for attempted murder but then Capelli comes in and tells them that Stefan has escaped from the hospital.
Stefan is riffling through papers at Wyndemere. His face is covered and he runs intot he tunnels when he hears footsteps. It's Nikolas. Nikolas is reading a file and notices the desk and then the open tunnel. He turns around when the door slams and Lydia comes in.
Lydia: If you're feeling generous, I wouldn't mind a drink.
Nikolas: Why are you back?
Lydia: To make you an offer you can't refuse.
Carly's baby shower is in full swing. Emily and Zander are whispering to each other.
Carly: Aww...its so cute.
Bobbie: It is, isn't it?
Carly: I should open the next present. You two, stop whispering over there.
Zander: Sorry.
Emily: You caught us. I did the shopping and Zander wanted to know what we got you.
Carly: Oh well. Zander gets credit. It's one of the perks of married life. I mean, look at Sonny. He's not even here and he still counts as a guest of honor.
Bobbie: Aww...but I should have told you...both you that it was a baby shower instead of trying to surprise you.
The shower continues and Carly asks if Bobbie had to pay anyone to attend. Carly says at least she hasn't thrown anything yet. Em says not yet and the Zander's phone rings. He has to take it. Carly opens a gift from Jason and Courtney as Emily watches Zander on the phone. Emily seems sad as Mike toasts family. Emily gets up and goes to Zander.
Emily: What's up?
Zander: Uh, I'm sorry. I can't talk about it right now. I have to leave.
Emily: Where are you going?
Zander: I have to take care of something.
Emily: Well can you tell me what?
Zander: I promise, I'll explain it later. Carly. Carly. I have to leave a little early. Best of luck with everything.
Carly: Okay, well bye.
Zander leaves but not before kissing Emily on the cheek. Emily is not impressed as she watches him leave. The party continues on.
Nikolas: It doesn't matter what you have to offer. Nikolas pours a drink. All I can give you in return is a good glass of brandy. Nikolas gives her the drink.
Lydia: It's a start Lydia walks over to the desk. What happened here?
Nikolas: I don't know. Looks like someone may have had a temper tantrum.
Lydia: Was it you?
Nikolas: No. I found it this way. I'm..I'm sorry. Did you say you needed something, Lydia?
Lydia: We both know that I came to Port Charles for the money. But after Stefan's trial and everything that happened in this room. I just...
Nikolas: Lydia, the burns won't make a difference. Okay, my uncle's gonna go to prison for killing Summer and for trying to kill Emily. He won't bother any of us again.
Lydia: Well, I'll have a chance to start over.
Nikolas: I hope so. Lydia walks back over to Nikolas.
Lydia: Would you consider giving our marriage another try?
Nikolas: No.
Lydia: Uh. We both need the money. Why walk away from it? I did help prove that Stefan tried to kill Emily. I testified about the tape at Luke's do-it-yourself trial.
Nikolas: You're far more courageous than you'd like to admit.
Lydia: So. Why not build on that? Why not have the courage to give our marriage another try? Stefan's out of the way and we made it through a very rough patch. We dont' have to stay married forever. Would a few years be so bad? We could...we ould wander around the mauseloem and have a few house parties. Would it be so terrible to make a beautiful baby together and collect billions of dollars together. There could be worst jobs.
Nikolas: It would never work.
Lydia: Why not?
Nikolas: Lydia. Marrying you was my uncle's plan for my life. Okay, I don't want any part of it. You know that.
Lydia: So you won't reconsider, having an annullment?
Nikolas: It's not fair to you. I know none of it has been. But I'll give you whatever you want in the settlement, including Wyndemere but I want no part of my uncle's legacy. Unfortunately, that includes you. I'm sorry.
Nikolas leaves and Lydia is sad and crying. She releases a muffled scream as someone covers her mouth and drags her away.
An officer brings Luke back to talk to Scott. Scott says that Luke is going to be arrested if Stefan dies. Luke goes after Stefan.
The baby shower continues...Carly opens more gifts. Emily moves away and Lucky follows her. Emily is very upset.
Lucky: Hey. Why'd Zander leave like that?
Emily: I'm not sure what's going on?
Lucky: Is there a problem?
Emily: Did you know about Zander and Carly?
Lucky: You know, It's not that big of a deal.
Emily: Why am I the last one to know about what my husband was doing while I was away? Faith comes into the club.
Lucky: Emily, he wasn't your husband then.
Emily: That's not the point.
Lucky: You and Zander were broken up then and Sonny and Carly were seperated. Look, I don't know all the details but Zander and Carly were good friends.
Emily: Why didn't Zander tell me about it until now?
Lucky: I'm sure you haven't told Zander every detail of your life while you were gone.
Emily: That's different.
Lucky: Why?
Emily: Zander doesn't know any of those people while I was away and I'll probably never see them again. I see Carly all the time
Lucky: Which is why I'm sure that Zander didn't mention it, right? C'mon Em. We've all done things in our past we'd rather not talk about all the time. What happened with Carly was in the past so why don't you just let it go?
The party continues, Faith and Alky are in cahoots and Sonny comes to take Carly away.
Sonny takes Carly away. People are upset, Emily is standing there watching.
Lydia is dragged through the tunnels and let go. She turns around and screams as she sees a bandaged Stefan holding her hostage. Luke comes through the study at Wyndemere with a big stick of fire. He's walking around the study. He goes to the bar and takes a large swig out of the brandy decanter.Luke: That looks flammable. He pours the alcohol all over the couch. Nikolas comes in through the door and Luke turns around to meet his eyes.
Nikolas: What are you doing?
Luke: I'm burning this wax works to the ground. What does it look like? Luke takes another swig.
Luke continues to drink and pour alcohol.
Luke: You wanna drink? Last call.
Nikolas: Has it occured to you that servants live here? That Lydia may still be around, Luke?
Luke: You want to play fire marshall, better make it fast. I've got serpents to fry.
Nikolas: What's the rush? I'm moving out of here. It'll be empty soon. Why not burn it down then? You can make your statement and nobody will get hurt.
Luke: I almost burned this place down before. It was Summer who talked me out of it. Isn't that ironic? If I'd've done it she'd be alive today.
Nikolas: You have nothing to gain by committing arson.
Luke: So Vlad, must be scurrying through the tunnels as we speak.
Nikolas: He's under arrest in the burn unit.
Luke: He escaped. Didn't Baldwin call you?
Nikolas: When?
Luke: Tonight. He's had plenty of time to get back here to his coffin. Why don't you be a good employer and go tell your servants that there's a madman here about to torch their workplace?
Two men come through the doorway.
Nikolas: What took you so long?
Luke: Got a cigarette.
Nikolas: Get him out of here.
Men grab Luke and drag him toward the door. Get him out of here.
Luke: I'll be back.
Stefan: Look at me. Stefan takes some pills. I'm a fugitive.
Lydia: You must be in pain. Let me help you get back to the hospital--
Stefan: This is my house. I'm forced to live in it's tunnels. All because I tried to help Nikolas.
Lydia: What do you need? Money?
Stefan: Yes.
Lydia: I don't have much but I'll give you all I have.
Stefan: Don't bother me with your meager resources. Nikolas needs the Keranin fortune. I know you want it.
Lydia: Well that's not gonna happen because Nikolas and I aren't going to have a child. So they'll be no inheritance--
Stefan: Nikolas. Nikolas isn't the only Cassadine capable of siring a child.
Lydia looks stunned and repulsed.
Zander continues to pump Cindy for information as Emily spies on him and then comes forward.
Zander: Hi.
Zander rises to meet Emily and introduces her to Cindy.
Emily: Hi.
Zander: Uh, Emily. Cindy...this is my wife Emily.
Emily: Nice to meet you.
Carly: You too. I can't believe it's this late, I gotta be somewhere. She gets up and leaves.
Zander: Bye.
Emily: Isn't that the woman who accused Ned of rape?
Zander: Yeah.
Emily: And you left the baby shower to meet with her?
Zander: Yeah, I've got..got some people keeping an eye on her. They gave me a call.
Emily: Uh...why?
Zander: Alexis is trying to prove that she's a total fraud. Alexis never paid her for anything.
Emily: Alright. If I were going to take sides it would be with Ned. That's why I'm staying out of it. Can't you do the same?
Zander: Emily. I would be in jail right now if not for Alexis. Do you remember that? Um..I've got to go check in with her. I'll be back. It won't take long.
Zander rushes off and Elizabeth comes on the scene. She's having problems seeing and walking after her accident. Emily. helps her sit down at table.
Emily: Elizabeth.
Elizabeth: Em. Hey.
Emily: How's it going?
Elizabeth: Good. Good. I can see about eighty percent right now.
Emily: Good. Well, congratulations. This calls for a chocolate binge.
Elizabeth: Works for me, what's your excuse?
Emily: Zander wasn't exactly. pining away while I was gone, was he?
Elizabeth: God Em. I'm sorry. I should have told you.
Emily: No. No, no. That's Zander's responsibility, not yours.
Elizabeth: Look, it was really a tough time for both of us. The only reason we slept together was because there was a storm and we panicked--
Emily: Wait! Wait a minute! You slept with Zander too?
Emily is really upset.
Scott shows up at the baby shower after it's over and tells Lucky and Bobbie that Stefan escaped from the burn unit and looked the other way while Luke went after Stefan. Scott's gives Lucky the chance to go save Luke before he kills Stefan.
Stefan: We both have a powerful incentive to produce a Cassadine.
Lydia: You're serious?
Stefan: Yes. Nikolas would never abandon a baby. Especially one related by blood.
Lydia: But he would know.
Stefan: Yes, well he would demand a DNA test and that child would definitely be a Cassadine.
Lydia: Nikolas is trying to get away from all of that.
Stefan: Yes. He's idealistic. You see, his own mother abandoned him. So, he would have great love and compassion for this child as I did for him when he was born. He became my charge and he..he would respect and love you as the child's mother. You would have everything - Nikolas, the money and a child.
Lydia: It's not going to happen. Not tonight, not ever. I could never sleep with you. Even when you had a face!
Elizabeth: Zander and I are just friends.
Emily: Yeah...he was a pretty friendly guy while I was gone, wasn't he?
Elizabeth: Oh boy. Um, do you remember when I...I told you that I got locked in that crypt and Zander basically saved my life? He defintely kept me sane. Well, a few weeks after that there was this big storm and the power went out and I panicked and Zander happened to check in on me and it, it just happened.
Emily: Yeah, things happen.
Elizabeth: It was a huge mistake Em. Jason walked in on the both of us and well...that's when he started to pull away and then I ended up lonelier than before.
Emily: Yeah, I know that feeling too.
Elizabeth: I know I should have told you. God Em, so much was going on in your life. I'm really sorry if I hurt you. I'm really sorry.
Emily: No, it's allright. I just feel weird.
Zander approaches them.
Zander: Hey Elizabeth. It's good to see you.
Elizabeth: Hey Zander, you too. I'm going to go see if that waitress is around.
Emily: Sounds good.
Elizabeth leaves.
Zander: What's up? You still mad at me about the shower?
Emily: No. I'm mad becasue you slept with my best friend and didn't tell me about it.
Zander: Emily, why are you so upset about something that happened while you were gone?
Emily: Carly and I aren't particulary close but Elizabeth is my best friend.
Zander: Right and you broke up with me. We were over.
Emily: So, you kept the whole thing a secret.
Zander: What whole thing? And when was I supposed to tell you? When you came back and let me believe that you were shooting up? Or when you pretended to go into rehab? Or when you suddenly got engaged to Nikolas?
Emily: Okay, so I'm supposed to be honest and you're not?
Zander: That doesn't even make sense. Unless you're looking for a reason to get out? Emily shakes her head. I'll see you at home.
Emily: Oh, my God.
Elizabeth: Hey, what was that about?
Emily: I'm not allowed to be upset about what Zander does. I'm supposed to drown in guilt because I have feelings for Nikolas but if I question who Zander slept with, I'm looking for a way out of our marriage.
Elizabeth: Well are you?
Emily: Maybe.
Lydia comes out of the tunnels. She's scared.
Lydia: Nikolas!
Nikolas: I'm glad you're still here.
Lydia: Something happened.
Nikolas: Look, I'll have my lawyers call yours--
Lydia: But Stefan--
Nikolas: Is no longer in my life. Okay--
Lydia: Nikolas, wait!
Nikolas: There's nothing more I can do for you. I'm sorry.
Nikolas leaves and Lydia sobs as the camera pans back to Stefan who is spying from the tunnel doorway.
Lucky and Luke meet at Luke's. Lucky is going to protect Luke from killing Stefan and sending himself to prison.
