Nikolas: How will it help Zander if he thinks I'm in love with you?
Emily: Okay, have you ever seen anyone go through cancer treatment?
Nikolas: There was the...the bone marrow transplant.
Emily: Okay, but Lulu was a baby. You...you saved her life. You didn't have to sit there and watch her die.
Emily starts walking away.
Nikolas: Hey Emily, come here.
Nikolas follows her and swings her around, holding the back of her head with his hand.
Nikolas: You are not going to die. Okay?
Emily: I have to break up with Zander befpre he finds out I'm sick. Will you please help me, Nikolas? Emily's voice rises in a plea.
Nikolas: No, absolutely not.
Nikolas rubs his hands over his face.
Nikolas: Why not allow Zander to support you? I mean, after all the times you stood up for him.
Emily: No, that isn't the point.
Nikolas: Or are you afraid he'll walk away?
Emily: No, just the opposite. He'll refuse to leave my side.
Nikolas: And why is that wrong?
Emily: Imagine you're in love. Do you want her to hear you throw up?
Nikolas: Oh, come on. What kind of question is that?
Emily: No, you may have some good days and she'll stroke your hair and try not to notice that it is falling out in her hands. And the bandages, I mean they smell awful by the way. But she's a trooper, she'll change all of the bandages as the doctors cut off your body parts one by one.
Nikolas: That won't happen to you.
Emily: What if it happened to you Nikolas? Emily's voice has been steadily rising with her tears. Would you want to lose your pride, your dignity, nevermind your looks right in front of the person who loves you most?
Nikolas sighs and hangs his head a bit.
Nikolas: Zander will never believe that we're in love with each other.
Emily: Hey, he knows that I had a crush on you years ago. You saw me as a kid then, but now I'm all grown up and you've seen the light. You can't live without me.
Nikolas: Okay, okay good. After all you and Zander have been through, why would you suddenly fall in love with me?
Emily: I don't at first. I try to resist. But you're..you're relentless. You shower me with gifts. You're everywhere I turn around. You flood my e-mail with love notes. I finally give in.
Nikolas: And then you break Zander's heart.
Emily: He'll turn to Gia for support. I've seen a little spark there, if it just caught fire...
Nikolas: Gia.
Emily: Yeah.
Nikolas: She's the only option here.
Emily: Oh my God... how could I have forgotten that you were engaged to her.
Nikolas: No, it's okay.
Emily: No, forget it.
Nikolas: No, no, no you weren't around during that time. You had much more important things to think about than my problems with everybody else.
Emily: If there's even a chance that you're still in love with Gia, I will find someone else.
Nikolas: Em, I...I don't know.
Emily: No, no, don't worry about it. Pretend I was never here.
Emily goes to walk out and Summer comes in.
Summer: Nikolas. Mrs. Lansbury didn't tell me that you had guests.
Nikolas walks up behind Emily.
Nikolas: Emily, I'd like you to meet Summer. Summer, Emily Quartermaine.
Summer: Hi, nice to meet you
Emily: Yeah, you too. Lucky's told me about you.
Summer: Same here. I'll check back with you later.
Emily: No, it's okay. I was just leaving.
Nikolas: Oh, and I was just trying to get you to stay.
Nikolas wraps his arms around Emily from behind and Emily looks confused.
Summer: Well you guys are obviously involved, I'll just...I'll
Nikolas: Well, I am. I don't know about Emily but I am.
He kisses the side of her forehead with her hair.
Emily: Yeah, just involved sounds so, so serious.
Nikolas: I know, but I can't help how I feel and you know what, I don't want to.
Summer: You know what, don't worry about me. You guys are right in the middle of something. I will come back another -
Emily: No, it's okay. I have a lot to think about.
Nikolas: Yeah, okay. Spins Emily around. Can I call you?
Emily: Yeah, I don't know what to say.
Nikolas kisses her and they pull back. Then Emily grabs him and kisses him some more. Summer is stunned. These are soft pecks...not hot at all.
Nikolas: Bye.
Emily: Goodnight.
Nikolas looks around and shrugs at Summer.
Summer: So it looks like the Prince has a heart after all.
