As the camera pans onto the scene, we see Lucky and Lydia kissing in drawing room of Wyndemere. Nikolas is looking on disgustedly as the announcer says "the part of Lydia Karenin will be played by J. Robin Miller." As Lydia pulls away she sees Nikolas over Lucky's shoulder and slaps Lucky on the side of the face. Lucky is rubbing his face as Lydia launches her spiel.
Lydia: Take your hands off me.
Lucky: You kissed me.
Lydia: Oh, please. Do I need to get a restraining order? Nikolas. Thank god. Will you tell your brother to stop harassing me?
Lucky: What?
Nikolas: Is that what he was doing?
Lydia: Lucky has absolutely no shame. It makes no difference whatsoever to him that you're marrying me.
Nikolas: Who says we still are?
In the Wyndemere drawing room, Nikolas and Lucky are pacing around a bit.
Nikolas: Either we have a faithful marriage or we don't have one at all. If you don't stop throwing yourself at my brother, this wedding's off.
Lydia: You think I was over here kissing myself? What about Lucky?
Nikolas: It's you I don't trust.
Lydia: Then your either totally unfeeling or completely naive, because your beloved brother has been pursuing me relentlessly.
Lydia makes a face and leaves the drawing room. As Lucky talks about Emily, Nikolas' voice rises.
Lucky: You got your hands full with that one.
Nikolas: Why do you go out of your way to antagonize her?
Lucky: I'm just trying to prove that she's a schemer. Lydia is working her own agenda.
Nikolas: But you're attracted to her.
Lucky: Well, I guess she just taps into my self-destructive side, like being fascinated with dynamite. Or maybe it's just my noble streak coming through. After all, you know what, if I take Lydia out of the picture, you'll be free to be with Emily.
Nikolas: Emily is with Zander. They love each other.
Lucky: And so you and Lydia get to love your money?
Nikolas: No, it's not just about the money, Lucky.
Lucky: Oh, sure it is, come on -- including what happened to Summer.
Nikolas: What? I don't follow you.
Lucky: It doesn't make sense. Her death does not make sense. What if Emily was the intended victim? What if -- nobody at that party knew your engagement was a lie, so if Emily is out of the picture, you're available to marry Lydia and get your money.
As Lucky talks, the camera pans over to the top of the staircase. Stefan is standing there and watching Lucky talking to Nikolas.
Nikolas: That's a lot of speculation.
Lucky: Well, it all leads back to one person -- your loving uncle Stefan. What if Stefan arranged for Emily to get pushed off that cliff but Summer got pushed instead?
Lucky and Nikolas walk towards the sideboard as Stefan comes into the drawing room. Lucky is standing there with his hands on his hips. Nikolas has his arms crossed over abdomen as he watches Lucky and Stefan spar.
Lucky: Nikolas, it was dark and foggy that night, and Summer and Emily were wearing similar coats.
Nikolas: I know. Alexis has the same theory.
Stefan: Which I thought we put to rest. Emily is a sweet young woman and a threat to no one.
Lucky: Well, except for you. I mean, she was engaged to Nikolas.
Stefan: The idea of killing someone to break off an engagement seems a touch extreme, doesn't it?
Lucky: Oh, only when millions are at stake. Oh, I'm sorry, was it billions?
Stefan: I never had any doubt that Nikolas would choose family over personal interests.
Lucky: Sure you didn't, because Nikolas doesn't love Lydia.
Stefan: He's marrying her.
Lucky: Which is what you wanted, no matter what the cost, even Emily's life.
Stefan: I'm confused. I thought your theory was that I killed Summer so that I could frame your father for murder.
Lucky: Well, I wouldn't put it past you, but I don't believe Summer was the target. Although framing my dad was a convenient smokescreen after the murder.
Stefan: Nikolas, please tell me you're not taking any of this seriously.
Stefan is reading something while Nikolas walks over and talks to Stefan.
Nikolas: Lucky's had his share of losses recently -- his mother, his father, Summer --
Stefan: Oh, that excuses his behavior?
Nikolas: I just don't want to sit in judgment of him.
Stefan: Nikolas is far more generous than I am or will be if you continue to pursue these groundless accusations.
Stefan looks at Lucky and then leaves the room.
Lucky: I hope I'm wrong about this for your sake, but you know what, I don't think so.
Nikolas: Please tell me you didn't say anything about this to Emily.
Nikolas is worried as he talks to Lucky.
Lucky: It's too late.
Nikolas: Lucky, she's fighting breast cancer right now. The last thing she needs to hear is that my uncle wanted her dead on top of it.
Lucky: You know what's interesting? You're worried about Emily, and Emily was worried about how you'd feel if it turned out that Stefan was guilty.
Nikolas walks around Lucky and picks something up off the desk.
Nikolas: How sure are you that Summer was the accidental victim of my uncle's plan to kill Emily?
Lucky: I know it. It's the only reasonable explanation that makes any sense.
Nikolas: Then do what you have to do it and I'll help you resolve it no matter what you find.
