December 19, 2003 Screencaps

Emily: So Dr. Meadows says you're okay?

Elizabeth: Yeah, she said the pregnancy's going great -- other than the fact that ric thinks he's the father.

Emily: Elizabeth, I thought you were going to tell him.

Elizabeth: I made the mistake of trying to tell Zander first, and he -- it just wasn't happening. There's no way he could have a child in his life right now.

Emily: And what about Tic?

Elizabeth: I've tried telling him, too, but he was so excited about our baby, I literally could not get the words out. But I am not going to let him believe this lie.

Emily: Well, would you let me tell Ric for you?

Elizabeth: I --

Ric: Tell me what?

Jax: So The Courage sank in 1704?

Elias: Yeah, pirates it was. They hit her with a cannonball as she sailed to shore. My Granddad's Granddad told him the story, and my Granddad told it to me.

Jax: Any idea why the pirates sank the ship?

Elias: Accident. They meant to slow it down and steal all the loot. Sank her to the bottom of the harbor instead. It was loaded down with jewels. Well, at least that's the story.

Jax: Any idea who owned her?

Elias: That bloodthirsty bunch from way, way back -- the Quartermaines.

Sam: You think I don't know what you're up to?

Cody: Whoa, whoa, I bought the coffee fair and square.

Sam: Yeah? Did the Cassadines send you out for it?

Cody: Well, I'm not too proud to work as a servant.

Sam: You mean a spy. You're trying to rip me off again. Aren't you, Pop?

Sam: Now, I want you to quit the job with the Cassadines.

Cody: Why? It's an honest living.

Sam: If you don't, I'll blow your cover.

Cody: Well, yeah, but, you see, if you do that, then I will be forced to tell Nikolas everything.

Sam: Go ahead.

Cody: You really want him to know how much you found?

Sam: One tiara? Big deal.

Cody:: No, no, no. I'm betting that it's more than one tiara, and you're betting, too. So, for a percentage, I could keep my mouth shut.

Sam: Oh, yeah. No, I'm not going to pay you off, buy you out. You can forget it.

Cody: Yeah. So just stop growling and give your old man his coffee back, and then we'll -- we'll negotiate my deal later.

Sam: Oops.

Cody: If I were you, I would be a little nicer to me.

Jax: Thanks for the history lesson, Mr. Cutler.

Elias: Call me Elias.

Jax: If I have any more questions, I'll certainly give you a call. Take care.

Tracy: Jax. There you are.

Jax: Hello, there.

Tracy: Where have you been keeping yourself? Are you devastated about E.L.Q.?

Jax: No, not at all. Surprised about A.J., Though. I really didn't think he had it in him.

Tracy: Well, I don't suppose it makes much sense to raid a company that's broke. We need a plan B.

Jax: You know, I'm busy right now. I'm helping sam set up an ocean salvaging business.

Tracy: Oh, really? Sounds a little limited for somebody of your vision.

Jax: She's doing a project for nikolas cassadine right now. There's a lot of diving and exploration. You know, she really enjoys that.

Tracy: Does it make you happy?

Jax: Well, Sam's happy right now, so that makes me happy. I'll see you later.

Nikolas: Mr. Quartermaine.

Edward: Oh -- Emily's at the hospital.

Nikolas: Oh, man, I -- I thought I was supposed to meet her here.

Edward: Well, obviously, you were mistaken -- or you just needed an excuse to come here.

Nikolas: Okay. Do you know anything about a ship named The Courage?

Edward: Who wants to know?

Nikolas: Well, Emily had mentioned it, and I just thought the story was --

Edward: Oh, God, you are so hard up for cash that you're going to go look for sunken treasure, huh?

Nikolas: Was there treasure onboard?

Edward: Supposedly.

Nikolas: What do you think?

Edward: Well, we think that Constance was sailing to America with her brother Percival. And he was going to open up a shipping company. And he h o on his ship a fortune in ancient coins that he wanted to use as collateral. And Constance was engaged to marry a Spanish nobleman. And the ship was loaded with jewels, and most of them belonging to Constance's fiance. Anyway, the pirates found out about it, and they sank the ship. Percival and most of the crew managed to make it to the shore, but everyone else died.

Nikolas: Was the treasure ever found?

Edward: Hmm. If there was a treasure. You see, percival was like some of the Quartermaines. He was -- he was prone to exaggerate.

Nikolas: What about Constance?

Edward: Supposedly, she drowned wearing her wedding tiara.

Elizabeth: Everything's fine with the baby. There's nothing to worry about.

Ric: That's what you wanted to tell me?

Elizabeth: Okay. Emily thinks it's a boy.

Emily and Elizabeth laugh.

Emily: Yeah, it's just -- just superstition.

Ric: Well, I'd be thrilled if it was a boy.

Elizabeth: Yeah, well, you know, nothing's official, so let's not talk about it.

Ric: Look, Emily, I know how important Elizabeth is to you. And I also know how you feel about me, so I hope we can get past this.

Emily: Well, all that matters to me is that Elizabeth and the baby are healthy and loved.

Ric: That's all that matters to me, as well.

Emily: I hope it all turns out.

Elizabeth: Thanks, Em.

Emily: Okay.

Elizabeth: I'll call you later.

Emily: Bye.

Ric: I think I got a few fences to mend there.

Elizabeth: Give her time. She's just overprotective. That's what makes her such a good friend. I've got to get to the studio.

Ric: Yeah, we will. We just got to make a little stop first.

Elizabeth: Why? Where are we going?

Ric: You'll see.

Elizabeth: Honey, I've got a lot of work to do. I really need to --

Ric: I'm not going to take any -- anything but yes for an answer.

Edward: Look, young man, here's -- here's something you might be interested in. Look, this is -- this is Constance Quartermaine one month before she sailed for America. You satisfied?

Nikolas: Is this the -- is this the tiara here?

Edward: If she'd kept that damn thing hidden and not told anybody about the jewels, she'd have been fine. But, no, she wanted the whole world to know. It's how the pirates found out about it.

Nikolas: So, then, it was a planned raid?

Edward: If you believe the story. It seems that the pirate Captain, Blackthorn -- he was in love with Constance, and he wanted to steal her and the jewels off the ship. But he accidently sank the ship and died trying to save her.

Nikolas: Quite a story.

Edward: Mm-hmm. I've also heard that the two of them were planning to sail off into the sunset with the jewels. You see, Quartermaine women have always had a taste for crooks and thieves.

Nikolas: Hmm. Do you know where the ship actually sank?

Edward: Why are you so interested in all this?

Nikolas: Well --

Emily: Nikolas.

Nikolas: Hey.

Emily: Hi.

Edward: What, you didn't expect to find him here, huh?

Emily: Oh. We must have just gotten our wires crossed.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Edward: Oh, my God. You have her lying already to her family.

Emily: Well, you lie to your family all the time, Grandfather.

Edward: And with damn good reason, young lady. Tell your boyfriend to find his own treasure, hmm?

Emily: What, the treasure?

Nikolas: That's right, which belongs to -- you ready for this?

Emily: Yeah?

Nikolas: Constance Quartermaine.

Emily: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

Nikolas: I know.

Emily: Check out that tiara.

Nikolas: I have. I held it in my hand.

Emily: Is that -- that same tiara?

Nikolas: Exactly the same tiara, which means it must have come from The Courage. See, I think Sam found the wreck when she was trying to salvage my freighter.

Elias: Excuse me. Here you go, little lady.

Tracy: Oh, thank you. Well, chivalry isn't dead after all. Are -- are you -- are you Elias Cutler?

Elias: That's right.

Tracy: I don't believe it. You ara a legend around here. I have been wanting to meet you for years.

Elias: And why is that?

Tracy: I've always loved the water.

Sam: Can you just imagine how valuable this thing is?

Jax: It belongs to the Quartermaines.

Sam: Like hell it does.

Jax: I'm sorry, but The Courage was loaded with rare coins and jewels.

Sam: Yes, and now they're all mine.

Jax: I think the Quartermaines will disagree.

Sam: This here happens to be my big break.

Jax: Okay, well, then you better hope that Nikolas doesn't realize that that tiara is part of a much larger treasure. Because, you know, beautiful things will bring out extremely ugly traits in people.

Emily: Wow. Can you imagine? A treasure lost hundreds of years ago could save my family now.

Nikolas: We don't even know if there really is a treasure. I mean, the tiara could be it, you know?

Emily: Well, if there's more, the Quartermaines will want it. They'll say it was theirs to begin with.

Nikolas: You think they would consider a 50/50 split?

Emily laughs.

Emily: I doubt it.

Nikolas: Oh! I wish it didn't matter. I wish I was as rich as the day you met me.

Emily: Well, as far as I'm concerned, you have at least as much right to it as the Quartermaines.

Nikolas: Can you convince them of of that?

Emily: Oh -- I can try.

Nikolas: Well, if I were Blackthorn the Pirate and you were Constance, then we -- you know, we could just sail away.

Emily laughs.

Emily: Oh, I wish we could do that now.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Emily: Well, Blackthorn gave up his life for Constance. Would you give up your life for me?

Nikolas: Yes. Would you for me?

Emily: Definitely.

Nikolas: Okay.

Emily: But I'd pack a few life jackets just in case -- one for me, one for you, and one for the treasure.

Nikolas: I love you.

Emily: I love you, too.

Monica: Alan told me.

Alan: Because my father told me.

Edward: I got an e-mail.

Ned: No one knows who called this meeting?

Edward: You called it, didn't you, Tracy?

Tracy: Don't look at me.

Edward: What are you trying to pull?

Emily: All right, I called the meeting.

Alan: Why?

Monica: Are you all right?

Edward: Oh, thank God, you've canceled the engagement.

Ned: Will you just let her speak?

Tracy: You're pregnant, aren't you? That baby is not a real Quartermaine.

Monica: Back off, Tracy!

Emily: Okay, this is about money. You all know the story of Constance Quartermaine. She was lost when the ship she was on was sunk by pirates.

Nikolas: A diver working for me found the ship that Constance was on, The Courage, and it's underneath my freighter.

Tracy: What about the cargo? There was supposed to be a fortune in gold and jewels.

Nikolas: A tiara has been retrieved, but I have good reason to believe that there's more treasure to be found.

Emily: And Nikolas and I have agreed to split the treasure 50/50.

Edward: So that's why you were pumping me for information -- so you could rob me blind.

Ned: And why should the Cassadines get 50% of this treasure?

Nikolas: Well, technically, while the gold and the silver belongs to the Quartermaines, the jewels belonged to Constance's Spanish fiance.

Ned: So then we're all thieves.

Edward: No, that treasure belongs to the Quartermaines.

Monica: Well, I think half a treasure is better than no treasure at all.

Alan: We need the money.

Edward: Of course you do, thanks to your son, the drunken embezzler.

Ned: And the Cassadines are willing to pay for all the expense of the search?

Nikolas: Yeah, that's -- that's not a problem.

Edward: This is a bad idea. Why won't any of you admit it?

Tracy: You know, Nikolas and Emily have found a way to compromise, and I think we should give it a try.

Edward: Oh, God, Tracy, you've never been willing to compromise in your life.

Tracy: What if we put it to a vote? Everyone in favor of a 50/50 split, raise your hand.

Monica: Well, I think for Emily, fine.

Alan: I agree.

Ned: Well, I'm all for supporting Emily, but why do I have this sinking feeling that Tracy has a deal working on the side?

Tracy: And why are you always so critical of your mother?

Edward: Over my dead body.

Sam: I don't need your help.

Jax: That's okay. I'll concentrate on my own search.

Sam: Why? Because you don't trust me?

Jax: No, I trust that you'll take ridiculous chances, that you'll push it too far and you'll stay down there too long.

Sam: Because I'm greedy, right?

Jax: No, because you grew up poor, Sam. It's just killing you that the treasure's just out of your reach, huh? I mean, you can't think, and you're making mistakes. You should just trust your instincts.

Sam: Every instinct I have is screaming that we are right over those jewels, jax.

Jax: Then what are you so -- why are you so scared?

Sam: I'm not.

Jax: Yes, you are. You know what? You're worried that the treasure's going to disappear. That's why you're in such a hurry, right?

Sam: I always get this close, and then I lose everything. I don't want that to happen again with the treasure or anything else.

Jax: Sam, you are a gambler. You're just like me.

Emily: You've been outvoted, Grandfather.

Edward: Obviously, not that it matters. But you still haven't found the treasure, and I doubt that you ever will.

Emily: Please don't make everything so difficult.

Edward: Look, young lady, if you want to throw your life away with some Cassadine pirate, there's nothing I can do about it.

Emily: You're impossible, but I love you anyway, Grandfather.

Edward: Oh, come on, don't get sentimental on me. Come on.

Emily: Thanks for setting up the vote, Tracy.

Tracy: Fair is fair.

Emily: I can't wait to tell Grandmother.

Edward: This is so wrong. Why can't any of you see it?

Ned: And why did you set up that vote?

Alan: 50/50 sounds kind of steep to me.

Monica: It's a hell of a lot more than we have right now.

Ned: Why in the hell are we going along with Nikolas Cassadine?

Tracy: We're not, but why warn him?

Edward: Were -- were you lying to him?

Ned: Well, now, there's a surprise.

Tracy: Nobody has a right to that treasure but the Quartermaines. I'm not sharing a penny.

Edward: I beg your pardon, Tracy. You mean we're not sharing a penny, hmm?

Sam: It won't be easy to reach, but the treasure is there. Whoo! And it's ours!

Jax: As soon as we get the right equipment to bring it up.

Sam: We're rich. We are filthy rich, and we have a fortune! I can't believe it.

Nikolas: You mean I have a fortune?
