Alexis and Justus have a visit before Emily and Nikolas arrive.
Emily: Hi, Justus.
Alexis: These are my clients.
Justus: Hey.
Emily: Hey!
Justus: Emily, how are you doing?
Emily: Good, how are you?
Justus: Hey.
Nikolas: Justus.
Justus: What's going on?
Nikolas: Good to see you.
Alexis: So, I've got some work to do with them. I -- I will see you again, I'm sure.
Justus: Fine. Okay.
Alexis: Thanks.
Justus: Good to see you.
Emily: Bye, good to see you. Hi, little Kristina! Hello. Gosh, she's really growing, isn't she?
Alexis: It happens.
Nikolas: She looks --
Alexis: It's amazing, isn't it?
Nikolas: She looks great.
Alexis: Okay. All right.
Nikolas sighs.
Alexis: I have the divorce papers for you to sign with -- here are the divorce papers -- here in this -- do you have a pen?
Emily: Um --
Alexis: In your purse?
Emily: Okay.
Alexis: I have something for you, too. I'm afraid it will give you a hell of a shock.
Emily: What is it?
Nikolas: A balance sheet. Completely in the red. It's official, my family's bankrupt.
Nikolas: It's like a -- like a black hole. The debt just keeps growing and growing and growing. It's pulling the whole company down.
Alexis: Helena started the collapse and Stefan just made it worse.
Nikolas: He took out so many loans.
Alexis: I know it's overwhelming.
Emily: Look, I think you and Alexis need to go over these papers so you'll know exactly what you're dealing with.
Alexis: That's a very good idea.
Nikolas: All right. Why don't I meet you back at Wyndemere later?
Alexis: Okay.
Nikolas: All right?
Alexis: All right, I'm going to take Kristina and drop her off. I'm going to meet you there.
Emily: Okay.
Alexis: Come on, sweetheart.
Nikolas: Oh.
Emily: You know, you are not responsible for this. It's Stefan and Helena’s fault.
Nikolas: I know, I know, but he -- he just -- he devoted his entire life to this estate and to me and to a woman who never really loved him and then somehow, it just -- just slipped away. He died with nothing -- no money, no family, no friends, nothing.
Emily: Nikolas, you listen to me. That won't happen to you, okay and don't worry, I'm loaded.
Nikolas: I love -- I love you. That's a good thing.
Emily: Well, I will stay with you forever on one condition -- don't let the debt collectors take the Jag.
Emily laughs.
Nikolas: Wow, you -- not a chance.
Emily: Okay.
Nikolas: Bye.
Emily: Bye.
Zander: This is the magnificent Kelly’s.
Zander: I -- I have some business that I need to go take care of.
Woman: Aren't we supposed to go dancing at the cellar?
Zander: Yes and this will only take me a few minutes. Okay?
Woman: Okay.
Emily: Hi.
Zander: Well, you got your divorce papers.
Emily: Yeah, just now. Have a seat.
Zander: I got mine, too. All we have to do is sign them.
Emily: Yeah. Um -- are you dating?
Zander: Yes, I am.
Emily: I wish it wasn't like this, Zander. If I could do anything over --
Zander: Well, you can't, Emily, and neither can I.
Emily: I'll always care about you.
Zander: Stop. Don't try and make this okay. You sound like a hypocrite.
Emily: I don't care how it sounds. It's the truth, Zander.
Zander: Well, it doesn't really matter, does it, because all we have to do is sign the papers.
Emily: You're ruining your life.
Zander: See, that's the beauty of it, Emily -- it's mine to ruin. I'm not going to end up with a nice girl, having a couple of kids, settling down just to make you feel okay because, see, I am finished making my life about you.
Emily: You know, I thought we could be nice about all of this.
Zander: Did you? Did you? Yeah, well sorry, you're wrong.
Nikolas: My uncle deliberately hid all of this from me.
Alexis: Now we know why he was so eager for you to marry Lydia.
Nikolas: He mortgaged all that was left.
Alexis: It's going to be all right.
Nikolas: It's a good thing you're my aunt, you know, because I don't think I could afford to pay you for your legal services.
Alexis: Well, then, it's lucky that Stefan invested in law school for me.
Nikolas: He cared a lot about you, you know.
Alexis: He may have saved my life as a child, but he knew that I would never put my heart and soul into this family -- except for you, of course.
Nikolas: Centuries of wealth, power -- gone.
Alexis: You know what? Bankruptcy to the Cassadines is more than most people will ever have.
Nikolas: Yes, I know, I know. Still, I'll repay those debts. You watch.
Alexis: Okay. So you're going to have to change your lifestyle -- big deal.
Nikolas: Emily says that I have to keep the Jag or she'll leave me high and dry.
Alexis: All right, well, we can't let that happen. You keep the Jag.
Nikolas: What about the horses? I can't sell them.
Alexis: I'll see what I can do. You know, you're going to have to let go of most of the staff, so you might have to make your own bed. But you can do it, I know you can.
Nikolas: I spent my entire life trying to get out from underneath this -- this fortune. Now I have. I truly am the "Prince of Nothing. "
Emily: So that's it.
Zander: Short and sweet.
Emily: Yeah, I may see Alexis later. I'll give her my papers then.
Zander: Give her mine, too.
Emily: Your -- your date's really pretty.
Zander: My date -- that's really funny.
Emily: I'm trying to be nice.
Zander: What happened with us, Emily, was -- what's the word? A kind of -- an aberration, a kind of a royal mistake.
Emily: It was beautiful, Zander. It didn't last. Most first loves don’t but I have every minute in my heart and I always will and I'll always know it was beautiful.
Zander: Don't go to Canada with him, please? Just -- promise me that.
Emily: I promise.
Emily: I ran into Zander.
Alexis: Is he all right?
Emily: He's been better, but he signed. So did I.
Alexis: All right, so I'll get these filed tomorrow.
Emily: Okay. Thank you.
Alexis: It'll be all right.
Nikolas: I know, I know, I know. I know. Just give Kristina a hug for me, all right?
Alexis: A big one.
Emily: Bye.
Nikolas: Kept the Jag.
Emily: Hmm. Thank God.
Nikolas: And I love you. That's about all I have left.
Emily: Well, what about all of the junk in this place?
Nikolas: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what'll stay. I've never been broke before.
Emily: Yeah.
Nikolas: But none of that really matters. Everything I need is right here.
Emily: I love you so much.
Nikolas: Will you marry me?
