Reflections of a Muse ~ Current Edition

When I started writing this, I thought of all the Nikolas and Emily scenes that I loved. The kiss on the bluffs, Nikolas holding Emily’s hair when she was sick, making love on Halloween, saving each other’s lives what seemed like a hundred times. I thought about how those scenes made me feel, about how their love was so apparent, even when they were hiding it from themselves. The passion they felt for each other, the longing, the desperation was almost palpable. It was as if their love for each other had simply jumped off the television screen and into our homes.

I had loved soap couples before, but never like this, so, I started to wonder why. Visions of past super couples ran through my head: Luke and Laura, Sonny and Brenda, Jason and Courtney, Sonny and Carly. All those couples had shared a passion for each other, a deep love that (sometimes) stood the test of time. Their portrayers had an undeniable connection with each other, much like the chemistry Natalia and Tyler share. But what was it that made Nikolas and Emily so special? What was it that separated them from other couples?

And then it hit me: friendship. It was the common thread that tied all those scenes together I had loved. It was what made their relationship so special. Because when you strip everything else away - the passion, the attraction, the need, you are left with an amazing friendship that has thrived for years. These two people have seen each other at their worst and at their best, and they’ve come out stronger for it. No other couple on GH can claim that. No other couple has the foundation that Nikolas and Emily have.

No matter what threats come to our couple – now or in the future – they will survive; their love will survive. There is no one else in the entire world that understands Nikolas as well as Emily does, and there is no one who loves Emily more than Nikolas. And it is because of their friendship. It is their friendship that makes their love unshakable, undeniable and unforgettable. Yes, Nikolas and Emily are a fairytale, but they’re also so much more.
