GH's Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) returns to Port Charles this week, having fully recovered from surgery he had after suffering a broken arm in a fall. Tyler's back and he's in great spirits," confirms a GH spokesperson. "His surgery was a success and he's very happy to be back."
According to the rep, the actor will not be in a cast on-screen. "That's what the surgery was for," the rep notes.
As previously reported, Christopher's role was temporarily recast with Chris Beetem, best known to daytime audiences as ATWT's ex-Jordan. "Great cast. Great crew. A great time all around," states Beetem of the gig. Adds the rep, "We certainly appreciate him pinch-hitting for Tyler when he was gone, and we'd welcome the opportunity to work with him again in the future."
Christopher's on-screen brother, Greg Vaughan (Lucky), reported that while the actor regretted having to miss a scheduled appearance at ABC's Super Soap Weekend due to the injury, the show's executives made sure the actor was taken care of -- and even filled his refrigerator with food when he came home from the hospital. "He's so high-maintenance," joked Vaughan. "I was with him all day, every day. It got to the point where I was like, 'I've got to go to work today, pal. I gotta go [laughs].' But all things considered, he's in good shape.
