Dramatic Finale for Zander As Em Gets A New Headache!
ABC Soaps In Depth
March 30, 2004
Zander soon may be a non-issue, but a new roadblock already is in place for Nikolas and Emily. Soaps In Depth has the scoop!
The In Depth Story: By month's end, Chad Brannon will make his final, final appearance as Zander, three months after his GH exit was announced. "I don't know if I'm going to be emotional about it of what," he told In Depth prior to taping his last scene. "I had one moment recently where I was like, 'Oh, this is my last week on GH, ever.' But I didn't have time to dwell on it."
After taping that finale - which he describes as "very beautiful... some very cool stuff" - Brannon looked forward to "going home and getting on with the rest of my life and the next part of my career." In bidding GH adieu, he says, "I'm closing a large chapter in my life. It was an amazing thing for me."
While it would seem that Zander's send-off frees up onetime love Emily to live a blissful existence with Nikolas, that is not to be the case. Rather, a twist of fate throws the Cassadine prince into a new storyline, out of Em's orbit, and in the direction of a new woman.
Who is the new fly in the ointment? As reported at SoapsInDepth.com, Catherine Wadkins has been cast as Mary, who is described as "Nikolas' new 'love' interest." (Those are the ABC press release's strateqically-placed quotation marks, not ours.) Wadkins, whose credits include THE EDUCATION OF MAX BICKFORD and Men of Honor, makes her debut on Wednesday, March 24.
