Prepared to announce their engagement, Nikolas and Emily waltzed into the Quartermaine den... and stepped right into a fire pit. "You guys better leave now, before the knives start flying," joked Dillon, who called it like he saw it. "If I waited for peace and harmony, I'd be 93 before making my big announcement," said a calm Emily, who then proceeded to tell the quarrelsome Quartermaines that she was getting married. Although the initial reaction was happiness for the young heiress, the tide quickly turned when Edward learned her future in-laws, the Cassadines, were dead broke. "Then there's no way in God's green Earth that you're going to marry my granddaughter," Edward bellowed to Nikolas. In the wake of the curmudgeon's disapproval, the fur flew as all of the clan's opinions were made know... at once!

Monica flew into protective mode, Dillon thre out his signature wisenheimer gibes, Alan was the proud papa, Tracy the bitchy aristocrat and Skye the black sheep with a heart. There stood Nikolas and Emily in the middle of the brouhaha, trying to remain calm in the midst of the storm. You gotta love the Quartermaines. One thing they're not is dull. Although Emily remained firm about her what her heart was telling her to do, the rest of her dysfunctional brood did the same. And they did it with style, flare and enough panache to elicit a knowing giggle from the viewers.
