Soap Opera Weekly
August 17, 2004
Helena hatches a plot this week on General Hospital to turn Nikolas against Emily and into the ruthless Cassadine prince she's always envisioned him to be. And who better to ask for help than Mary?
Ironically, Mary wants no part of the wicked scheme and tells Nikolas and Emily about Helena's proposition. Mary even offers to help them sneak out of town, but Emily flatly refuses, and Nikolas stands by her decision.
"He's trusting Emily more," explains Natalia Livingston (Emily). "He agrees to stay at the boat house while Emily goes to the hospital to get help. Emily wants to [protect Nikolas and his interests] by getting a doctor to give him a psychiatric evaluation that proves he is legally sane."
But while Emily is gone, Helena strikes. Her henchmen overpower Nikolas and drag him off to Shadybrook, where Helena plans to erase his memories. "Helena is saying Nikolas is crazy," sighs Livingston. "Her ultimate goal is to take over Nikolas' fortune and have it all for herself."
When Emily learns Nikolas has been carted off to Shadybrook she races to the sanitarium. "Nikolas has been committed and drugged," previews Livingston. "Emily sees him. He can barely open his eyes and is completely out of it. It breaks her heart."
Realizing Helena's plan to reprogram Nikolas has been set in motion, Emily knows she must act quickly. "Emily has to get Nikolas out of there, so she goes to Jason for help," reveals Livingston.
Next week: Jason's plan to rescue Nikolas hits a snag - so Emily takes matters into her own hands.
