If Natalia Livingston is playing Emily’s breast cancer storyline with the utmost conviction on “General Hospital”, it’s because the story hits very close to home. The actress dealt with her own breast cancer scare last year.
“I was watching “Oprah”, and the show was about breast cancer,” she tells TV Guide Online. “There was a section which stressed how important it is for young women to do a self breast exam.” Though skeptical, Livingston decided to follow the advice. “And I found a lump.”
Livingston underwent a needle biopsy, “which is what Emily went through to determine if hers was cancerous or benign,” she explains. Livingston breathed a sigh of relief when she learned she was okay. “It was a really good experience for me to go through and see that you have to check because you never know,” she concludes. “When they told me about the storyline, I thought it was amazing that I went through it to a lesser degree.”
