We began as a group of fans from the Love Nest. NEm was the popular name as was NikEm, but it was so very similar to ZEm and just didn't do our couple justice.

After trying unsuccessfully to come up with something fitting (and a trip to an anagram generator on the internet *shudder* scary stuff there) - Marcie's husband threw out a joke and gave some inspiration. Aimee and Marcie agreed that Nikolas and Emily should just do it and get together, thus... NikE.

Like the shoe, NikE is pronounced "Ni-ke." In the past three years, we've seen an increase in the popularity and usage of the name "NikE". While NEm appears to remain the most widely recognized name, "NikE" continues to be used.
