Tyler Christopher, born Tyler Christopher Baker on November 11, 1972, joined General Hospital as Prince Nikolas Cassadine in 1997. Tyler Christopher was born in Joliet, Illinois in 1972 and grew up in Delaware, Ohio where he was the youngest of four children. After graduating from high school, Tyler attended Ohio Wesleyan University for two years before heading to California to try his hand at acting. Through perserverance and strength, Tyler auditioned at General Hospital for the role of Stone Cates; which he did not receive. But as luck would have it, his talent made an impression on the GH brass. And with the help of Stephen Nichols (Ex-Stefan, GH) Tyler won the role of Nikolas Cassadine.

Tyler played the dark teenager until 1999 when he left the role to pursue other acting adventures. In the four years that he was away from GH, Tyler guest starred on various primetime dramas and also appeared in several independent movies. Some highlights of Tyler's career are located to the right, on our sidebar. On April 21, 2003, Tyler resumed the role of Nikolas Cassadine in which he has played with invigorated freshness and zeal.

During his first tenure at GH, Tyler became involved and eventually engaged to Vanessa Marcil (Ex-Brenda, GH). Although they parted ways before they married, they have remained friends. In 2002, Tyler married Eva Longoria, (Ex-Isabella, Y&R; Desperate Housewives). Recently, however, Tyler and Eva announced their divorce.

Tyler has received several awards and accolades in his acting career. Most notably, he has been nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy award. First, in 1998 for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor and this past year, 2004, for Outstanding Supporting Actor. In 1997, Tyler received a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer and also a Soap Opera Update Award for Best Outstanding Male Newcomer.

In his spare time, Tyler enjoys traveling, working out and boxing. Tyler has also become interested in his native heritage and proudly displays that in a tattoo on his left bicep. In 2002, he became involved in the opening of the 68 Cent Crew theater company. Tyler regularly performs in productions and was recently seen in the play, "The Boys Next Door".
